I joined a thread which started in January and it made an enormous difference to the condition and calm of the household.

I have lapsed Blush and thought I would go back to basics and start again.

Anyone want to join me?

My dcs go back to school on Tuesday so I thought I would start on Tuesday morning.

Afternoon everyone. I'm on day two. I'm dressed and I've finally done the shopping! Shock [big grin].

Canistaysane · 28/08/2011 13:23

Hi everyone, Have done so far: Get dressed to shoes, do food shopping. Having a break now as it's Lunch time.

Canistaysane · 28/08/2011 13:30

After lunch I think I am going to tackle the main bedroom. DH is here to help look after the dc today so I think it will do me good to have some alone time away from everyone.(the dc have been driving me crazy just recently)Sad

Carrotsandcelery · 28/08/2011 17:05

I seem to have ground to a complete halt. I loaded the dishwasher and cleaned the work tops. I went to see a friend for a coffee. I have toad in the hole underway for Sunday tea. I haven't hotspotted, decluttered or rescued anything...yet. Maybe I will squeeze it in here and there after a cup of tea Hmm

Have done:
in Bedroom: Dusted tops of cupboards(didn't move stuff),
Hoovered bedroom,
Hoovered inside of towel storage box then filled it with clean towels from last week,
Put away most of dry washing from airers,
tidied some of the clutter away,
Did 5 minute room rescue in living room/dining room,
Did a bit of washing up,
cooked dinner,
Now sat having a rest before dc have to go bed.
Still TO DO:
dc bedtimes
wash up/dry up.
I'm quite tired now but fairly pleased with bedroom.Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 28/08/2011 19:08

Well done Cani I'm very impressed. Have you enjoyed your time to yourself? I love going to bed in a clean and peaceful bedroom - I am convinced you sleep better!

I still haven't done any more. I have been playing with the dcs and messing about on mumsnet.

I am hoping for a second wind Hmm

Oh Carrots I think we all get days where we find it hard to get going with the housework. As you know I've had my fair share of those sort of days.
I just felt unusually motivated today so I thought I'd make the most of it.
I did enjoy it when I could see what I had done, the room looks a lot less cluttered now.Smile.
I have asked dh & ds if they would tidy ds bedroom so they are doing it now.

Carrotsandcelery · 28/08/2011 19:55

I have just remembered that one of the small and furries has to have a wee op tomorrow so I have to bring him inside and do the nil by mouth thing. Does cleaning an indoor cage and a pet carrier count as a declutter and a room rescue?

OP posts:
Canistaysane · 28/08/2011 20:57

I think so.Wink

GossipWitch · 28/08/2011 21:19

Yay go me, (blows trumpet!) I have done everything on he morning list by 12 noon, dinner was done by 1, ds2 ate veggies too, and I even managed a cat nap :o, the house is still tidy, and all the dirty washing is in the machine waiting to be added to, I am currently relaxing and watching a film, both ds's are in bed ones asleep, and I'm feeling utterley pleased with myself. :o

Carrotsandcelery · 28/08/2011 22:20

Magic Gossip - top marks!

I have not done so well but tomorrow is another day!

bessie26 · 29/08/2011 00:39

Oh you are all being so good. I'm feeling like a bit of a flying failure at the mo, but as DH keeps telling me, I have to get sleep as & when I can so I can stay awake when DD2 is up in the night (like now). So today I:

  • took DD1 swimming
  • washed & dried kids towels
  • got DH (& DD1) to change the kids bedding
  • washed kids bedding
  • picked up kids clothes which were scattered all over the house
  • had a nap
  • had a bath
  • watched Dr Who with DH while drinking another glass of wine & eating chocolate

I'm waiting to see how tonight goes before thinking about what I'm going to accomplish tomorrow. I must get a new swimsuit for DD1 though. She was very good at telling me she needed a wee at the pool today, but her costume is so tight it's very difficult to get off in a hurry!

Canistaysane · 29/08/2011 07:50

Morning all, Happy bank holiday(to those in England).
DD woke up at 7.00am and also once in the night although she didn't take long to settle again. She is now playing with train track she asked me to make first thing. I am sat with a coffee trying to wake myself up a bit.Hmm

Canistaysane · 29/08/2011 08:29

TO DO:
Breakfast
Get dressed
Launderette(washing)
Go shopping for a storage box
Do some decluttering work
wash up/dry up.
That will do for now.

Robotindisguise · 29/08/2011 08:43

Morning everyone. So far, DD up, dressed and breakfasted, DW emptied, one load of washing on.

DH will finish mowing lawn (did one strip yesterday and heavens opened)
I need to clean the sinks
Off to family b'day do at 1pm

AngelDog · 29/08/2011 09:48

Well done everyone, especially Gossip.

