Morning everyone,

I didn't know if pmpy would get on today and I didn't want the thread to run out of space for our chat housework musings so thought I would create another one.

Hope you don't mind pmpy!

I have just stripped the DCs beds. In DS's bed, as well as the usual pillows, duvet, blanket, cushion, 20 teddies, I have found the following. At least 5 books, several items of plastic food plus tongs, two cars, a notebook, several drawings, loads of coins, an egg timer, several muslin squares, the list goes on. I just pulled the sheet off from under it all like magicians do with tablecloths. Aargh.

Linzer - if I did a rotating menu that kept both DCs happy it would read pasta/pizza/pasta/pizza/pasta/pizza. Those are the only two cooked meals they both like. Does my head in.

Making - what sort of PGCE is it? I have considered it myself from time to time.

systemsaddict · 22/02/2011 10:25

Bloody good job I did declutter the sitting room. Sat watching a film with dp last night, thinking, there is a funny smell in here ... is there some yoghurt somewhere? Eventually pulled the throw off the sofa and my daughter had poured what must have been a WHOLE cup of hot chocolate into the sofa. It had been there at least one day, possibly two, hidden by the throw, and was smelling absolutely disgusting. So spent last night scrubbing it then this morning once the kids were up got the carpet/upholstery shampooer onto it - it is a futon-style sofabed so needed to be laid out onto the floor to clean and dry - this would not have been possible before this weekend!

No more milky drinks in the living room for her for a while ... it does feel a bit two steps forward one step back though! I really hope the shampooing will be enough to get the smell out but it had soaked all the way through, I fear it may be the end for the sofabed, and we can't afford a replacement Sad

osella · 22/02/2011 10:25

Morning everyone, didn't get to spend 15 mins decluttering my bedroom as last night, but did wash dishes and shined my sink. Have a habit of letting dishes pile up which puts me in automatic bad form in the mornings so felt good to see the sink free of dishes this morning and shining:)

ColdHeartedBitch · 22/02/2011 10:45

Bicarb solution it if the shampoo doesnt work. really good at removing smells from fabrics and upolstery. System

MissJ NW Uk its only on the hills though so ds played in the snow and i watched from the warmth of the car. he had a bout 10mins which was enough for him to run a load of energy off.

Today I have had breakfast in bed. Ds has been tidying his room and has put the basket of clothes away that i never got around to and put in the bath out of the way.

Done today:
Lie in
breakfast
several games monopoly deal
clothes basket emptied ds
Ds' room tidied up ds has been working on this but i am not allowed to see yet Shock

So i am going to have to get moving and get on with stuff. Lots to do today, ready for tomo.

OgreTripletsAreSoCute · 22/02/2011 11:06

Eewww, Systems how horrid. Agree with CHB - make a paste of bicarb and water and scrub it in, leave to dry and hoover off.

Osella - well done, one thing at a time, glad you are seeing the benefits already.

Have spent 10 mins decluttering our bedroom (hate the phrase master bedroom) and another on the lounge floor which I have hoovered. Both look hugely improved. It's the DCs rooms and landings which are the worst now, DD is hopeless she gets all sorts of stuff out to make little worlds for her dolls and teddies and never puts it away. I can hear her chattering away upstairs while DS is playing a nice tune on the xylophone. Tea break time for me as friends should be here in a minute.

swanriver · 22/02/2011 11:54

Another friend round [sigh] mine this time..so no housework done
see how much I can get done in an hour before I pick up ds2 from Multi-sports (he opted for pm at home relaxing) Other two will be there till 4.30.

and whoosh, off I go...

ColdHeartedBitch · 22/02/2011 12:18

wish me luck I am going to discover the inside of my car Last done before christmas but far too many long journeys = yuck.

feetheart · 22/02/2011 13:06

Sneaking on quickly whilst pizzas cooking and Hama beads are on the go :)

DC up at decent time considering they both slept in DD's bed - very sweet hearing them chatting this morning.
Birthday girl is having a lovely time, eyes were like BiscuitBiscuit when she opened her present from us - a DS - think she thought she would never get one as she knows how expensive they are. Cunning child has already worked out that its an ebay-special :o

Have painted glass, made pizzas and now doing Hama beads whilst waiting for pizzas.
Peppermint creams and more Hama after food I think then they are on their own :)

Catch up later

swanriver · 22/02/2011 13:46

party sounds as if it is going very very well Grin

systemsaddict · 22/02/2011 14:33

Bicarb, of course! I use it for fridge smells all the time, hadn't thought of it for this. Thanks!!!

systemsaddict · 22/02/2011 14:34

feetheart that would be my dream party, even now.

CHB that job is on my to-do list, I'm trying to pretend I don't know that the door seal is broken so underneath the rubbish the car mats are going mouldy Blush Blush

ColdHeartedBitch · 22/02/2011 14:41

Door seal might explain why the carpet in the driver's foot well is sodden, either that or i am going to need some welding done before its mot

Ds is over tired. I think my ears are about to bleed. It is the end of the world and the whole world apparantly needs to know about it.

Makingchanges · 22/02/2011 15:11

CHB Good luck with the car tidying - that is the one job I hate, mainly cos I usually find lollies and food rotting where DD has hidden it.

Ogre its a primary PGCE - Very hard work but hopefully will be worth it. One minute i'm loving it, next minute I'm sobbing at how hard it is but seems like we are all the same.

Linzer i suspect this will be my first and only venture into the world of pancakes but if DD has asked to try a new food then I'm not gonna argue. (Although may let DH do the cooking Wink )

Feet Party sounds brilliant - well done you. I wimped out of party at home and did play centre - DD is hankering after house party this year.

