Roll up, roll up. tis the month of school fetes, sports days and annual reports. In all this flurry of extra activities and with the summer holidays hurtling towards us at rapid speed, now is the time to tame the chaos before our very special chaos creators are able to help us. Fully intending to beat the Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome so that my personal chaos creator can be occupied by others this holiday. Good luck to all to are also striving to achieve this.

Starting from the 1st of the month we shall be fluttering our way to tamed houses. If you are new to the system it is recommend that you focus on making the babysteps your main focus. The babysteps will build up to form routines to help you to stay on top of the house once you have discovered it. First step is to shine your sink. But not just half heartidly, deep clean til it shines Instructions here

For the more established flyer we then progress onto decluttering. 15mins each day in alloted zone of the week. New zones each week. and current zones and decluttering instructions can be found here Zones will automatically update for July.

As for the advanced flyer, there are missions to do each day in the current zone

We have one rule we are NOT perfectionists anything is better then nothing, real life gets in the way and we have to do other stuff other then cleaning (put it on your list, tick it off and :) ), besides the fat fairy's moto is "You are never behind"

As such take the vomit inducing cuteness of the website with a pinch of salt, and join us for wish lists formally to do lists , ta da lists and home bleurghs. Wink

See you bright and early tomo although hopefully not too bright and early.

Oh bloody hell. The childminder has just texted me to let me know in advance that DD has been a hairdresser today....quite literally. She has put two bald patches on the side of one boy's head and then a tuft in the middle of another girl's lovely long brown hair on her crown. Her self preservation instinct must be high as she has barely touched hers.

CM tried to tell her off and she just laughed.

Oh dear dear me. Not sure I can face the other parents!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 08/07/2011 17:06

Thank you Swan. The irony is that the school garden is doing far better than my own patch Confused. It's not just me I should point out, there are four garden ladies, one of whom has supplied us with a lot of seedlings from her greenhouse, but the broad beans, two crops of radishes and lots of rocket have all come right through from seed planting by the children, we have at least 30 tomato plants from seed and about 30 sacks with potatoes in still to come as well as all sorts of beans, beetroot, courgettes, squashes, pumpkins (for the notallowedtocallitHalloween Spooky Disco in the autumn). We sold £10 worth of broad beans and lettuce at 50p a throw today, which was lovely.

List update

Done:
Morning routine - got up 15 mins earlier than usual plus more free time obtained by finding that I couldn't empty the DW as DH forgot to switch it on last night, so made some fairy cakes for the school cake sale
School run
Home to ice the cakes
Tennis
Empty DW, refill with cake/breakfast stuff and put on again
Clean out sandpit
Room rescue lounge - not very thorough
Clean kitchen floor
Go to school early to harvest produce from the garden for the cake sale, set up cake sale and watch DD's class assembly
Run cake sale
Come home
Take DCs to cricket - CBA, told them it's cancelled due to rain Blush

Still to do
Change spare bed and wash sheets - need to put in dryer and then back onto bed. DH and his friend have taken all the pillows on their camping trip so I am going to have to ring MIL and tell her they need to bring their own for the weekend, cheers DH!)
Ironing
Clean kitchen counters

The DCs behaved beautifully at the cake sale, normally I get DH to come a long when I am helping to look after them, this time with him being away I asked their teachers to send then through to the hall and find me at hometime, which meant they were first in the queue for cakes, they sat with friends and did colouring and reading, helped clear up and really did me proud. So we went into town afterwards to buy some new toys with the pocket money they have been saving up, which was nice.

Ellie - oh dear, I remember doing this to my own hair as a child, hope the other parents are understanding.

OFM - my DH would say I am a control freak, rather than organised!

Toffeefudgecake · 08/07/2011 18:04

Oh, Ellie! It will be a funny, family story one day, I promise.

OFM - I emailed the ed psyc, basically asking, "Well, is he or isn't he?" No reply Angry. Why won't they commit?

Had an amazing moment at the parade (thanks for your sundance, Lady - it worked). As DS's classmates paraded past, they spotted him and all ran over, hugging him and cheering. It was so moving and made me all teary, much to DS's embarrassment. It gave him the confidence to attend the after-parade party and join in with some of his classmates.

Then, this afternoon, I received his SATS results - and he achieved Level 4s in all three subjects! I really can't believe it, as he didn't seem to know anything whenever I was working with him Confused.

