I joined a thread which started in January and it made an enormous difference to the condition and calm of the household.

I have lapsed Blush and thought I would go back to basics and start again.

Anyone want to join me?

My dcs go back to school on Tuesday so I thought I would start on Tuesday morning.

Hello, I'm back on MN again(just stopped for a brewBrew.)
I am intending to tackle the kitchen in a mo, then cook dinner.
So far today have:
Got up and dressed,
MNetted(most of morning)Blush Goes to naughty corner.
Been to Argos, Got storage chest,
came home had lunch,
Been back out to Asda,(had to get a card I had forgotten to buy yesterday.)
Just got back about ten mins ago.

Canistaysane · 29/08/2011 15:21

Yes, I'm sure you can join.Smile
Don't know if any of the others are on MN right now but I'm sure they won't mind.
If you look for the posts by Carrots and Celery she normally puts a link to the babysteps. or you could just find FlyLady website and start following the Babysteps from there. Most of us are on day 14 but you can start with day one if you like. I always seem to be a few steps behind. The decluttering for some of us (me definitely) will take a long time.

obrigada · 29/08/2011 15:26

Thanks Canis, had look back at page 1 of this thread and see the first babystep is to "shine your sink" so will start with that this evening!

Canistaysane · 29/08/2011 15:28

Right, I better get on with it, my Kitchen is a mess again!

shouldbeelswhere · 29/08/2011 15:49

Hi obrigada, I'm not much further than sink shine and getting dressed (not sure I've managed that one properly today!) I haven't looked at day 3 yet but I have managaed to empty a cupboard and clean it!

I'm hoping we can all hold hands (metaphorically speaking) and keep each other motivated. My house is a tip, the tent has been unpacked on the dining room floor all summer holidays. We just step over it Blush to get to the computer!

I'm planning to start properly when DS is back at school.

Canis, can a kitchen be anything other than a mess Confused

AngelDog · 29/08/2011 15:57

Thanks, Carrots - I'm not sure I can manage to do all that most days, but we'll see!

obrigada, welcome. :) You can substitute your own babysteps if you want - that's what I'm doing some of the time.

I've been very busy - I discovered weevils in DS's treasure basket. Blush We had an infestation of them a couple of months ago on our food shelves & the basket was underneath the shelves, so some were obviously hiding out there. I've washed everything in the basket, plus the vegetable box, the floor, bottom shelf, walls and skirting boards - and evicted several spiders.

Half of DS's dinners for the last I don't know how long have landed on the wall/skirting boards/floor so it was pretty mucky. Blush It looks lovely now though, and I cleaned the skirting board edge of the floor in the rest of the kitchen while I was at it.

I also hung up the rest of the washing, took some of the dry washing upstairs ready for putting away, washed up after lunch, hoovered the kitchen and hall and wiped over the upstairs bathroom.

I'm struggling again now despite a nice nap earlier. Thankfully DS is still in a good mood & has been happy playing on his own. Think we'll go out to the shops now as I need to make sure we're back in time for tea, and have time for a quick stop at the playground on the way.

obrigada · 29/08/2011 15:57

Hi Shouldbe, as well as shining the sink this evening, should I be decluttering as well?
My aim is to have my house fit for visitors by the time Christmas comes Hmm

obrigada · 29/08/2011 15:58

Thanks for welcome Angel:)

shouldbeelswhere · 29/08/2011 16:13

No! gently does it!!! I've just gone off on a bit of an tangent like Angel. Hoping I'll have it under control before Christmas though - all things are possible :)

At the moment I put my lack of organisation down to having a 2.5yr old - it will all be better when she's at school (sept 2012!)

obrigada · 29/08/2011 16:19

Ok Shouldbe, will just tackle the sink this evening so Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 29/08/2011 17:36

Welcome obrigada - always nice to "see" a new face. I agree, just shine your sink. It will build up fast enough.

Angel I don't think it matters if you can't do everything every day - work on the assumption that even if you only do a little it will be more than you might have done. Sometimes it is just too much to fit in.

It sounds like you have had a good day so should maybe start winding down now.

Guinea Pig is back from the vet and so far, is still alive - Hurrah! Fingers crossed he is still with us in the morning. He is currently snuggled up under a fleece blanket, beside the radiator in the lounge (which we only seem to go in to clean) so it is peaceful for him.

We will all be amazed how our houses look by Christmas. Last time we did it I could let anyone into my house at almost anytime and it looked respectable. I didn't dread overnight guests either as all it really meant was putting clean sheets on a bed and maybe a one hour house blessing (that will be covered later). It takes a while to build up to that but you will be so proud of your house once we get fully underway. Grin

Blows trumpet for angeldog . I on the other hand have failed. I have fed kids, bathed me and ds2, put some plants in for my nan, and thats it! I have a bit of tummy ache and someone let me down for lunch today, however I thought they would tbh, and it wasnt set in stone either. So bit of a backwards day today, I have an appt tomorrow morning so I'll be doing my list tomorrow afternoon. Keep up the good work ladies !