Well have been on 3rd swimming lesson today and swam by myelf Grin teacher said about 8 metres so was very pleased. Also quite scared at some points so swings and roundabouts. Have also got a reply back and managed to book onto my first Zumba class at the weekend, really want to try it but worried I might end up in a heap I am so unfit.

Job update

  • Wash our bedding
  • Wash DHs cricket whites and my gym clothes - Done
  • Hoover through downstairs Done
  • 15 minutes on clothes pile
  • decide whats for tea -WW toad in the hole I think is today
  • DD is insisting on pancakes today having looked at pancake day at school so work out those (i've never had a pancake before)
  • Start uni essay
  • Recycling
  • Tidy DDs bedroom
  • Sort out gym bag Done
  • Sort out childcare for tomorrow Done
  • another chapter of book Done
  • clean en-suite bathroom

Mmmm seem to be avoiding cleaning - right best get on - Back later

missjulie · 22/02/2011 15:46

Hello lovlies, just a quickie. Today isn't going very well! Am SO tired. Finally got DD to sleep around 12.30ish last night, she woke at 2ish, went back to sleep. I crawled into bed, and tossed and turned for hours, and saw 4.30am.

Haven't got much done today; up, DD and I sorted, fed, watered, played with Grin Dishes done, sink shined, mail opened, texts, emails, MN threads replied to, that's it! Just away for a shower Blush and going to attempt to drag myself out for a walk with DD...catch you later, if am still awake! x

swanriver · 22/02/2011 15:49

I have read a History book Smile
I have practiced the piano
Ds2 has practiced the piano

other than that only random Flying Hmm
put pjs on stairs
washed up some saucepans
unloaded and reloaded dw

friend has just invited me to Sunday lunch in March Smile

MC well done on swimming
pancakes are very easy if you have a PANCAKE PAN. V important. Can be cheap, curved sides, very non-stick - buy from Morrisons or any good supermarket...

CHB I think give car a break and take sad child inside for cuddle or outside for another run.
Ds2 is now complaining, I may have to do the same...

ColdHeartedBitch · 22/02/2011 16:35

Nah - good dose of Ben 10 on tv and ignored him. slightly calmer child restored Grin car has also been ignored Blush

Stillchuckingit · 22/02/2011 17:42

Hello everyone

Quick in and out (as the actress said to the bishop Wink)

Feeling chipper as it isn't getting dark here until about 6pm nowadays. Can get so much more done in the evenings.

Thanks for round-up last night Pushme - only way I can keep up with this thread atm!!

Well done on the party front Feetheart
Yes Ogre come to think of it, master bedroom is wholly misogynistic phrase. Will call it something else from now on - pigsty slagheap dumping ground ... boudoir??? Grin

Waves to MissJ and thanks for your round-up too

Must go. Been out all day. DD has friends over. We are making home-made pizza.

Humungous waves to everyone!!

swanriver · 22/02/2011 18:19

MissJ hope things right themselves tonight
CHB Ds2 has been a bit extra-planetary today Smile Finally persuaded him to draw a picture of the blessed TimeMachine.
And dd. But that was only because she had her friend (who is a very good artist) round after sports. Otherwise I think I'd still be here pathetically trying to get them to draw something, anything.

Walked friend home, and now

Mess and muddle - and supper cooking, dcs now watching CBBC - several new hotspots have appeared.

ColdHeartedBitch · 22/02/2011 18:33

Ds' swimming teacher has him sussed and has worked him really hard today Grin He is in a better mood although lively. Car never got done but washing has gone on. Will fly through jobs first thing tomo before heading off. Nearly bedtime and i think i will crash early tonight too. 12hrs sleep sounds just the ticket atm. Expect a more realistic 10hrs which will be blissful.

Have a good week, i am deliberately going offline til sunday evening. Or at least that is the plan atm.

swanriver · 22/02/2011 18:43

SC the light is lovely now, proper "Spring" light, even when it is as cold as winter still Hmm
Funny that.

Toffeefudgecake · 22/02/2011 19:03

Just popping in quickly to say hello. Am having a lovely holiday from Flying, but we are driving home tomorrow, so will be back to normal then.

Absolutely loved 'The King's Speech', which DH and I finally saw yesterday.

My lovely mum has just brought me a glass of Wine, so am going to go and be sociable. See you on the thread tomorrow.

Waves to all.

LinzerTorte · 22/02/2011 19:42

After taking four children ice skating - one of whom refused to go on the ice but didn't want to be left alone either, another absolute beginner who didn't want me to move more than a metre away from her - I now need a large Wine. Or possibly several Wine Wine Wine. To cut a long story short, never again.

Dartsonwednesdays · 22/02/2011 19:55

I am frozen almost solid!!!!

DP has been trying to get in touch with plumbers, but not much luck today, earliest we can get anyone in around here is thursday, cause no-one's at home tomorrow, and we've no chance of getting off work until thursday Sad.

Luckily, sort off, we do have some underfloor heating and a front room fire (that's about on it's last legs) putting some heat out, so not desperate. Although, I confess to looking like the michelin man gone wrong, what with extra layers Grin

An electrician friend checked the wiring stuff, no go.

Meanwhile,

morning routine (holiday version)
dp took kids to GPs, who took them to the dentist while DP tried getting hold of plumbers, etc.
some shopping
dishwasher (it's warm standing next to it)
supper
bed, under our super toastie quilt

We're hardy sort, we'll cope.

DartsRus · 22/02/2011 20:06

And with dd looking over my shoulder, I've been told I have to tell you my new name, because she came up with it Grin

ColdHeartedBitch · 22/02/2011 20:11
