Anybody interested in joining me for a flylady thread, starting with the babysteps?

I joined a thread which started in January and it made an enormous difference to the condition and calm of the household.

I have lapsed Blush and thought I would go back to basics and start again.

Anyone want to join me?

My dcs go back to school on Tuesday so I thought I would start on Tuesday morning.

Hello can I join? I tried flying last year when I was on maternity leave and failed spectacularly, though I was very good at reading all the emails and thinking about doing it. I found that everything took me three times longer than it should have done and that was my excuse for not getting very far with it. Need to try and get back in to it, though I am now back at work and dd doesn't nap as much, so in theory I should have less time to devote to it.

My one saving grace is laundry. I love doing laundry and therefore am always on top of that. Rest of the house is a tip.

I will endeavour to shine my sink tonight in order to get going with the baby steps. This will mean I've caught up with you despite joining a day late, as I refuse to get dressed to the shoes (I will get, and in fact, currently am, dressed, but I'm not wearing shoes in the house). This refusal may of course be the sole reason for my failure last year...

Canistaysane · 17/08/2011 18:15

Hi all, feeling a little better now as I managed to get an hour asleep this afternoon. Haven't got much house work done but am up to date with baby steps one and two. Welcome to all new membersSmile

Robotindisguise · 17/08/2011 20:48

Well, I was at work today, and you'll all be relieved to learn I did get dressed to my shoes beforehand, so that's one babystep ticked!

I've now got Thursday and Friday to prepare a 2 year old's birthday part from scratch

Carrotsandcelery · 17/08/2011 21:19

Oooh Robot I love party planning, baking, making etc. What are you doing for the party? Can we help?

missmakesstuff · 18/08/2011 00:11

Sorry, dull listing from me - did pretty well today, considering a friend came round for an hour and a half this afternoon and DD decided to wake up at 9pm and not go back to sleep till a little while ago, I have done all on my list, plus cleaned bathroom!

Put more stuff up in loft - DONE!
Washing hung out, put away - DONE
Make a fascinator by tomorrow morning for a friends wedding outfit. - NEARLY DONE
If still waiting in for courier then tidy my studio, if not, go to playgroup. BLOODY COURIER DIDN'T ARRIVE (or actually, think they might have done but I didn't hear as was frantically hoovering beads from studio floor...)
Oh, and make dinner, wash up, put away, tidy sink and shine. - DONE
Bed!!

Tomorrow I have to get up and out earlyish for A level results, then sort my classroom out for a couple of hours - hoping flylady also applies to my second home to help me get sorted there!

Then have to do...
get some shopping
Phone BT and Baumatic
School work
finish fascinator
find something to wear as going out with girls (yay!)
make dinner

hope everyone elses days go well, I am off to do the last on my list, go to bed, hope those of you with non sleeping children like me, get some sleep.

Canistaysane · 18/08/2011 04:52

I'm up early againHmm I went to bed earlier last night though so feeling o.k.
Will probably be tired later but dh is home today so at least he could babysit again if I need another napWink.
A bit too early in the day to do housework list so will probably come back later.

Robotindisguise · 18/08/2011 07:05

OK. I'm back from Spain (as of last Sunday). Mon-Wed long hours at work so Thurs-Sat to turn cluttery house into clean house, make biscuits, make birthday cake, buy a couple more presents / balloons / paper plates etc. So - today:

  • Biscuits (they'll keep in a tin till Sunday)
  • 2 more loads of washing
  • Initial house blessing (won't be enough but will help me see wood from trees)

Tesco order completed last night and arriving 8-10am today. Which reminds me - must clean fridge in anticipation

Maiavan · 18/08/2011 08:56

This may be a completely daft question but she suggests we get "dressed" before we clean - I always seem to get bleach on myself when scrubbing (I do try and be careful) so what do you all wear when you are doing a good scrubbing?

