Anybody interested in joining me for a flylady thread, starting with the babysteps?

I joined a thread which started in January and it made an enormous difference to the condition and calm of the household.

I have lapsed Blush and thought I would go back to basics and start again.

Anyone want to join me?

My dcs go back to school on Tuesday so I thought I would start on Tuesday morning.

Well done miniCani! Grin

Looking at the lists so far I think we should just get the whole tin out and have a slice each.

carrots it means that you really do have to take tomorrow off! I suggest scheduling something nice (long lunch with friends?) for next thurs so you can't do anything useful!

I'm still storing my recipes on my blog. It's proven to be really useful the last few months as if I was stuck upstairs with DD2 I could email DH a link to what we were having for dinner instead of him having to guess which book the recipe was in! We are having lots of repeats though, so am trying to do a 4 week plan, but now the weathers gone grotty I don't know whether to do salads or something warmer!

today I have

  • done 2 loads of washing
  • put ALL the clean laundry away Shock
  • vacuumed

still to do:

  • mop kitchen floor (it's not going to happen tonight)
  • tidy bedroom (will have to wait until tomorrow)
  • shine sink
  • get to bed at a reasonable time
AngelDog · 18/08/2011 21:28

Yes, I had a fab day yesterday. The key to housework is to have 3 adults working at it, with one on 100% child entertainment where necessary. Grin My parents have gone home now so there's less doing now. Bless them, they even brought their own sheets & towels so I wouldn't have extra washing to do once they'd left.

I'll post my lists tomorrow as DS hasn't gone to bed yet (well, I tried but he wasn't sleepy Hmm) and then I need to clean/tidy ready for PiL coming tomorrow.

Canistaysane · 18/08/2011 21:34

Last part of my list now, have done:
get washing in, put on airers
get dc to bed
dry up
and sweep kitchen floor
the rest of washing up can wait till tomorrow, I quit for today!
Well done everyone elseSmile

Canistaysane · 18/08/2011 21:36
Smile
Carrotsandcelery · 18/08/2011 21:56

I quit hours ago Cani but I will still shine my sink as it was rotten to get up to a messy sink this morning.

Angel I think you have the answer. We all need a nanny, housekeeper, cook and personal trainer. Sadly the budget here only stretches to a bag of Maltesers as motivation instead Grin

Everyone seems to be doing great. I am going to post tomorrows babystep just now as I have to make a sharp exit tomorrow morning baby step 4

I think everyone should manage this one. Last time I posted my notes inside a kitchen cupboard door. Where will you put yours??

OP posts:
Robotindisguise · 18/08/2011 21:57

OK today I have:

Put away all the holiday clothes
Done as much laundry as I could with rack space / rain limitations
Made a stack of butterfly biscuits
Did an hour of ironing (but didn't finish, I was losing the will to live)
Is that really it? It seemed to take forever!

Carrotsandcelery · 18/08/2011 22:02

I think any list which includes ironing definitely earns an extra tray bake Robot.

OP posts:
Robotindisguise · 18/08/2011 22:04

Thanks Carrots - oh no we're building a control journal. Did you ever do that last time?

Carrotsandcelery · 18/08/2011 22:09

No I didn't, I just have lists inside my cupboard door. I didn't want the extra clutter of a book hanging around.

OP posts:
threeandcounting · 18/08/2011 22:16

Hello! I would like to join too!

I promise to shine my sink from tomorrow....really can't be bothered tonight as dp has just gone to make some nachos Grin

bessie26 · 19/08/2011 02:03

mmmmm... Nachos!

I'm still using my "home routines" app, rather than writing stuff down on actual bits of paper...

Grockle · 19/08/2011 07:39

Morning. You've all been very busy.

Can somebody explain the Big Tent thing, please?

I find having a list here is helpful - i feel like I need to be more accountable.

Today, I need to:
Shower
have haircut
Go to town to buy gift for friend & meet mother for coffee
Order sofa
Blitz DS room, kitchen & my room
hang picture frame
Put DIY stuff in shed
Bake cakes
Pack properly
Shine sink ;)

Cheaptrick · 19/08/2011 08:20

Help!!!!!!!

Can i join?

I have the cleaner coming at 11am today (they shin my sink Blush). But before they can do that i need to:

  1. Clear hall so they can get thru the door Blush
  2. take rubbish out
  3. Do that weeks washing up
  4. Put the clean clothes that is on the chair in the livingroon in the bedroom to put away later
  5. Put toys away from livingroom so they can see the floor to hoover
  6. remeber to charge mobile

Then take 2yo to nursary at 1am as well as waiting in for the washing machine repair man so he can fix the washer so i can start washing all the clothes that are piled high in the spare room Sad

I have depression and everything feels like i'm walking thru mud and is so hard to do, i just want to cry. I'm 5 months pg, my 2yo is clinggy and keeps shouting at me and crying/screaming and my DH is disabled and i real can't cope anymore.

Can someone please kick me up the bum and make me just do it all? Sad

Off to have a coffee (i feel so tired, i could sleep for England), then start on the hall.

Wish me luck

Canistaysane · 19/08/2011 08:21

Morning all,
I checked with the ladies on the other FlyLady thread and they said to avoid Big tent and you don't need to sign in (fill the form in) as you would get loads of annoying emails if you did. But it's up to you, I just thought I'd let you know what they had said as they have been doing FlyLady for a while,Hope this helps, just check the website for the baby steps everyday.

