Hello again everyone! This is the new thread for us as the old one was getting a bit unmanageable.

OP posts:
Carrotsandcelery · 23/09/2011 10:29

Morning all! It sounds like we all need some tlc. I seem to have picked up ds's bug and I am roasting. I am in a summer top and have the back door wide open and I am burning up. Blush Those are hot cheeks not shame.

So far I have:
washed and dressed to shoes
made 2 packed lunches
lost the plot with dd Blush (that one is shame)
dropped a glass
swept up the broken glass
taken 2 dcs to school - late Shock
unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher
cleaned the worktops except the hob which seems to have sauce welded to it
15min (plus) decluttered the midden that was the kitchen
hoovered the kitchen and hallway
hot spotted the kitchen table
phoned re one of ds's psychology appointments Sad
written a note to ds's teacher re the medical appointment asking her what she wants to contribute

To do:
massive pile of ironing
pack for weekend away [grim emoticon]
today's mission is another good one I did the wardrobe at the start of term but didn't get to my pj drawer yesterday so will try to get there today.

I am going to dmil's for the weekend. I am a bit Angry as she made us confirm that we were coming and then told us the shower isn't working so to shower before we come. She smokes very, very heavily, keeps the house roasting and has an incontinent dog so it is the sort of place where you really do need to wash. Add a bit of a temperature to that and I am not amused.

I was dreading it anyway as when dsil visited in August she was totally vile about ds's mental health problems and basically told me that was why she didn't have kids Shock

Her boyfriend was mortified and tried to slow her down but she just went off on a tirade about him.

Dh (who is a very mild character) had a row with her and she came running to me in tears when it was me she had been vile to Confused

I am pretty sure she will have painted herself in an angelic light to dmil, although dmil knows exactly what she is like and is very defensive of ds so probably doesn't believe her.

Regardless, I will be walking on eggshells the whole weekend waiting for it to erupt around us (last thing ds, dd or I need just now really).

Why are families so tricky? It would be easy if I couldn't stick them but I love them all - I just want a bit of tolerance while we muddle through this with ds.

Gah! Sorry, that was a bit of a rant. I don't feel myself. It feels better to have said it though.

Carrotsandcelery · 23/09/2011 11:55

Hello again. Sorry for my rant. Blush

I have put on a load of washing, done a reasonable pile of ironing and the iron is still out waiting to do more. I am having a Brew now as my legs feel a bit funny (probably the exercise yesterday) and I am fed up.

Bleurgh!

OP posts:
Carrotsandcelery · 23/09/2011 13:06

I have now folded an mahoosive pile of laundry ready for packing/putting away (I will, I will, I will bessie).

I should be doing more ironing but needed another break.

I am trying really really hard to get a grip and cheer up.

Autumn, lol unfortunately I haven't, its against the laws of free will I'm afraid, however I do have an idea, how about getting hubby or child to hide the laptops power lead for a while, then when your laptop runs out of power you have to do something like ermmm... I don't know, perhaps flying :)

shouldbeelswhere · 23/09/2011 14:11

cheer up carrots it sounds like you've been v busy have another Brew you deserve it you've done loads of ironing remember!

Hope your weekend goes better than you are expecting :). We're off to look at a new school. Not sure if it's the right move or not but that's a whole nother thread.

I've cleared out the understair cupboard, reorganised the clutter and put it all back - yes I know you can't organise clutter...

AngelDog · 23/09/2011 14:32

Oh, Carrots, that sounds like a not-fun-at-all situation. Hope you feel better soon and well done on being so productive!

Autumn, I do know of people who get their DH to take the laptop out to work with them.

Just slept for 2 hours with DS - bliss! - so I feel much better.

Need to:

  • empty pushchair from supermarket trip
  • make & eat lunch
  • take DS swimming
  • make dinner
  • hang out wet washing
  • refill salt in dishwasher
AutumnHues · 23/09/2011 15:24

I'm back.Smile
Have stopped for a Brew break
Today have done:
Make bed
get dressed
ds to school
Shower
stock take of kitchen cupboards/Fridge freezer
Done shopping list
been shopping
lunch
hoovered all of downstairs
and mopped kitchen floor.
Might try and have some time off over weekend.

bessie26 · 23/09/2011 19:51

Oh carrots I hope the visit isn't as bad as you think. Our "holiday" to stay at SILs with ILs ended up being just about bearable (although I did spend alot of time hiding in DD2s room) so hope yours is the same.

I had to take the DDs to the Drs again this morning, it turns out DD1 has an ear infection Not sure if that's part of, or in addition to the viral thing they said she had on weds?! I think DD2s temp is down to having a cold, or maybe teeth?

Here's hoping we all get a decent nights sleep & everyone is better in the morning!

My to do list tonight

  • laundry
  • send DH out for take-away
  • eat
  • go to bed
AngelDog · 23/09/2011 21:56

Thanks, Autumn; nom nom nom.

Swimming went well. :)

Apart from that I've:

  • cooked dinner
  • washed up
  • tidied toys
  • loaded dishwasher
  • grated loads of carrots ready for a cake, discovered I don't have time before bed to cook it AND it needs whisking in the food processor for ten minutes and my whisk attachment is broken. Hmm

Still need to:

  • wash hair
  • make porridge
  • get snacks for DS for tomorrow
  • hang out wet washing
  • load washing machine
  • go to bed
AutumnHues · 24/09/2011 07:50

Morning all, I will have to get my kitchen sorted this morning but when that is done I'm hoping to have the rest of the day off Hmm.

