Anybody interested in joining me for a flylady thread, starting with the babysteps?

I joined a thread which started in January and it made an enormous difference to the condition and calm of the household.

I have lapsed Blush and thought I would go back to basics and start again.

Anyone want to join me?

My dcs go back to school on Tuesday so I thought I would start on Tuesday morning.

Canistaysane · 27/08/2011 19:17

Welcome shouldbeelsewhereSmile

Carrotsandcelery · 27/08/2011 19:19

Ds is still in the bath. I have gone through a few times to wash his hair but he is having such a great time I don't like to spoil his fun. Grin

Thank you! Anyone know how to get the white marks off granite? I think I might have damaged it by using viacal a while back, do I just try that again or somethingelse? Everyone's watching Dr Who here.

Canistaysane · 27/08/2011 19:27

I can't wait for our water to get fixed. Baths are off the menu at the moment and there is barely enough pressure to have a small shower. I'll be dancing round the house when it's all back to normal. We took dd to brothers house yesterday for a bath. We are going to attempt a shower for ds tonight but if that doesn't work enough he will be going to db house for bath too. we are planning to visit mum for a shower in the week, at the moment there is a lot of sink washing going on.

Canistaysane · 27/08/2011 19:29

I'm waiting for X factor on tele.

Carrotsandcelery · 27/08/2011 19:34

Oh Cani I hate sink washing. We had no heat or hot water during the really cold spell in the winter and it went on for weeks. It was grim.

should I just use water and a tiny bit of washing up liquid if necessary on our granite worktops. I know a lot of people use Method cleaners on them too.

No tv on here so we can hear ds in the bath. Luckily (in this instance anyway) he is one of those dcs who has a running sound track so we always know if there is a problem Grin I am rejoicing in the almost silence.

I think I need something with a bit more muscle, there's a bit of build up of limescale Blush

Canistaysane · 27/08/2011 19:40

Carrots That must have been awful as it was sooo cold last winter (I'm Guessing you are in the U.k.). That's one thing I should be thankfull for as we don't need the heating at the mo.

bessie26 · 27/08/2011 19:56

should could you use vinegar? that's worked well on taps for me in the past

bessie26 · 27/08/2011 19:58

oh, I meant to say I'd forgotten all about Dr Who - luckily we had recorded it so am off now to watch it with DH while multi-tasking (drinking wine & eating chocolate) Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 27/08/2011 20:04

We are in Scotland Cani and it was minus 20!

Should we don't get limescale up here but I agree with bessie that granite should be a safe experiment.

Canistaysane · 27/08/2011 20:05

Off to watch X factor now, see you all later.

shouldbeelswhere · 27/08/2011 20:06

Thank you bessie, I love you're idea of multi tasking, me too. I'll give the vinegar a try. I've cracked the whip DH and DC are tidying the sitting room then beddie byes for them. (ok maybe not DH!)

Canistaysane · 27/08/2011 20:07

Crossed posts Carrots Scotland is colder than England so that must have been really cold brrrr.

shouldbeelswhere · 27/08/2011 20:52

Oh thanks Carrots too (sorry didn't notice your reply). The vinegar has worked well. Brr sounds too chilly in Scotland for me. We have friends moving to Dingwall I think they're in for a shock.

Cani - hope you've got hot water v. soon.

Off to watch DVD and Wine now I've done the sink. Bye guys and thanks for letting me join in, I'll be back!

bessie26 · 27/08/2011 22:21

Oh arse, DD2 has scuppered my plans again

I got about 15mins into dr who/wine/choc before she woke, took 45mins to get her down again, then up, down & am now trying the dreamfeed thing again in the hope that I'll be able to get a few hours sleep before she wakes again.

So apart from some laundry, I have done bugger all this evening. Humph.

bessie26 · 27/08/2011 22:24

-20 carrots?!?!! I live in East Anglia, we think it's bad if it gets down to -4!!

Carrotsandcelery · 27/08/2011 22:29

-20 is unusual here bessie, it is not normally that bad in winter.

Good luck with sleep everyone. I have tried to pre-empt being disturbed by offering ds a sleepover with me in the spare room, since dd is on a sleepover too. He has settled without his usual jack in the box tactic but we will see. At least this way dh will get some sleep.

It says it at the top and bottom of the board.
Also what is "Flip this thread"?

Carrotsandcelery · 28/08/2011 10:37

Morning everyone! We are on babystep 13 today. I haven't looked at the mission yet but I generally do enjoy a mission. I hope it isn't a scary one Shock

Cani I think refresh just gives you the lastest version of the thread, so if someone has posted while you have been reading then it adds on the updates. It does take you right back to the top though so you have to get back to the final thread.

I am not sure about flip the thread. It might make the last posts the first ones that appear when you go in the thread. That might make it easier to see the latest in the thread without having to get to the bottom.

So far I have:
Cuddled and tickled ds in bed
Freaked us both out reading a bit of the Guiness Book of Records
Had a long lazy bath with my book while ds played
Made noodle soup - an experiment so it could go either way

To do:
Check if washing needs to go on and that there are uniforms ready for the week
Unload and reload the dishwasher
Clean worktops
2 min hot spots x2
5 min room rescue
15 min declutter
Kelly's mission
Packed lunches
Maybe see friend for lunch/coffee

I know the list from flylady seems to be growing but I think the trick is not to do it all at once unless you are really in the mood. Instead, do a 2 min hot spot while the kettle boils, do another while you wait for the bath to fill for your dc (or a 15 min declutter in your case Cani with your water issues) and so on. Just do a bit here and there and you will be amazed what you get through.

Remember it is Sunday though so I prescribe some Rest and Recuperation too or we will all burn out.

OP posts:
Carrotsandcelery · 28/08/2011 10:39

I just tried it Cani and flip the thread does indeed make the last post on the thread the first post on the thread.

OP posts:
Carrotsandcelery · 28/08/2011 10:40

Oh, but it doesn't stay that way, as soon as you post it turns around again it seems.