Toffeefudgecake · 08/07/2011 18:05

Oh, remembering that this is a Flylady thread, not just a chatting one - I did my crisis clean this morning, using my timer. It really is a very effective way of sorting out the house quickly.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 08/07/2011 18:13

Oh, Toffee that's brilliant all round for you and DS1, made me feel all teary too. Well done on the crisis clean also

Toffeefudgecake · 08/07/2011 20:03

Thanks, WhoKnows. It was one of those perfect moments Smile.

Have just waved MIL off to her new flat. She and DH have had a long day, dealing with grumpy removal men (or 'removable men' as she calls them) and piles of boxes, but she seems really cheery in spite of it and so happy to be here near us. We are all going round to help her unpack tomorrow, although I'm not quite sure how much help the boys will be Hmm.

swanriver · 08/07/2011 22:30

Roundup PART 1 (in case conk out occurs)

ellie's daughter has been busy as a trainee hairdresser
Toffee gave her MIL a lovely welcome, and her ds's classmates gave him a warm welcome too
Whoknows's dcs were suitably impressed by their mother's efforts running cake sale and behaved beautifully. She also emptied sandpit, a job that in our house takes at least three years to complete (we still have some old sand btw in the corner)
Cobweb is worried about her list lengthening but was reassured that the firm boundaries of work usually reduce the stress inducing endlessness of most home lists...
SC was actually quite alarming in her depiction of the efficiency with which her home is run Shock as was Whoknows

will reconvene roundup in mo, testing testing

swanriver · 08/07/2011 22:35

OFM was in search of lingerie, and a glass of wine at some point
Pink was spicing up her living room walls, and organising Rainbows
Blue daren't scroll, but hope you are well
Reastie hope you are feeling better for cudding dd, anxiety takes its toll, hope you make right decision about the Mat leave/freelance
Silken and anyone else Feet? hope you are well too...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 08/07/2011 22:41

Thanks Swan. When i was doing the roundups I found the safest way was to have a Word window next to the MN window and type the roundup on that, cut and past it accross and then put in the asterisks before posting.

Night all.

swanriver · 08/07/2011 22:42

so far so good..Hmm

Done
further to shopping
cooked supper
read school reports (so bleugh - what do they mean? "Ds requires support in designing slippers" Confused ?????? then" He can use a multi media authoring program to organise refine and present a series of linked multimedia pages" [now totally confused - but [thinks ahead] this may be useful to technologically challenged parents Hmm
washed up
looked woeful so dh played pretend badminton in garden with dcs for a long time
rescued hall

surrounded by piles as usual alas, now cardboard, uniform returns and reports, and tentative "early packing" heaps

swanriver · 08/07/2011 22:45

Whoknows there you have lost me, as I can't do anything Windowy, and can't even use Word on this computer Blush

Makingchanges · 08/07/2011 22:45

Toffe well done to you and you DS. Level 4's are great and I'm sure going to the party will have done him no end of good.

Pink your murder party sounds fab - I hope you have fun.

Oh no Ellie - Hopefully the parents will understand that this is just what children do.

Whoknows your school garden sounds fab and I'm sure you were so proud of DCs - The sound like they did you proud.

OFM I refuse to buy bras at normal shops now as it was just too much time and effort to get the right one (I'm rather large so just finding a shop that did them was tough enough) I take a trip to Leeds every 6 months or so and get measured and treat myself in Bravissimo. a bit more expensive but they a fab, plus if i need anythingnot in stock they send to my home in a day or so.

Hi to anyone else I missed. Today has been a mixed day. Dropped DD off at school and went to gym only to get a phone call when I got hom from FIL to say he had been called to school to get DD due to earache. 5 minutes after Calpol had been administered so was right as rain (I think she was exaggerating the pain in the first place) so I have had DD at home all afternoon. Did still manage another 4 loads of washing (Two of those were towels as DH had stockpiled the dirty ones instead of putting them in the washing) and have deep cleaned the ensuite and normal bathrooms. They haven'tbeen that clean since they were painted about 5 years ago. I was ruthless with the toiletries.

Just had a pizza and beer and now off to bed. Up early for dance class tomorrow if DD is up to it then a sports widow this weekend due to DH playing cricket tomorrow and golf on Sunday. I'm hoping DD plays with friends and I get lots of flying done so I can have some time to myself whilst DD is at school next week.

Back tomorrow

Appendix

CHB is looking forward to Deathly Hallows 2 by her name and has done sterling job on her paperwork
Linzer is going on holiday soon and will have a fantastic time Smile
Bartlett has an Organised Mum Life book, and is still shredding
Blue is so right that there are loads of lovely things to do when you are seniorcitizen older (I often wonder whether I could disguise myself and join all the activities laid on round here, art classes, rambling, flower arranging history lectures,, architectural walks, ball room dancing) Not to speak of grandchildren minding Envy which I have to say I am sorely in need of...

