Fledglings flying though July into the summer.

Roll up, roll up. tis the month of school fetes, sports days and annual reports. In all this flurry of extra activities and with the summer holidays hurtling towards us at rapid speed, now is the time to tame the chaos before our very special chaos creators are able to help us. Fully intending to beat the Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome so that my personal chaos creator can be occupied by others this holiday. Good luck to all to are also striving to achieve this.

Starting from the 1st of the month we shall be fluttering our way to tamed houses. If you are new to the system it is recommend that you focus on making the babysteps your main focus. The babysteps will build up to form routines to help you to stay on top of the house once you have discovered it. First step is to shine your sink. But not just half heartidly, deep clean til it shines Instructions here

For the more established flyer we then progress onto decluttering. 15mins each day in alloted zone of the week. New zones each week. and current zones and decluttering instructions can be found here Zones will automatically update for July.

As for the advanced flyer, there are missions to do each day in the current zone

We have one rule we are NOT perfectionists anything is better then nothing, real life gets in the way and we have to do other stuff other then cleaning (put it on your list, tick it off and :) ), besides the fat fairy's moto is "You are never behind"

As such take the vomit inducing cuteness of the website with a pinch of salt, and join us for wish lists formally to do lists , ta da lists and home bleurghs. Wink

See you bright and early tomo although hopefully not too bright and early.

I have just given the kitchen cupboards a blitz, so now feeling smug knackered pleased with myself! Grin
Going to try for a read of the local paper now.

Toffee - Good idea!! Pact, OK!!!!!

Reastie - I think you are far more likely to hear about wallpaper falling off walls, toilets that dont work, and things very under par, so I wouldn't get too excited!! Smile

Toffeefudgecake · 22/07/2011 21:19

Dragged an unwilling DS2 to a birthday party after school (he was so tired he simply wanted to flop on the sofa), where I drank a lot of Pimms Smile and he refused to budge from my knee. He wouldn't even eat the birthday tea Blush.

I'm so relieved that it's the start of the holidays tomorrow and we don't have to rush anywhere.

PA - I'm looking forward to those clean kitchen cupboards Wink.

reastie - so sorry the coil is still not suiting you Sad.

BlueEyes - I hope the hairdressers wasn't too traumatic. It's always a nightmare experience for DS1 too. Luckily, DS2 quite enjoys it.

Givingup - hope you have a fab weekend too.

Nicknacks - yes, I think you are definitely redeemed by a tidy house.

OFM - just reading your 'to do' list makes me feel exhausted! Good luck with it all.

Right, off to finish story times, then I'm not going to do anything except relax and go to bed early.

BlueEyeshadow · 22/07/2011 21:57

Well, DS2 - who I was expecting to kick up a stink - is now the proud possessor of a big-boy-haircut. He's lost his gorgeous curls. DS1, on the other hand, having been fine about it the last 2 or 3 times, completely refused to have his hair cut at all and created a very embarrassing scene. Will now have to rebook for about a fortnight's time, by when it'll be far too long...

Waves to Ellie and NickNacks - hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 22/07/2011 22:35

My DS is another haircut hater, it used to be horrendous, he would scream the place down, for a couple of years we just did it at home with clippers, which was a real ordeal too, then he made friends with a boy whose mum is a hairdresser, we go to their house now and she does it while he plays on the Wii with her son.

I'm feeling a bit envious of all of you having broken up already, school till Tuesday here. Had a nice day today though, with harvesting the school garden (let the KS1s loose and they went through it like a plague of locusts). We then sold it all to the parents at the open afternoon. Made at least £30. Assembly was nice and both DCs teachers said nice things about them at the open afternoon. School disco was fine as well. The DCs came home and started making drawings and letters to give their teachers and TAs, DS has made a fabulous drawing of the teacher and TA for the TA (she has been his Class TA all the way through KS1 and he is going to miss her) and written her a lovely letter.

Anyway, I'm off to bed, will try and catch up with some personals tomorrow.

singforsupper · 23/07/2011 00:51

Hi everyone, when I used to come on mn there was NO such thing as flylady, my life was a mess. Now we have flylady and my life was tidy for a while, but now it's a mess again. So here we are. Just about managed to clean the sink tonight.

The WHOLE HOUSE needs serious sorting. There is no corner that doesn't need de-fluffing, no basin that doesn't need swishing and no clothes that don't need washing. We are down to the last few pairs of pants and I've had enough.

I did the sink tonight (ish), worktops,(some). I'm already bored.

elliepac · 23/07/2011 08:27

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 23/07/2011 12:33

Just whizzing past, sorry to hear about your MIL Nettie. My MIL was diagnosed with it 7 or 8 years ago, she made a full recovery after treatment and is fine now.

DH is at work, I am trying to amuse DCs and declutter at the same time, better go.

Makingchanges · 23/07/2011 12:37

Afternoon all -SorryI have been missing since mid week - My 'illness' turned into physical sickness and I have been sleeping and being generally unwell ever since. I had an interview for some voluntary work at the local aspergerrs charity yesterday and have had to rearrange for next week - Not a good start :(

Anyway today I am feeling a little better so I am going to do a little bit of flying (Although am going easy as still not 100%) - so far first load of washing is in and dd been to dance class.

To Do

  • DD to library to see if we can sign up for the summer reading event that she got the info for from school yesterday.
  • At least two more loads of washing
  • Attempt a tidy of DDs bedroom as it is looking a little neglected.