The morning started badly with a blinding headache and 6am start, after DS woke nine times in the night. Shock I feel fairly human now though.

DH is out all day so hopefully 20 m.o. DS and I don't get on each other's nerves as much as we did yesterday - not a good day.

Done:
Breakfast
Loaded/unloaded dishwasher
Washed up breakfast things
Tidied kitchen
Wiped kitchen table / surfaces
Strained chicken stock - currently cooling in the sink
Put on washing machine
Mopped up 3 wee accidents (leaving a nappy free toddler unsupervised in a carpeted room was never going to be a good idea!)
Freecycled some hot chocolate
Played with DS

To do:
Shower & dressed
Hang out washing x2
Go to shops
Have a nap
Put away dry washing

Ideally:
Hoover & maybe wash kitchen floor
Look at Lakeland storage baskets
Take DS out somewhere nice.

AngelDog · 29/08/2011 09:50

Oh, and the fridge needs a good clear out & clean but I doubt I'll get that far today.

Carrotsandcelery · 29/08/2011 09:55

Enjoy the birthday Robot Grin
bessie it sounds like you have been pretty busy to me.

No holiday here so I have:
washed & dressed to trainers
loaded dishwasher
made packed lunches
taken g pig to vet
taken dcs to school
room rescued the utility room (yesterday's one)
room rescued the kitchen (today's one)
hot spotted the hallway (yesterday's one)

Still to do:
Clean worktops and kitchen table
Hoover
hot spot windowsill by back door
hot spot pile of shoes and g pig stuff beside back door
hot spot the clothes airer
do some ironing
do a small shop
go to post office

Today's babystep 14 is an easy one so I will hopefully do yesterday's as well.

I am trying to be busy today as I will worry about the g pig until I know he is ok.

Canistaysane · 29/08/2011 10:05

I haven't got moving yet, Too busy looking at MN. DH has gone to launderette with some washing so hope he gets on o.k. with that.
Carrots hope all goes well at the vets.
AngelDog it's hard when they wont sleep all night isn't it.
Maybe you could get a nap if ds goes to sleep in the day time.

Carrotsandcelery · 29/08/2011 10:14

AngelDog sorry your post hadn't appeared when I started on mine.

I fully sympathise as I have been awake since 4am and up since 6. I am trying to drink lots of water and have already eaten dh's Snickers even though I don't even like them. Blush

If you do all end up getting on each others' nerves sometimes going for a walk or to the park breaks the mood. It is a thought to get out but usually we feel better when we do, in this house anyway.

OP posts:
AngelDog · 29/08/2011 11:51

Thanks, chaps. Carrots - 4am?! Shock Shock Now that is truly hideous. At least we co-sleep so I don't have to get out of bed when DS wakes.

I've just looked in DS's mouth and the first of his 2 year old molars has just come through - that explains the wakefulness and the grumpiness. He's much more cheerful today - phew.

Hope the guinea pig is okay, Carrots.

With the babysteps, are you supposed to keep doing all of them every day eg doing a mission, room rescue, hot spots every day?

Cani, would you like a virtual prod to get off the computer? :)

Done:
Showered & dressed
Washed nappy bucket
Wiped down bathroom
Hung out 1.5 lots washing - going to do the rest after I've got DS to sleep.

Off for a joint nap now. :)

Canistaysane · 29/08/2011 11:59

Yes please AngelDog.
Enjoy your nap!
I'm about to get off computerShock
We are going to Argos to get a storage chest.

Carrotsandcelery · 29/08/2011 12:22

I am assuming that we continue doing a mission every day. We certainly do our hot spots, room rescues and 15 min declutters every day. After a while you don't think about it so much, you just do it. I usually enjoy the missions as they are a bit different from the stuff I might think of to do.

I have done my shop and decided to take a bit of my own advice and walk the dog. It is definitely good for the soul.

Still no word on the guinea pig but I am hoping that is a good sign.

OP posts:
Carrotsandcelery · 29/08/2011 13:41

I am back again and still fretting over the guinea pig - there is still no news.

I have managed to clean the worktops, clean the kitchen table, hot spot the windowsill behind the tv, hotspot the area by the back door, hoover, put the shopping away and play with the dog who seems to be a bit jumpy (maybe picking up on my anxiety or maybe the wind).

I really want to sleep but I will have to wait or I won't sleep tonight either.

The ironing board is up but I haven't managed to summon it to do any yet.

What is everyone up to?

OP posts:
obrigada · 29/08/2011 15:10

Hey everyone, can I join you all? Haven't managed to read through thread as I am at work, I work full-time and my house is a shambles that badly needs to be tackled Blush.

So where do I start?