GossipWitch · 24/09/2011 08:12

Hi all sorry I haven't been around much but I purchased a Professor Layton game and, well you can guess the rest. My living room is nice and tidy ready for the delivery people to drop my fire off, eek I'm really looking forward to it. I've also got to get my brother to house sit for me while I get ds2s birthday presents. He'll be 3 tomorrow, I wont be having a party though, he's really quite poorly, but I will have to get the house chaos free for the visitors that will be popping round tomorrow. And I also think I should swap shining my sink with shining my fire, lol. And yesterday I found a book crossing book, which came from Germany.

missmakesstuff · 24/09/2011 09:41

Hi everyone, I haven't been around much either, have been snowed under with work. I't going to be like this for the next 4 weeks at least, until half term. I have so much to do, about 3 hrs a night at the moment, so have let the flying slip a bit, have just been surviving , but have managed to keep sink shiny, and of course get dressed (would be a bit worrying for the kids if I didn't!)

Going to get dressed in a bit and then do an hour of sorting out the house before going out for the day.

Everyone seems run down - I wonder if it's the time of year?

gossip I read about Wicca a lot as a teenager, used to read cards for people and was really into it into my 20's. Not sure why I didn't stick with it but I do find it fascinating. I think I still believe a lot of it and kind of use some things from it all the time, but not in any strict way.

Well done for all the work to your house! we have been living here for over 5 years, we still have some doors with no handles, coving that is unpainted, a kitchen that needs painting and there is only one room in the house that is actually finished. I am going to sit down and list everything that needs to be done and agree with Dh when it will get done I think, it's ridiculous , as you and Carrots say, it's just procrastinating, doesn't actually take that long.

Right, just waiting for DH to get out of the shower before it's my turn, then will get the house sorted. DH has been helping more, I haven't done any of the missions in the bedroom as a lot of it is his mess, he just leaves his clothes and books in a pile, and the whole room is so dusty it makes me sneeze for days if I disturb it.

Todays list:
get showered, dressed and dd dressed
hour house blessing thingamajig
washing up
freeze some food
turn my vodka and gin mixtures
go to a food and beer festival
dinner
wine

tomorrow:
tackle bedroom missions and hoover it
change sheets
washing sorted and away
more bloody school work...shine sink etc
evening routine

Wow that was long, sorry, just that I had to read and catch up and then had lots to say!

AutumnHues · 24/09/2011 11:39

Don't want to drag the rest of you down. Whinge Alert! Sad

I just feel like I'm fighting a loosing battle! I think I'm never going to be good at Flying. I just don't ever seem to have the motivation to really get going. Also finding it hard having a two year old to deal with at the same time.

AutumnHues · 24/09/2011 12:52

I hope you don't mind but I might join some others on a new thread. I feel I might never make it at Flying. I need to get better at getting the basic jobs done eg washing up. If it's o.k with you all I might pop in to say hello and keep up with how you are all doing.Smile

GossipWitch · 24/09/2011 19:03

Oh my goddess!!!!!! so the newly ex text me this morning, and you'll never guess what... he wants to bring a bday pressie from him and his mum down tonight, which is all good except the house is in total chaos, I'm wondering whether I should just pile everything up shove it in my room and close the door and swish and swipe the bath room arrrrggghhhh!!! and I'm on mumsnet !!! however the fire is beautiful and my lounge looks very cosy now :)

bessie26 · 24/09/2011 19:25

gossip your ex is bringing you a bday present? Hmm Good luck with the tidying!

autum ahhh do keep in touch! I'm sure I've said this before, but I always tell myself that doing something is better than nothing, so don't beat yourself up for not doing as much as you'd like to do. I would love to have a clean, clutter free house, but I know it's not going to happen so instead I'll concentrate on what's important for us (clean clothes & yummy food) & have fun playing with the DC Grin

AutumnHues · 24/09/2011 19:42

Hi bessie yes, I will pop on the thread now and again. I just thought I had been struggling with the baby steps and Fly Lady although I do think I have picked up a few useful hints and tips from doing FLY Lady.
I am grateful to Carrots for starting this thread as I am sure it has helped me.
I am wishing you all luck and hope you all can FLY one day.Smile
If the other thread doesn't last, I may return and try again.

GossipWitch · 24/09/2011 20:44

bessie no he's bringing ds2 a birthday present, however he hasn't been yet, so I doubt it will be tonight now, now you see why I dumped him lol, but my nan popped round to see the fire whilst house was in chaos !!

but today I have tidied living room,
washed pots
s+s
hot spotted table
done laundry

installed fire
tidied hall

I am pooped from all the hard mooching around town and I am pooped so thats it for today I think.

GossipWitch · 24/09/2011 20:45

GossipWitch · 24/09/2011 20:47

Hi Gossip, When is it ds birthday?
My son has his birthday on TuesdaySmile

GossipWitch · 25/09/2011 11:56

Autumn his birthday is today, I've just had a visit from the ex and his mum who was just lovely to me by the way, she definitely likes me, and they brought pressies down for ds2, he's 3 today, time just flies by. I'm going to take the boys for a mcdonalds for lunch before I hit morrisons, then I'll have to find some time to grab my books. Best stop procrastinating on mn really lol.

GossipWitch · 25/09/2011 18:40

Did everyone go off to a new thread?

bessie26 · 25/09/2011 18:51

gossip here's info on the weekly house blessing it's basically a really quick clean of the house (you will do more detailed cleaning when you move onto zones, but let's not go there yet!)
I only do vacuum, mop & empty the bins, my mirrors don't get dirty enough to need cleaning every week & I don't do dusting Wink
I try to do mine on Tuesday's, but the mopping often gets delayed!