I got an invitation to an interview to the job that I spent all weekend last weekend applying for today so that's bolstered my mood as well. I haven't had time to catch up on all that I missed but will try to do that later

BBL

Toffeefudgecake · 23/07/2011 17:11

Making - sorry you've been ill. Hope you are feeling better now.

Nettie - sorry to hear about your MIL. My mum had breast cancer 11 years ago. She's fine now.

Singforsupper - welcome to the thread. I think Flylady's dictum, 'You can do anything for 15 minutes', is designed to combat the inevitable boredom of doing housework. I do find that helps. Better than doing nothing anyway!

Went to the hairdressers this morning, then nipped into White Stuff to buy some holiday clothes in their sale. Bought myself some long shorts and t-shirts for our holiday to the IOW, but have just checked the weather and it's not looking too promising Sad. Never mind, I'm sure we'll find plenty to do (even if it's just enjoying the novelty of doing the housework in PA's house, instead of my own!).

Sorry not to do anymore personal messages, but hope you're all OK. Must go and do the children's dinner now

elliepac · 23/07/2011 20:46

Evening all,

Not a bad day today, actually done some flying for once!

Ta da list:-

Tidy dining room done
Tidy living roomdone
Tidy kitchendone
Tidy hall waydone
Clean all aforementioned roomsdone
Washing x infinitydonex3
On line x infinitydonex3
Putting away x infinity nope
Tidy/ clean bathroomnope
Tidy bedroomsnope
Tidy landingnope
Supermarketdone

Downstairs is now visitor friendly, upstairs not even human friendly. Tomorro, however, is another day!

nettie so sorry to hear about your mil. I hope they have caught it early and that you and your family are coping.

makingchanges sorry you have been poorly. good luck with the interview if i forget to mention it later.

toffee i reckon pa is one of those people who claims chaos but actually lives in a gorgeous house and has incredibly high standards Wink. I reckon my interpretation of a tip and hers is completely different (sorry pa Grin). You will have to give us the gossip. She's away she'll never know...we'll report all your posts before she comes back and they'll vanish into the ether Wink.

singforyoursupper welcome to the thread Smile.

pmpy eeugh, vomting toddler, nothing worse!

Popped round to visit my sister today and left DS there to sleep over, DD is in bed and DH is asleep so I am going to go and pour myself a glass and watch Casualty!

Have a good evening everyone!

Toffeefudgecake · 23/07/2011 21:44

Ellie - very, very impressed by your achievements today! I am looking forward to dishing the dirt reporting to you all from PA's house from Tuesday Wink. The boys are incredibly excited by it now: a ferry ride, a holiday and, just to make it even better, pets to look after! What more could they want?

I'm actually hoping that getting away for five days will inspire me to sort my own house out when I get back, because I've lost the will recently. I get so discouraged by the way mess simply reappears. I had a real bash at sorting out our bedroom this week and by today DH had managed to mess it all up again. What's the point?

I have been reading Flylady's book and must say that, in amongst all the sentimental tosh (she loves us ALL, you know), there is a lot of sense spoken about routines and suchlike. I just need to do it!

MIL is coming round for lunch tomorrow, so that's an incentive to tidy up.

Hope you all have a peaceful evening.

elliepac · 23/07/2011 21:52

I know what you mean toffee, i have done a lot of tidying up today but i have tidied the living room at least 5 times. I also emit a low perpetual sigh which actually means 'ffs, does no-one EVER clean up after themselves'. DH always moans at me for it and I feel like screaming in his beautiful face,'it's your fault you fucker' what I actually say is,'darling could you please make sure you put the toilet seat down/pick your dirty clothes up/put your dirty pots in the kitchen/not leave your huge amounts of useless computer crap everywhere Grin.

onwards and upwards

Ihatecobwebs · 23/07/2011 21:54

Have got another ruddy bug - sore throat, sinus and temp wandering about 38 again - I'm very fed up of this.

Very limited amount of anything done today, so I won't embarrass myself by even attempting to list it. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Car broke down yesterday, luckily in nearby town, but I'm now carless again. Recovery lorry brought us home then took car to the garage for me, and I've left a message on their ansaphone, so hopefully will get a call on Monday when they notice she's sitting in their yard again. Got very fed up of disbelieving man when I called the breakdown line - didn't believe I knew what the problem was, so put it down as "possibly might be a problem with the fuel system" - the fuel pump has stopped working, so that's what I told him, but as he didn't believe me they sent out a car with mechanic first. He looked, fiddled, agreed it was the fuel pump and ordered a lorry to take her away! DS enjoyed it though, especially the ride home in the front seat of the recovery lorry.

Little bit of positive today - finally able to pick the first of the courgettes.

elliepac · 23/07/2011 22:15

Get better soon ihate and bummer about the car.

You can tell I am on holiday. I am still up and faffing about on MN of an evening rather than going to bed at 8pm Grin.

NettieSpaghetti · 23/07/2011 22:23

Thanks for your kind thoughts. I'm hopeful as surgeon thinks perfectly treatable. Smile

My tada list this afternoon

Visited inlaws
Wrapped present for kids party
Bought gifts and cards for adult party
Dh took delivery of ocado shop
Moved washing on
Fell asleep
Dealt with sickly boy!

Hope you are all ok. Off for a read of what you have all been up to.

If not before see you tomorrow BiscuitBearSmile