Toffee that must be quite hard for your DH saying goodbye to childhood home, it will probably take a while to hit him. Well done on the SATs, you see parent power can equal classroom teaching Grin just merely in terms of the academic input

swanriver · 08/07/2011 23:02

and MC in the nick of time has done another 4 loads o washing for the Roundup Smile

ah cat wants some attention now, I will tiptoe away...

swanriver · 08/07/2011 23:04

MC yes it is frustrating having not quite ill, but not quite recovered dcs at home when you aren't expecting it. This week with dd, though cosy, has not been that constructive, and I feel like next week is goign to be aserious panic before I go on holiday.

swanriver · 08/07/2011 23:07

O, only just noticed the wizard smileys [hshock] Brand placement or what? I'm a bit surprised...I see now why CHB has changed her name - influenced...[hhmm]

BlueEyeshadow · 08/07/2011 23:10

Thanks for multiple round-ups swan!

Ta-da!
Mission
Laundry away
Cooked tea
Called builders/kitchen fitters (which DH won't do for some reason)
Trying to get to grips with Twitter - failing!

Not a lot else really. Oh well. Tip run tomorrow and lots of gardening/kitchen related stuff. Can't wait!

Love the sound of your murder mystery Pink. Haven't hosted one for ages but we've got several sets in the back of a cupboard somewhere!

Waves to all. Good night.

ColdHeartedBellatrix · 09/07/2011 00:26

I resent that I changed my name before the wizardy hats. But kinda chuffed that HQ saw sense. Bit of fun and all that.

Bit of a fail on the paper work front as I still have a box of paperwork that needs filing. But did enough to scarper off training. Am absolutely crackered so will post linkys and head off to bed.

Linkys*

Babystep is Decluttering the fly lady way instructions here

No mission or decluttering in zone family fun time as it is the weekend.

saturday's reminder type thingy

have a good weekend.

ColdHeartedBellatrix · 09/07/2011 00:26

Echo that Swan thankyou for the multiple sets of roundups!!!!!

ColdHeartedBellatrix · 09/07/2011 00:28

God i am grumpily tired tonight Blush sorry.

swanriver · 09/07/2011 10:02

I hope everyone is still asleep or at the very least sipping freshly brewed [hbrew] (so long as it doesn't turn you into toads Wink

dd is anointing my face with "everyday sunshine" [in tube form]

off to music now...looking more closely at Ds1's glowing music report from school I'm sorry to see the teacher was referring to someone else, as he was written "her" in part of it Hmmmeanwhile, Violin teacher report said he is great in violin except for the "quality of the sound" Shock

lots to sort out today, and it's taken me 20 mins to log on. Dh says if I delete some stuff (dcs seem to have downloaded various things) from the computer it might work better but workiing out how to do it, and if necessary persuading him to do it may take some nervous energy.

Makingchanges · 09/07/2011 13:04

Good afternoon everyone. I am really grumpy today, been up since 5am with DD. I am not good without sleep anymore.

Made it to dance class only for dance teacher to have gone on hols and not book replacement. One of kids club staff covered it eventually after missing a quarter of classtime but DH and another dad complained anyway.

DD seems to be fine now if extremely tired and therefore clingy - have so far had numerous games of connect 4 and played with her horses and dolls. Unfortunatley neighbourhood kids seem to have gone out so she only has me for company.

Jobs I'm hoping to get done today

  • Ironing pile in spare room
  • Sort out at least some of clothes and bag up those that don't fit or I don't wear any more
  • Work out how to sell on ebay - I serious need of a cash injection.

Right DD is setting up another game for me to play so I guess I'd better go - Wonder if I can bribe her into tidying with me.

Hope you are all having a great family fun day.

elliepac · 09/07/2011 13:34

Today i have mainly done fuck all. And i literally mean nothing. i have paid the cm and that is it.

The intention is that i will become a flying dynamo this afternoon.

We shall see....

NickNacks · 09/07/2011 14:33

Hello all!

I am back with two lovely pieces of news (for me).

Firstly thumb is getting better very quickly, splint is off so i can start to use it again, gently.

Secondly, after a few thousand rows talk DH and i have agreed to split to housework, me downstairs and him upstairs. I CM from the house so only fair that i do a bit more and sometimes i can do a little bit whilst i work if they all nap together.

So yippee!

Like you ellie I have done zilch today, not even dressed me and the kids (DH at work) but glad to see you paid the CM Wink
