Welcome to the November Fledgling Flying thread.

From the 1st of the month we shall be decluttering and taming the chaos using baby steps, missions and zones. A great big thank you to MrsDinky who looked after us last month.

We are not strict followers of the fat fairy and take some of the babysteps wearing shoes indoors with a pinch of salt. Also advise against signing up for the fairy's emails.

All are welcome, jump on board for one of our three methods of chaos attack:

  1. Baby steps
  2. Baby steps and 15mins decluttering in current zone
  3. Re-inforce the baby steps and daily mission

This month the fat fairy is gearing up for the feastive period. So I shall also post the christmas mission for those who wish are brave enough to look.

In here the motto is:

*"No perfection! Do what you can, but be realistic about what you can do."

Happy flying.

Hi all, got back from a couple of days away in Scotland last night and spent today stripping the plaster off the chimney breast. Despite constant cleaning the living room is now covered in a layer of fine plaster dust. Now trying to decide whether to replaster or try to clean it up and leave it stripped back to the stone. I think it would look quite good (sadnstone), but might be a bit noughties interior decor wise.

Off to catch up with the thread now Smile

pushmepullyou · 07/11/2010 22:08

highlighter glad your DT is feeling better.

PA good to 'see' you. Agree Waitrose is fab. I would bankrupt myself if I went all the time though. The essentials range is fab and very cost effective, but then I get to the till and find that I have also picked up a dressed lobster or similar Blush.

Hope you are feeling better DEM and that your DS has gone to sleep!

Hi too nettie, bob, sylvia, OM, ellie and everyone else Smile

DidEinsteinsMum · 07/11/2010 23:04

right ds crashed earlier and instead of that long soak in clean bathroom i have been losing my voice by singing along to youtube and being creative.

Morning all. I hate Mondays! dd was up and down all night with a nasty cough and I ended up sleeping in her toddler bed (good job I am a short arse). Today I have to do a 4 hour round trip to Manchester for a course at the exam board headquarters. 4 hrs travelling for a 3 and a half hr course Hmm. Suffice to say there will not be much flying going on as I won't be home until seven.

highlighter so pleased that dt2 is getting better.

Have a good day everyone.0

MrsDinky · 08/11/2010 07:46

Oh dear, same here Ellie except DH slept in the toddler bed, he is shorter than me and would not subject DD to his snoring, she came in with me.

DidEinsteinsMum · 08/11/2010 08:26

Wave to me as you go past ellie.

Will be back when procrastinating child is at school. Hmm

Morning all...

Oh dear ellie and mrsd. Hope you both have good days all the same! So pleased your DT2 is on the mend highlighter. mm going into 'cook' is no bother honestly Wink though it might not be today as it is pouring here atm!
Bob - you DS sounds absolutely fine re the reading, just keep it up!(lots of books in his stocking too!)
Waves to PMPY and DEM

Here's today's list:

Morning routine done
DW done
Laundry todo
Make cake todo
Go to WW (not looking forward to this but something needs to be done so I can do up my coat buttons!!)
Write up lesson obs veryurgentandIneednaggingonthis
Hoover downstairs
Clean shower room
List Xmas pressies I already have so I don't double-up!

That'll do I think.....See you all later.

MrsDinky · 08/11/2010 09:21

Well, have deposited DS at school in the pouring rain and am now at home again with DD. She is fine in herself but all wheezy and not much voice, I imagine she will be tired too (I certainly am). So that's today's plans all up the spout (was supposed to be going to the gym, Sainsburys, coffee with friends). I might get on with some Flying instead.

Today's list then

Washing x 1
DW - empty and refill
Menu planning
Sainsburys - DD has agreed to go provided she can sit in the trolley (she is nearly 5 so I will probably put my back out getting her in).
Hoover
Ironing
Beavers

Ellie - hope your day goes OK, plenty of coffee needed I think.

Highlighter - glad to hear DT2 is on the mend.

OM / MiniM - I have never heard of this Cook! shop before, however have just found that there is one about 15 mins away from here, might have to investigate next time I'm in that town.

Better go and start doing stuff I suppose. See you later.

SylviaPankhurst · 08/11/2010 10:02

Hello everyone

Today I have

Cleared kitchen - stacked dishwasher
Washing
Sorting washing

Still to go

Mission
Shine and swipe
Sink
Dryer and more washing
Filing
15 minutes study
Work stuff
Sort mail

feetheart · 08/11/2010 10:07

Highlighter - hope you and DT2 slept well in your own beds. Take it easy on yourself after what must have been a scary, emotional w/e.

Ellie and MrsD and DEM - hope today goes well inspite of lack of sleep. (MrsD - shhh, DS still goes in the trolley sometimes and he was 5 yesterday :))

Welcome to Dolanette and Cakecuresall (indeed it does:))

Had lovely, though hectic w/e and am now the mother to a 7 year old and a 5 year old - eek! DS's party went really well, lots of bouncing, running around games and crisps/choc biscuits seemed to be the order of the day and I think everyone had a great time. Yesterday, his actual birthday, was much quieter, with a pub lunch (as requested :)), more present opening and the F1 - complete with his own chequered flag Grin

Happy boy :)

Today my list is going to be short as I have one BIG task that I have to get done - deadline is 18th November but I want it out of the way asap. So:

  • Morning routine - nearly done
  • Info for Inland Revenue gathered, copied, appropriate bits highlighted and sent

Will report back at lunchtime and, if its going well, may add a few things. Just need to stop procrastinating now and GET ON WITH IT.

loosinas · 08/11/2010 10:45

where's the best thread to get some daily motivation to sort my tip out ?? xx

Toffeefudgecake · 08/11/2010 11:38

Loosinas - welcome. Flylady would say go and shine your sink. This really does lift your spirits, even when the rest of the house is in chaos.

