Roll up, roll up. tis the month of school fetes, sports days and annual reports. In all this flurry of extra activities and with the summer holidays hurtling towards us at rapid speed, now is the time to tame the chaos before our very special chaos creators are able to help us. Fully intending to beat the Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome so that my personal chaos creator can be occupied by others this holiday. Good luck to all to are also striving to achieve this.

Starting from the 1st of the month we shall be fluttering our way to tamed houses. If you are new to the system it is recommend that you focus on making the babysteps your main focus. The babysteps will build up to form routines to help you to stay on top of the house once you have discovered it. First step is to shine your sink. But not just half heartidly, deep clean til it shines Instructions here

For the more established flyer we then progress onto decluttering. 15mins each day in alloted zone of the week. New zones each week. and current zones and decluttering instructions can be found here Zones will automatically update for July.

As for the advanced flyer, there are missions to do each day in the current zone

We have one rule we are NOT perfectionists anything is better then nothing, real life gets in the way and we have to do other stuff other then cleaning (put it on your list, tick it off and :) ), besides the fat fairy's moto is "You are never behind"

As such take the vomit inducing cuteness of the website with a pinch of salt, and join us for wish lists formally to do lists , ta da lists and home bleurghs. Wink

See you bright and early tomo although hopefully not too bright and early.

Morning all!

Didn't get back on yesterday so happy anniversary to pmpy for yesterday as well. Glad you and pa both had lovely nights but have to admit that I think pot noodles are the work of the devil so consequently think pa's dh is a little bonkers!

nettie hope you have a lovely holiday Smile.

swan and chb thanks for the lovely round-up and links Smile.

Today mainly consists of marking and washing. I know am harping on a little but you only realise how long your old washing machine had been knackered for when you get a new one....the clothes are actually clean Shock.

List today looks like this:-

Mark started
Washing 1loadonlineanotherin
Put away
Repeat ad infinitum

Actually, am hoping to blitz the marking this morning so I can enjoy some of this lovely weather this afternoon.

Have a lovely day everyone!

droitwichmummy · 03/07/2011 09:06

Good morning!

We did our family fun day yesterday so today we are off to the PILs for lunch.

Already got the washing on the line and the DW emptied.
Rest of the day looks like:
ironing
pop to Hobbycraft for something to make a birthday card for DH's cousin's husband (thanks DH for springing that on me last night!)
make said card
get DS to do some homework
s&s
shine sink

Have a lovely sunny day everyone

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/07/2011 10:15

Morning all,

DCs are at their GPs having had a sleepover, DH has gone to work, I have just wasted 15 mins of my life which I will never get back reading yet another long thread about cat poo in which not a single person will concede that anyone else's POV might be valid.

Will be going to fetch the DCs in a minute and then take them to the local country show, which our whole town seems to go to, it's a hot day, so need to go and start rounding up sun cream, hats etc. Don't really feel like going to it all that much TBH, but DD is very keen to go, they have all been talking about it at school this week. DS will no doubt be grumpy because he'd rather stay at home and play on the Wii. I will be grumpy because it's hot and because DS will be grumpy. Oh well

Enjoy Basingstoke Swan - that is very close to me

Stillchuckingit · 03/07/2011 13:48

Hope you get the marking done and dusted in time to enjoy some sunshine Ellie

Glad your dh remembered PA and you had a lovely meal out. Arf at pot noodle. (My dh eats cheese sandwiches before he goes out to dinner so that he "doesn't eat too much". Confused Wierd or what?)

A belated happy anniversary to PushmePull and dh. Hope you had a cracking celebration.

Whoknows Envy at prospect of country fair although sympathies at familial grumpiness. We're all infected by it today. I don't know why.

Enjoy your family 'do' Swan lovely day for it

Enjoy your sojourn in Scotland Nettie

Huge waves to everyone else.

I dunno. One of those Sundays where we are absolutely free for once and planned to take it easy. Gloriously sunny. Apart from a quick visit to the local fruit & veg market and 40 mins making flapjacks, we haven't much. We should all be relaxed, happy and mellow ... but instead we're all feeling a bit stroppy and lacklustre ...

Stillchuckingit · 03/07/2011 13:56

Sorry Swan see you family 'do' is tomorrow ...hope it's a good 'un anyway

Hope you have a more restful day today Linzer

Ellie yes - that's my other bugbear - good child's shoe here is between 40 and 80 Euros ...ouch!! And, like you say, scraped on virtually first day of use.