So far I have unpacked and repacked the dishwasher and made the beds Blush thats it (oh and painted my nails for the first time in about a year :o )

Canistaysane · 18/08/2011 09:00

Morning all, I'm back. Managed to get another hour asleep so hopefully I'll be better than yesterday. I have a question:
To anyone who has done FlyLady before...Did you fill in form(join) at Big tent I notice it says visit big tent today. I didn't know whether to or not.
Any way here's what I want to TRY to get done:
shiny sink
get shower/getdressed
get everyone breakfast/dressed
Wash up/dry up
maybe go out somewhere nice like park
That will do for now don't want to give myself too much to do.

Canistaysane · 18/08/2011 09:07

I'm not sure if I'm cheating a bit but I'm cleaning my bathroom sink rather than my kitchen sinkBlush. I use bathroom cleaning product and a cloth. as for clothes I just wear everyday stuff. I would like to clean my kitchen sink but I always have washing up to do and I sort of clean(but not scrub) it before I start that. Does that make me a slattern?ConfusedBlush

bessie26 · 18/08/2011 09:09

malavan the only thing I bleach are the loos, so I often just get undressed (down to undies!) to give them a good scrub!

I'm not sure if I should Blush about that or not! Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 18/08/2011 09:33

Good morning - here is baby step no. 3. I am just off to read everyone's posts now.

OP posts:
Carrotsandcelery · 18/08/2011 09:46

bessie I do that too, or put on old pjs over undies while I am cleaning and change back into presentable clothes for the school run. That works fine as long as noone comes to the door Blush

I am trying to make Thursdays my "day off" or I won't get one at all as our weekends tend to be quite busy. Obviously I will still do basics of housework though as there is no escape, and I still have to do school run and after school taxi services.

I have an exercise class though and I will allow myself to lie in the bath after and read a book for a while - I think that is as much of a day off as I can get really Hmm

I failed totally on the sink shining last night but have loaded the dishwasher, cleaned the worktops, swished and swiped the main bathroon, scrubbed half of the table, done a little ironing and tidied up the sink now so I am back on track.

I have an hour til my friend picks me up for our class so I could do a bit more ironing until then because I have nothing to wear.

I am still living in chaos as dh still hasn't helped me to put bags up the loft and I still haven't taken other bags to my car booting friend.

Oh, and I am wearing lace up trainers again today!

What is everyone else planning today?

OP posts:
Robotindisguise · 18/08/2011 09:58

Maiavan - I have a pair of jeans with a hole in the knee which I keep for bleaching / gardening / painting.

I must admit, though, I do clean in my dressing gown. I see what she's saying but sometimes you just have to strike while the iron's hot!

wigglybeezer · 18/08/2011 09:58

Hello everyone, I am going to join in too, have a lifelong procrastination problem.

Yesterday I started clearing the garage out and took a bootload to the skip.

So far today I have'

Booked car in for repair

cleaned sink and hob

mopped kitchen floor

put dishwasher

put breadmaker on

I would like to get out today for a walk and also sort out some of the laundry mountain.

Good luck all.

Canistaysane · 18/08/2011 13:39

Wow! AngelDog you did a lot yesterday.
Here's my done list so far:
Got showered/dressed
cleaned my kitchen sink
done some washing up
Put one load of washing on.
TO DO:
get lunch
hang out washing
hopefully go out to park?
more washing up.
I think if I break the day up into three I might manage it better. then if I get the above list done I can see if I feel like doing more or not.

Carrotsandcelery · 18/08/2011 14:48

AngelDog your list is scary. I hope you don't expect us to keep up!!

I have done more ironing, gone to my exercise class, soaked in the bath with my book, and checked that yesterday's tray bakes were up to standard Grin

The best list for the day can have one too! Grin Grin

bessie26 · 18/08/2011 18:24

I'm contemplating making up a list just so I can have some of carrots tray bake! (btw, how's your blog?!)

I just saw a link to unclutterer.com/ on another thread It's not a particularly cheery subject today, but thought it might be useful/interesting to some of you?

Carrotsandcelery · 18/08/2011 18:54

I haven't touched my blog for ages. I should put the tray bake recipes on it and then you could have some "for real" as my dd would say. She has been eyeing up the tins so I am fearful there won't be much left by the time I take them to the fundraiser.

As for decluttering - I need all and any help I can get. All I seem to have achieved is moving it into the hallway and creating a fire hazard.