Then do a crisis clean. (Ignore the 'get dressed to shoes' nonsense, but the rest of it is good advice).

That should make you feel better Smile.

Big list today, in fact I think it might spill over onto tomorrow.

AM routine
Home clean
Finish sorting bedroom for MIL
Put Hallowe'en stuff away (how many times have I written that on my list since 31st? Blush)
Tumbledryer on
Iron school shirts
DS2's party - wrap presents, order stuff for cake and party bags
Get PO to deliver package
Phone hospital re MIL (book appt with dr for DH)
Tesco online order (nb party food and stuff for soup)
School run
PM routine
Eve routine

Glad DT2 is home again, Highlighter.

Anyone know any good soup for convalescents? Have ordered soup freezer bags from Lakeland Smile and am going to make soups for when MIL comes here to convalesce (she has had MRSA as well as appendicitis, so is very poorly). I suppose any soup is good for you, but are there any particularly healthy soups that are easy on the stomach? Chicken soup is the only one I can think of so far.

Back later.

optimisticmumma · 08/11/2010 13:27

I was going to suggest chicken soup toffee so no help - sorry!

Just a quick post from me to get motivated and see what I have/haven't done!

Done
Morning routine
stripped DS1 bed
Put on a load
emptied DW
Been to WW
Made cake (not for me!)
Hoovered downstairs
Cleaned bathroom/shower room

To do
WRITE UP LESSON OBS (shouting at myself!)
Do 15 mins in the kitchen
Finish writing xmas pressie list
ice cake

Catch up with you all later...welcome loosinas

systemsaddict · 08/11/2010 13:30

Fireworks party went v. well, house was tidy (well bottom half of it was anyway - after dp went into manically houseproud neurotic shouty mode, sadly. Am still Angry as the house is miles better than usual and there was no need for that!) and food was great! Didn't get to see the display from outside as ds dissolved into screaming hysteria as soon as first bangs went off, but once we were inside craning our necks to see sideways through a double glazed window he was much happier. Ah well, he liked the glowsticks anyway!

Did all my party list apart from tidying the kids' rooms. This has been on my list all week and still haven't got there ...

But this morning did manage:
morning routine:

  • dishwasher emptied
  • laundry on, hanging up delegated
  • cat litter scooped
  • breakfast cleared away AND - tidied living room.

Tonight's plan:

  • tidy kids' rooms 5 mins each (note breakdown into babysteps)
  • evening routine: load dishwasher, shine sink, wipe and sweep dining room, tidy downstairs.

Great to hear you and DT home Highlander.

DID know what you mean about the run-up to storms, my ds goes berserk just beforehand - took us a while to work out what was going on!

systemsaddict · 08/11/2010 13:40

oh and forgot to put on my 'did' list, cleared away flour and water mix from ALL over the house before the party because ds had had a happy hour or so adding water to flour in different amounts to find out what it did (while I felt smug at allowing him such excellent sensory input) before suddenly deciding to rampage through the house with gunge up to his elbows.

Toffeefudgecake · 08/11/2010 13:46

Have put a thread on recipes, but just thought I'd ask you lovely lot too - any ideas for making a Spiderman cake anyone? Am not very confident and was going to buy one from Tesco, but they don't bloody do it anymore. And no-one else does either. So now I have to make it myself. I can either buy a topper or I can buy a Spiderman cake decoration and attempt to make skyscrapers (potential for showers or praise from envious mums or for absolute disaster there, I think).

Ideas welcome!

systemsaddict · 08/11/2010 13:58

Asda do one, Toffee, if you can get to one / get an online delivery?

Toffeefudgecake · 08/11/2010 13:59

Thank you Systems - there's one on DH's way back from work! Grin

feetheart · 08/11/2010 14:07

Toffee - I have gone the 'topper' route for the past 2 years - big choc cake with Superman logo (last year) or Toy Story (this year) - you can get them personalised as well, DS's said 'Happy 5th Birthday DS'.
I used Picture My Cake this year.

Still got lots of compliments from parents and very little chance of messing it up :)

Toffeefudgecake · 08/11/2010 14:11

Have just looked at the cake on the ASDA website and there it is - DS2 will love it! And it saves me an awful lot of stress. Have been fretting over it all morning.

DH has just phoned me and received instructions.

Thanks again, Systems.

Toffeefudgecake · 08/11/2010 14:14

Thanks for the link, Feet. If Asda let us down, I'll do the 'topper'. Might get some fairy-cake toppers though - can't mess those up, can I? Blush

Toffeefudgecake · 08/11/2010 14:15

I mean, fairy cakes in addition to the main cake, not instead of.

sittinghippo · 08/11/2010 14:20

Pumpkin soup Toffee ! Your post got me thinking and now I am in the mood for some soup making, and have actually jumped in the car and driven to Tesco to source a pumpkin. I'm going to consider it a pregnancy craving, just that you put the idea into my head!

Another simple but yummy one is the good old fashioned leek and potato soup. I always add some bacon to mine for the protein.

I have recipes if you would like them, although I am sure they are the most basic soups to chuck together.

Today I have done:
Swish and Swipe
Shined sink
Beds
DW
General tidy round of all the clutter that has sprung up over the weekend

To do:
Make Pumpkin soup
Hoover
Mop kitchen floor
Mission

My cat is currently sat staring at the bottom of my oven, so a nagging suspicion he has brought in something living for me to deal with.

Hello to everyone, and welcome to loosinas