Waves to nettie (well done re: windows) Mummy (enjoy your lunch) Pink CHB and everyone else!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/07/2011 17:48

Well, as predicted, DS whinged his way round the show, the first half an hour was the worst, he settled a bit to it, but really didn't want to be there, just wasn't interested in anything except the childrens rides, so we only stayed for a couple of hours. All the children from the local schools Year R have been doing a farming project this year, with artwork to display at the show, DD had contributed to her school's mural, so it was nice to see that. Would have liked to have been able to watch some of the displays though, or browse the stalls without a hand dragging me back towards the rides again.

I'm feeling really tired despite a solid 10 hours sleep last night, how can that be? Lacklustre is exactly the right word for it SC. The state of the house has deteriorated quite a bit in the last 2 days and I just CBA to do anything about it.

Toffeefudgecake · 03/07/2011 20:01

Thank you for all the lovely messages about DS1. The news certainly cheered me up. Have had a nice weekend, seeing friends and going out for lunch. The house is a tip again, but I'm trying to get on top of it. Tricky with people here all the time though. And now DH has brought a load of his mum's stuff back here to store until she moves into her new flat next Friday - argh!

DH has just enraged me by asking why I'm not doing "my job". This is because our bedclothes are still drying outside and I'm using the tumbledrier to dry the children's PJs, which they'll be wearing shortly. He actually said, "Well, why didn't you do this earlier?" Angry. I sometimes worry that he is turning into his father, who was a bigot and a chauvinist. Aside from calling him some choice names, I was too angry to reply properly.

Toffeefudgecake · 03/07/2011 20:10

Oh, he was joking Blush and thinks it's hilarious that I took him so seriously. Sometimes, I'm just not sure Hmm. Anyway, marital harmony has been restored.

The boys have decided to have a bath together, which usually ends with a lot of noise and water everywhere...

elliepac · 03/07/2011 20:51

Today, I have mainly marked and washed. However, at 7 this morning I was marking 1 paper every 5 mins by 1.30 I had dropped to 1 per 15 mins and was losing the will to live. So i gave up. Took the DC's went to visit BF and her brood for an hour or so and then over to Dsis's for bbq and play in the sunshine. Far more productive as far as my mood goes. Have just finished some prep for tomorrow and am just about to throw in the towel for the day.

I have to admit I am feeling a little despondent at the state of the house and have more or less consigned it to CHAOS until the school holidays start. The whole place is a fecking pigsty. I have been doing the minimal recently due to exam marking and it just goes to show how little anyone else does. (more specifically DH..grr). Apart from the odd tidy here and there he hasn't lifted a finger. I know he does a very physical job during the day but is it too much to ask for him to help out when I am working my arse off to pay for his bloody work van. Yes he has looked after the DC's but I can manage that to do that and clean at the same time. (clearly I am a genius Wink). Upstairs hasn't been touched in 2 weeks because I have been working and has gradually reached the point where you can barely see the floor in the rooms. I am monumentally pissed off with it all. I cannot even see a way clear until I start holidays and actually have some time to do something.

Rant over. Grin. toffee pass some marital harmony my way will you, lacking at the moment.

whoknows i started reading that cat poo thread and gave up after 5, not quite so much time wasted as you but still...

sc i also feel stroppy today.

Am going to try and cheer myself up with some tv watching and an early night.

I don't want to go to work tomorrow Sad.

swanriver · 03/07/2011 21:16

Roundup Time!

well I'm back from lovely Basingstoke (where my gps had a house, and my uncle now dwells in considerable comfort Smile
Ginormous family do, slightly exhausting going by train, but better than not going at all. Exhausting to see so many relatives at once too, but I think it is great for the children, who ran around, played tennis, swam and met all sorts of long lost cousins. My Dad was AWOL (surrounded by admiring friends of 80) and my mum didn't come after all, due to bug, so it was all a bit disconnected as a family function though...Always weird to be at gps' [uncle's] house when it is such a big function - seems familiar but not familiar ifysim as you can no longer go off and read Tintins in the guest bedrooms like you did as a child..[sob] Anyway new generations of grandchildren are enjoying the house, my uncle has 15 grandchildren now!

Toffee I must say I'm so worn out by wrangling on these matters I can't even comment Sad but sympathy anyway...Dh veers between unreconstructed expectations of singing and dancing hausfraus, and then is helpful...We spent a lot of today bickering, although he was v. helpful Confused I am so fed up with some of the fundamental problems of living this house, and he thinks it's just a matter of tidying it...or buying endless pizzas...[grr]

Droitwich enjoy making the card
SC I think you are very naturally energetic person, it is sometimes difficult just doing nothing much; sometimes having time off catches you unawares - I know that feeling of weekend indecision; hope a bit of sparkle lit up the day after all, did you find something to get your teeth into Grin?

