Can you weigh it down at all Mini? Mine is light, but luckily with 2dc, a huge buggy and a water container filled with warm water in, it probably weighs the same as a tank!

Staying in this morning awaiting a delivery, should do stuff but really cba. Need to take a pudding to friend's for dinner, but on a cooking strike, so will be a Waitrose trip instead i think Xmas Grin

I could finish christmas cards and list of presents to get etc....

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 02/12/2010 09:50

Oh, and cbeebies have a nice template of an angel for the tree on their website if others are stuck in with kids and nothing to do.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 02/12/2010 09:58

Moved into my house a year ago today Grin

Ooh HMHB you need to lend mini the dress, purple dress and red shoes sound great!

Ironing is now a tower of doom so should probably focus on that today...

minimammoth · 02/12/2010 11:04

Good idea Alice, it has got a suitcase full of books in the back at mo, so I'll leave them in.

We are North West Essex.. If I trip over, I could be in either Herts or Cambs, right on the border. We only had the teensiest smattering this morning so roads are still fine. Journey to school been slow every day this week, but do-able. I gather that half the county and Suffolk (not all that far away!) are absolutely covered and most schools closed. We seem to have escaped the worst so far..

DH's trains up the spout though, he may get off and get the next one coming back... Most of his colleagues live Saaarf of London, so completely stranded. Only him and one other Norf of London boy made it in yesterday, and looks the same today.

Today is Christmas list today - need to get cracking. Only 3 weeks... yikes.

Hello all, a lot to catch up on here!

Shoes sound fab Mini! There's just something about a pair of red high heels. Could work with little black dress and red fascinator/flower in hair/corsage, no?

You all sound so organised with your Christmas trees. We're planning on getting one next week but as PILs are here trying to do as much with them as possible. However I currently have a reprieve as they are snowed in in the holiday cottage they're renting a little way north of us.

Sadly no mini-Comtessa arrived yet. Despite more interrupted nights, calls to labour suite and "ten more minutes of this and we're heading in" type instructions to DH. Waiting in for MW appt now so hoping will get sweep or similar.

Onto the list:

Today
Up and dressed done
MW appt - still waiting
Check bank done
Change sheets done
Make shopping list in progress
Go for walk and post DVD
Clothes to charity shop
Food shopping
Nap
Washing
Washing up
Work out how to put up blind
Put up blind
Jump up and down/borrow pogo stick/go sledging/find a chandelier to swing from...

Other
Sort spare room for mum
Do more to baby's room
Put Ikea drawers together
Order/decide on chest of drawers
Find and wrap rest of Christmas gifts
Parcel clothes to send to F, N, A
Find Lovefilm DVD case and post back
W's birthday gifts
DH's Christmas shirt. Piggy bank?
Websites!

JustKeepSparkling · 02/12/2010 13:00

Hi Comtessa, how frustrating for you. Did you say your PIL are over for a long while? so no pressure to pop before they leave (even if they could in this weather!)?

OH Comtessa - hope things happen soon....

JKS - the builders ARE working through this weather. Had to stop work on the foundations that they started at the beginning of last week, but there is so much to do inside - we are keeping the shell of the house, but at least 2/3 of it all the walls and ceilings are coming out/down, so they are current on the case with that... Flippin cold though. They have one small room that they are keeping warm with a little heater, and that is it. The bits they are working in are baltic.

Crikey! Just noticed we are at 960 messages - what's our new thread title going to be ladies???? Suppose it ought to be vaguely festive now - we have entered December after all. Xmas Grin

PlumBumandBaublesMum · 02/12/2010 13:54

Polishing our balls and dusting our stockings, slatterns are sweeping into christmas???????????

purplearmadillo · 02/12/2010 14:32

Hey all.

Comtessa, when is your actual due date? Is there any danger of a Christmas baby?? Hope its not too snowy where you are.

We've got about 12 inches here now (East Sussex). Its very pretty but I feel quite isolated, its my first winter in the country and I am afraid of driving in the snow, even though we bought a 4 wheel drive tank when we moved especially for this kind of occasion.

Plum like the title Xmas Grin

JKS DS had lots of chest problems, pneumonia etc, so we was tested for cystic fibrosis and other chest issues. It turns out he has reflux disease, which he had as a baby, but didn't really grow out of, so he was refluxing into his lungs causing repeated infections. Since he started the meds he's much better. The latest issue is that he looks like he might need tonsils and adenoids out. Poor little man, he's so adorable and he gets so scared of hospitals now. I have this feeling of dread every time I head towards GOSH. I know what you mean too about the walk, on Sunday morning I couldn't find a cab until I had walked as far as aldwych pushing DS and pulling a suitcase. It was FREEZING!!! Xmas Sad - blue for cold not sadness!!

Well with lots of snow, DD and DS here and DH, not much going on listwise today.

So far:

unload dishwasher DONE
check bank account DONE
dusted living room DONE
tidied shoes and coats DONE
made lunch DONE
checked emails DONE
put away washing DONE -EVEN DH HAS BEEN NAGGED INTO DOING HIS

Think that's it for today, I am going to curl up on the sofa with a book and wait for DH to light the fire. There are good things about country cottages after all Xmas Grin

comtessa · 02/12/2010 15:07

Loving your birth plan JKS, same here please! PILS over until about 5th January, so not too much rush from their point of view.

Purple my due date was 27th November so thankfully NO chance at all of Christmas baby!

I like the idea for new thread title Plum!

So, so happy with my MW. She braved the ice and snow (particularly bad on my street) to come and see me for home visit this lunchtime and gave me cervial sweep. AND offered me another one for Monday, if I want, AND booked me in for induction on Tuesday 7th December. I'm hoping things kick off before that but just so relieved that an end (and a baby!) is in sight.