Canistaysane · 19/08/2011 08:42

The link for Big tent is on baby step day 3(just in case anyone wanted to know)
Hmm

Maiavan · 19/08/2011 09:44

Cheaptric I hope you feel a bit better. If you could just do some of that list you doing bloody well. I am not going through what you are and I have managed to:

Unpack and repack the dishwasher
Hoovered the house
and
mmmmm

No thats it :o

Thanks Canistay - I did sign in to Big Tent - that must be where all the mails come from!

Cheaptrick · 19/08/2011 12:36

Ok so far i have:

1)tided hall
2) the washer repair guy has mended washer so put a load in.
3) cleaner turned up and has hoovered/moped all thru, cleaned kitchen and bathroom
4)i have tidied toys
5)took clothes up to put away later tonight

i put dirty pots back in cupborad so i have to do the washing up when i get back from taking son to nursary Blush

  1. I have put rubbish out and the left over binbags are going to the tip when DH get back from work.

  2. i got washed and dressed and put hair in a desent ponytail Smile

  3. had two real coffee's - not decaf Grin

So still to do;

  1. washing up
  2. clean fridge
  3. get son ready and walk to nursary and back
  4. put washing on line

SPD really hurting now and i'm so not looking forward to walking to nursary as i know i will hurt so much when i get back and i'm dreding going up and down the stairs at nursary as i know i will want to cry - i'm not good with pain Sad

bessie26 · 19/08/2011 15:01

cheap it sounds like you're making great progress on your list! I quite fancy a REAL cup of coffee, but as I only have 1 or 2 a year it can make me feel quite funny!

So far today I have

  • mopped the kitchen & utility floors
  • hung 2 loads of laundry out
  • re-waterproofed DHs walking trousers
  • moved some stuff out of our bedroom
  • made & eaten lunch
  • spent 30mins weeding the front garden
  • witnessed many wees on the potty (we're still waiting for the poo)

I currently have a very snotty DD2 asleep on my shoulder so won't be going anywhere for the next 30mins or so

I still need to

  • tidy bedroom
  • shine sink
  • make sure all diarys & calendars are in sync
  • buy some more eggs for tomorrow's breakfast
Canistaysane · 19/08/2011 19:53

Hi everyone, I have been a bit naughty today and gave myself a day off.Grin
Blush
I have loads of washing up needs doing but I just don't feel like it tonight.
I have been out for the day with family.Smile now sat here having a Brew.and MNetting.
I will have to try and get back on track tomorrow.
Cheaptrick it's hard work with a two year old (I have one) but I would imagine it's even harder being pg aswell. You sound like you have a lot to deal with.
I get fed up with dh not listening. feel like I'm talking to myself most off the timeSad

AngelDog · 19/08/2011 21:14

Cheaptrick, sounds like you had a really productive day - I'd struggle to get that much done normally too.

Canistay, good for you - everyone needs a day off now and again.
:( about the feeling like you're talking to yourself.

I'm posting my done list for yesterday:
Dishwasher
Compost bin emptied
Rang doctor
Researched new cloth nappies
Strip washed nappies
Ordered wetbags
Ordered shoes for DS
Cleaned bathroom sink
Tidied up
and probably some other stuff done but I can't remember. I ended up MN'ing till 1am Shock so my evening routine was a bit of a write-off.

Today I've not done much as I've been entertaining the PiLs. But I have:

  • Strip washed more nappies
  • Been to doctor and post office
  • Ordered yet more wetbags

To do tonight:

  • Strip chicken carcass & put slow cooker on for stock
  • Load dishwasher
  • Go to bed earlier than yesterday!

To do tomorrow:

  • Put away dry washing
  • Make cakes
  • Sort out problems with wetbag order
  • Tidy up

Canistaysane · 19/08/2011 21:22

Hello GossipWitch did you see my message on the never catch up with it houswork thread?

Carrotsandcelery · 19/08/2011 22:16

Hello to all the newbies. It sounds like everyone is doing so well.

Cheaptrick just take it one job at a time. Prioritise your list and just do one thing and then see how you feel. I realise I am a bit late for today but in future...

FWIW I vividly remember getting 3/4 of the way to nursery with dd when I was preg with ds and sitting on the bench in the village and sobbing because I really didn't think I could get the rest of the way there, let alone home again after. I also remember a bus driver letting me get on the bus in a neighbouring village for free because I looked so awful Blush Ds is SOOOO worth it though and your baby will be too.

Grockle I joined the Big Tent last time I did flylady but only get one email a day which I completely ignore. I didn't find it helpful personally because I had the support of the thread.

Dh has been flying today as I have been whizzing around out of the house all day. I did direct proceedings by text but he has obviously learned from the last time we did this. I hope everyone is trying hard to make it a family affair wherever possible. Grin

Dh got the majority of the bags up the loft (including the ones for my friend's car boot but I haven't had the heart to tell him that yet). He also got all the thick card from the garage to the recycling centre (14 mile round trip which is a total pain.) On top of that he did some jobs around the garden. Yay!

I swished the main bathroom and half of the ensuite.
I also loaded the dishwasher, cleaned the worktops and shined the sink.

Canistay I totally believe in a day off. Well done! Grin

Cheaptrick - life is hard when you feel like that, isn't it? Be kind to yourself and be proud of the little things you manage. Although you seem to be doing an awful lot!

Thanks for Big Tent info - I'm ignoring the BT then.

Today, I have:
Showered
have haircut
Go to town to buy gift for friend & meet mother for coffee
Order sofa
Put DIY stuff in shed
Bake cakes
Pack properly
Shine sink ;)

and tomorrow, I must:
Blitz DS room, kitchen & my room
hang picture frame
Sort out hand luggage
Make more cakes

I'm away for a week from Sunday so want to make sure the house is lovely before I go.