Ellie you deserve everythign to be easier, not least the washer - hope the marking went into spin cycle rapidly Smile

CHB glad you had a great evening, thank you for such quiet and peaceful links Smile I'm still *** off with next door but one; although I should be grateful it happens so seldom - I see now living with noisy neighbours who amplify music in gardens, at any time of day, must be absolute hell.

Done
had dress ready for party [yay!) thus reducing stress levels on exit
stocked up at Sainsburys on some essentials on way back from train
read Dd Wimpy Kid
dh made everyone practice
uneasy ceasefire with DH
rescued hall and parlour
think there is uniform
have waterbottles from shop

CBA the rest, nothing in SINK but it is not particularily shiny [sigh]

BlueEyeshadow · 03/07/2011 21:20

Well, the ordination went really well and it was lovely to see loads of family. The boys enjoyed staying with FIL and step-MIL too.

Sadly, we got back to discover that the ants had opened a new front in the war against them so DH had to take emergency measures. Now need to reassemble the kitchen as well as all the unpacking and sorting out. Sigh.

So tomorrow need to do house bleugh/rescue as well as shopping and keeping the peace - DS1 usually particularly manic after an exciting w/e.

Waves to all and hands round Wine - sounds like a lot of us are in need!

swanriver · 03/07/2011 21:31

x-post Ellie yes...Hmm I'm feeling utterly depressed by continuing Forth Bridge nature of the mess.

Does your DH admit there is any mess? Does he think you should do it, rather than him, or does he just think the house is fine as it is? I think this is the sticking place in any argument -if they deny there is a problem with the arrangements it's quite difficult to get them to contribute to changing them.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/07/2011 21:44

Swan Forth bridge is exactly how I feel, I had a blitz upstairs on Friday, we have been out most of the weekend and downstairs looks as though a bomb has hit it again. I am in the lounge looking at a coffee table, which was clear on Friday and now holds the following:

sand timer
Gogo
empty mug
suntan cream
Wii controller
unopened mail
pens both in and out of a box
ballet shoes and cardigan
scissors
match attax cards,
pieces of paper
empty biscuit wrapper
microfibre cloth which I did not put there

The rest of the room is not much better

swanriver · 03/07/2011 21:48

[sweeps all the offending particles off whoknows coffee table with grand gesture] Well at least you know where the ballet stuff isWink
I've found the tights on the washing line, where is the pink bag?

elliepac · 03/07/2011 21:49

I am not entirely sure. Sometimes it would appear he does nothing because he doesn't mind/notice the stinking mess Hmm. Other times I think he does expect me to do it. Example not 5 minsago went like this.... He knew we were going to bbq, he didn't want to come, went for a snooze instead. I take dc's out, put them to bed and do 2 hours work. I finish and walk into the dining room where he is playing on the x box and he asks what for dinner. He is 36 ffs and he still expected me to make his tea when i have spent 8 hours working today. Words cannot describe my rage.

2nd rant ovet Grin

elliepac · 03/07/2011 21:52

Sorry, should that was for swan. oh dear whoknows feeling a bit under the flying weather as well. What's up with us?

ColdHeartedBitch · 03/07/2011 21:55

Forth bridge of mess. Yep definetly know that feeling. My success of the day was ... actually there hasnt been any. Was nearly an hour late to pick up ds from contact visit, although ex was later still. And havent actually done anything. On a plus note about to head to bed for an early night so here are the links:

Linkys**

Babystep no 4:the starting point of the control journal Although on this thread we decided that the post-it notes were clutter and thus most of us have ignored this step. Make your own choice.

New week so the zone is the kitchen and the missions should be here in the morning but haven't updated yet.

As it is monday it is home bluergh day and instructions for this are here. Although no one yet, as far as i am aware, has manged to do this in just one hour.

*

Have a good week all.

Toffeefudgecake · 03/07/2011 21:59

Sorry you feel low, WhoKnows Sad. Here's some more Wine. The 'sheer relentlessness of the housework' gets me too.

DH wants computer back. Grr.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/07/2011 21:59

Thanks for the links CHB. I do not have time tomorrow for any home bleurgh at all I don't think, so not even going to try [defeatist emoticon].

NicwNacw · 03/07/2011 21:59

Well, have had a lovely w/e. DS1 at cub camp and DS2 had a friend for birthday sleepover - twas very cute. Dinner with friends Sat pm and gentle day today, gardening, swimming and fetching a very smelly DS from camp. However...house actually looks worse (far worse Blush) than it did on Friday. So - early start tomorrow have, have, HAVE to get a grip!!!