MW has also banned me from going out today so that's cut down my list somewhat (happy, lazy emoticon).

Today
Up and dressed done
MW appt done
Check bank done
Change sheets done
Make shopping list in progress
Nap
Washing
Washing up
Work out how to put up blind
Put up blind

JustKeepSparkling · 02/12/2010 15:19

That's a good MW Comtessa!

Well we tried to go out, pulled boys on sledge to corner shop but tehy'd run out of Toy Story stickers so we came home again, went into the garden for a play which was fine until DS2 fell over and realised he was wet & freezing. So he screamed until i brought him and changed his wet clothes. Not a snow lover then!
DS1 loved it all - really could do with DH to go out and be silly with him.
We made a quick effort at a snowman anyway :)

Comtessa - it is good to have a plan :)

Mini - yay for DH re. the shoes! My DH phoned earlier to say that he won £100 on the lottery last night and did I want to use it to buy my boots - so yay for that too! Xmas Smile

Purple - that sounds lovely, I am a little Xmas Envy

Good title Plum

Friend made it over, and we managed to get to music so at least DS has had an interesting day today. DH working from home tomorrow and going to take him sledging while I read my book in the bath, can't wait!
Roads were a bit scary, even though I was only going round the corner. Nearly beached the car trying to get back into our road, which would have been embarrassing not to mention a total PITA for everyone else who lives here!!

Oh JKS well done. I'm hoping that once I've got some better footwear I'll be braver about going outside with DS. Afraid of falling and landing on bump! DS had a stomp around in the front garden when we got back in from music which kept him happy :)

OP posts:
anonymousbird · 02/12/2010 16:45

Right, here goes for Christmas. I have my first Christmas night out tonight, so I need to get in the mood as of course, everyone will be talking about it!

  • Advent calendars DONE
  • Cards - have some, need to buy more
  • Names/address list - get this up to date
  • Stamps
  • Present list - who and what
  • Tree - buy next week, small one this year.
  • Find decs in the loft
  • Outside Lights - sort this weekend.
  • Food generally - meal planning, drinks, treats etc etc.
  • Work on Ocado order/butcher order/wine order (following from above!)
  • Find DC's stockings DONE
  • Christmassy outings - children's party at DH's office; special children's cinema showing both sorted so far.

What have I forgotten Confused? We aren't travelling anywhere, so I don't need to think about travel logistics.

minimammoth · 02/12/2010 18:23

What about 'Slatterns send their christmas lists to Santa, hoping for house elves help'

I don't possess a LBD, as I don't do black, always look ill, am too pale. But I have a gold silk number if I can get into it, its shorter so I can show off shoes Xmas Grin crash diet for er... 24hours.

purplearmadillo · 02/12/2010 18:59

Comtessa - yep, a Christmas baby unlikely then Grin, but at least you can tell him/her that they were a snow baby!! My brother was born mid-Feb and my mum is always saying how there was snow on the ground!!

anon enjoy your night out.

mini - 24 hour crash diet sounds like a plan, the dress sounds very pretty.

Ali - good news about the shoes, and lovely from your DS. The snow here today went over the top of my snow boots Xmas Hmm so that wasn't so good. DH ordered snow boots online at the beginning of the week. What's the bet they arrive after the snow has melted!!

Now, almost DC bedtime and I am debating whether I can justify making myself mulled wine when there is white open and in need of drinking in the fridge...

Re new title, could we be Snowy Slatterns? Not sure about the rest though, am not very imaginative!!

purplearmadillo · 02/12/2010 19:00

Ali - meant DH not DS Blush

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/12/2010 19:10

How about a combination of those titles? And please can we say baubles instead of balls otherwise I shall not be able to keep a straight face? Xmas Grin

'Polishing our baubles and dusting our stockings, Slatterns are writing their Christmas lists'.

Mini that sounds very glam, red shoes and gold dress!

Purple - my boots were dispatched today apparently on a next day delivery, but whether they turn up is another matter!
Mulled wine sounds good. If it wasn't for the bump I would join you :)

Anon - that list looks pretty comprehensive to me, can't see anything obvious missing.....

OP posts:
FreakoidOrganisoid · 02/12/2010 19:35

Glad I'm not the only one to snigger at balls Ali Grin Though teh dc call that sort of balls baubles anyway!

WastingAway · 02/12/2010 19:50

Evening!

I've had a busy day, struggled to get on with a list. Mostly due to DS not letting me do anything. FIL took us to the supermarket, so we're stocked up for a few days at least.

And our shed has been delivered. Grin I had to get FIL to comes back and help me shift it, the delivery bloke just left it at the side of the house. Hmm Not sure when that's getting built, we've over a foot of snow.

DH may be home for the day tomorrow, depends on the weather really.

Ali - crayons = Pampers babywipes. (Huggies aren't oily enough) Grin

Comtessa, hope it all gets started for you soon. Smile

NExt -

JustKeepSparkling · 02/12/2010 19:57

I'll go with anything for title really

Dh is on a moving train, yey! Hopefully home for next 3 days so he can sort proper snow time with DS1 :)

Wanted to point out that the boys really had pasta for tea, i just gave them some jacket potato as a test as i want them to like them. I love jackets :)

Mmm jackets. Fortunately DS is a fan, although he views anything on them with suspicion. But plain alongside meat and veg he will wolf down.

DS is in bed, not used to doing it on my own so that took ages. He was being a little and I ended up getting all shouty :( How on earth do you make a toddler do something they don't want to?
