Justkeep yes the charges we pay are to call landlines and mobiles. I tend to find that calling phones from Skype is more reliable than calling Skype to Skype. To call mobiles we just top up as we go, never more than about 10GBP per month usually. And the landline deal is a fixed cost of 7GBP per month.

BRRR. Electric off today for 'tree felling' I hope they bloody hurry up.
HMHB I think your cupboard understairs has ideas above its station Grin I mean we all like ambition in a cupboard, but it has to be nipped in the bud IMO.
HicCups is snowed in.
I am going to try an expedition to Worcs. Got black tie dinner friday and having a what to wear panic. At least it'll be warmer.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 01/12/2010 10:06

Morning everyone :)

Got to parents and back for haircut yesterday with no dramas on the roads.

Had another massive row with Mum about the ongoing situation with my brother, and I'm realising that a lot of my resentment towards him is actually resentment at how Mum has favoured him over the years.

I am wondering whether to suggest to her that she and I go to Relate or something to try and resolve things, but I suspect that would be met with a snort because she, of course, is perfectly justified in all she does and says.
Gah - I do love her, and often we get on brilliantly but fucking hell she knows just how to wind me up and hurt my feelings. :(
Sorry for swearing, rant over. Have been awake since 4am with this going over in my mind, not very healthy.

Consultant appointment today - need to argue my case for a section. So glad I'm going into it in a calm mental state having had a good night's sleep Hmm

Right that is enough self-pitying drivel from me today Grin

JKS - I am going to get some Merrell boots - waterproof and warm. They are expensive, but should last me for years and years.

Wasting :( Does MIL drive? Could she do you a quick mercy shop and drop it off for you?

Comtessa - you poor thing with all these contractions and no progress. Are you due a midwife app. to see if your cervix is doing anything favourable?
I think you are right to resign yourself though, I didn't and consequently went into my induction knackered and emotionally worn out. Not the wisest thing I ever did :)

TODAY
All up and dressed - Me and DS still in pjs
Spatone + vitamins
Breakfast and tidy kitchen - done
Playdough - in progress

Ali, Sad that sounds very stressful.
Didn't you have a section first time?

I don't think MIL would drive in this weather.
Ithink we'll manage today, DS is happily drinking water from his sports bottle, no argument, at which I was Shock but I might ask FIL or Step-MIL tomorrow.

Ooh yes, advent! Must dig out DS' advent calendar and try and stop him from wanting all the chocolates today Xmas Grin I wasn't going to get him a chocolate one, but my Mum has bought one for him so I guess he can have it.

Plum :( It's rubbish isn't it, falling out with family. And this time of year is bad because the pressure is on to 'sort things out so we can all have a nice Christmas'. Hope you can make some progress with your Dad.

OP posts:
FreakoidOrganisoid · 01/12/2010 10:47

Glad you came back Plum we were missing you

Very awkward left handed typing here, ds asleep on other arm.

Immaculate house neighbour opposite (the one who hoovers her walls on a reglular basis) has put her xmas tree up today. When we got up at 7.30 she was already up, dressed and had the tree up and was putting the lights on. She then spent three hours putting the baubles on and making sure they were all perfectly positioned Shock. Too much time goes into perfection for me to ever achieve it!

JustKeepSparkling · 01/12/2010 10:52

Freak - she is a nutter!! Does she have DC???

Ali - that is crap about your Mum, hope cons appt goes well today.

Well after waking at 4.45, DS2 is crashed out on the beanbag now Hmm
Ah well let me have a bath in peace, was invisaging him joining me, not quite what i wanted!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 01/12/2010 11:21

JKS she does have dc but older ones, one of them is mansized and works though not sure how old he is, the other is 10ish.

Anon dd's performance is on monday, will probably cry even if it's crap!

Ali me and my sister had similar (though when we were late teens/early twenties so perhaps less deep rooted or even important). After we left home we spent some time together without our parents and chatted on msn and kind of found out that we actually got on well without my mum playing us off against each other. Now when my mum talks about my sister I tend to tune out because I have learnt she is either trying to make me feel crap against her achievements or 'bitching' about her to try to come between us. Actually trying might be the wrong word, I'm not sure it's even intentional but that's the effect it has.

Comtessa she might come on ds' birthday in that case (10th Dec).

JustKeepSparkling · 01/12/2010 11:37

Hello everyone. Well school is closed, swimming and ballet cancelled so I have both DC here today. Its very snowy and festive though and I am feeling very happy. Xmas Smile

halfmum I love the idea of a nigella christmas. Don't think mine will be as impressive though. Our old house was a beautiful victorian house with big rooms and high ceilings but now we are in a cottage which is charming in its own way but lacks the Christmas grandeur. Xmas Sad

Ali - what's the issue with the section? I had problems getting my consultant to agree to a planned section with DS following my emergency c/s with DD. I had to argue quite hard but they did agree in the end.

Done my Good Deed for the day, checked if elderly neighbour-but-one wanted anything from the shops as me & DS2 went to get bread. She didn't but my halo is shining Grin

Also had a quick nose as i think, my new neighbour. Other half of the semi is moving out today/tomorrow and i think the new lady turned up whilst i was chatting to old dear.
Meant to be a couple with a 1 year old, am hoping we'll get on

Section agreed Xmas GrinXmas Grin That is such a weight off my mind. I am going to go and see the VBAC midwives just to talk it all through and finally rule it out, but the consultant has agreed that when I go and see her at 36 weeks, if I still want a section she will book one for 39 weeks. Yay - so so relieved.

So I rang my Mum to update her - she is a Dr a used to do obstetrics so good to get her view. Ended up having a massive blub about DS' birth so I feel a bit better now I've had a good cry. She is lovely to me, and behaves completely normally until Golden Boy comes into the equation.

Must get my act together this afternoon, the house is an absolute tip although clean underneath the untidiness. And I must cook a proper dinner, things have been a bit haphazard so far this week. Xmas Confused