Canistaysane · 29/08/2011 19:48

Hi all, Not much to report really, Since I was last on I have:
washed up,dried up, washed up some more,
cooked dinner,
ate dinner,
Watched ds while he played out on bike (I was worrying as he has only learned to ride last week)
Then got dd ready for bed and in bed,(still have to get ds to bed)
Still to do: more washing up/drying up.

Carrotsandcelery · 29/08/2011 21:51

I wonder where all these dishes come from Cani. I am doing dishes, loading and reloading the dishwasher and dealing with the drainer constantly Shock

shouldbeelswhere · 29/08/2011 21:55

Opps I think I might have over done it. Sneaked a peak at ladyfly and did the pick up ten things to go to charity shop, cleaned the bathroom and kitchen. Totally exhausted now but my kitchen is clean and tidy, well mostly! Wine

You wouldn't want to know how many hours it's taken to declutter my corkboard. Sink shining and floor sparkling - if only it would stay like that then I wouldn't get so blooming bored with this tidying up lark. Please tell me this motivation will last...(said as sinks into pile of papers on computer desk)

Must just tell you lovely people that once when we were out for the day our house alarm went off so my in laws came round to check all was ok. They thought we'd been burgled - no, we're just not tidy Blush they were about to call the police but quickly concluded that a burgler would probably not leave toys out, washing in piles (clean) and paperwork all around the house.

I'm so in need of this!

Carrotsandcelery · 29/08/2011 21:59

Sounds like my house should

Definitely Wine Wine Wine for all your hard work today ladies!

shouldbeelswhere · 29/08/2011 22:04

Well done everyone. We're doing it! Calls for more Wine me thinks, I'm off for a soak (in the bath not the wine) :)

missmakesstuff · 29/08/2011 22:37

Hi all, and welcome new flyers! Just back from our trip, been catching up on the thread and the babysteps, think I will be able to so Sundays and Mondays easily, so should be up to date by tomorrow.
We had a bit of a disastrous weekend, with all of us sick at some point, DD barely sleeping, horrible weather, and my mobile phone got lost somewhere either in a field or in the car, although we looked everywhere and it is a total mystery where it went! So actually very pleased to be home, however I have so much to do and am back at work on Thursday so have a few busy days ahead, hope I can stay motivated to keep this up when back.

My list for tomorrow (cause tonights list is just drink wine and hopefully sleep)

Up and dressed
Empty car of camping gear and look for phone AGAIN
put gear in loft
washing
hoovering
sort clothes for work (or see if any of them fit [embarrassed])
mission from sunday (probably the drawers in living room and pile of birthday cards etc)
2min hotspot
15min declutter
Haircut
Osteopath to get cricks out of back
lovely bath

good luck all

Canistaysane · 30/08/2011 06:03

Morning all, I was awake at 4.00am today.(DH alarm clock went off and woke me too!)He is back to working days this week so it might feel a bit more like a "Normal" day. Although ds not back to school till we are into next week.
I am playing a big game of catch up today,
Here's my TO DO list:
Breakfasts for all
Get dressed
Room rescue kitchen(try to do all washing up that has backlogged)
TRY to do some hot spots(decluttering)
Cat litter tray
Check FlyLady website for next babystep
Try to not spend all day on MN.Grin

AngelDog · 30/08/2011 07:45

Last night I only hung out the washing. The kitchen is a state again (DH washed up so it's a mess!) Never mind.

Gossip, hope you make progress today.

Carrots, glad the guinea pig is still in the land of the living so far.

Cani, 4am - poor you. Makes my 5.30 start look like a lie in. DS was awake for 2 hours in the night too so I expect I'll be lacking motivation today.

miss, sounds like you had a rough time. Hope you're all feeling 100% soon and managed to get organised in time - have a Brew.

To do today:

  • tidy kitchen
  • wipe over shelves & check for weevils
  • put away dry washing
  • put another load of washing on & wash nappies too
  • cook dinner to take to a friend tomorrow
  • ring dermatologist
  • play in the garden
  • have a nap if I can
  • (if time) look at Lakeland storage boxes
Canistaysane · 30/08/2011 08:11

Morning Angel, DD had a whingy night too last night so I will also probably be loosing enthusiasm by this afternoon. This morning is going well so far,
Have done:
Breakfast,
clean bin lid
cat litter tray
clean table
make bed
one load of washing up(draining board full)
Check FLY website
Now having coffee break.

obrigada · 30/08/2011 09:45

Morning everyone, tackled babystep 1 last night and shined my sink! Felt good to come down to no dirty dishes in sink this morning.
Had a look at babystep 2 and as I work full-time getting dressed including putting on shoes is something I do five days a week anyway so is it ok if I substitute this for ensuring I shower every morning? ... have been known to just have quick wash at sink Blush

Canistaysane · 30/08/2011 10:46

Is anyone out there? I think I need a Cyber shove So I can get started again after my brewBrew.

obrigada · 30/08/2011 10:52
