AttackedbyNinjaPeas · 28/09/2010 13:22

Anon for loft storage I prefer plastic boxes with lids. Only because I feel things are less likely to get spider infested in those!

Right need to go the three things route I think

First
Pick toys off sitting room floor
Hoover downstairs
Mop downstairs

Just had a really strong coffee before picking dd up from school and now feel really jittery

hi plum

thank you JKS

spacehoppa that is a great way of marking your 'dones' i think i will steal that idea too, far cheerier than bold black letters!!!

minimammoth · 28/09/2010 15:51

Bloody hell just spent ages doing a list post thingy and its just wiped. Bah! back with list later. But wanted to say.BEWARE OF MOTHS all those thinking of storage. Me obsessed and paranoid nah! the little buggers can sniff out any nice natural fabrics a mile away.

PlumBumMum · 28/09/2010 16:00

Oi Booyhoo I love my bold letters, I'm afraid I just couldn't bring myself to put a smiley face beside pay bills, and check bankGrin
Just caught your other thread before school run, hopefully this is just the thread you need, ((not promising miracles by the way but I'm noticing my house gradually starting to run alot smoother))

JKS Just right, Have you had a home birth before, I would love one if I ever went again but its not something that is commonplace over here.
I was determined to have a waterbirth with dd2 but had meconium in waters so it was a non starter,
but as for nuchual fold test its not even offered here, but I did have double test with dd1 and got a very high result which I knew I wasn't going to do anything more about so I did wonder why I got it done in first place!
I do think its better to face these things if and when it happens instead of spending your pg worrying/stressingSmile

Right
chicken is in
need to go out into garage and get some potatoes
Fingers crossed there are no rotters in there, dh was mean't to go through them but he hasn't had the time

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 28/09/2010 16:04

anon - get those vacuum bags. We have loads for extra bedding, pillows, duvets etc and they save a ton of space. Keeps all the dust out better than the under-bed ones too I find.

JKS - you're braver than me :) I would be too scared to try and homebirth post-section, in fact I would be too scared to homebirth full-stop I think. But I spent the first years of my life living in a hospital so I have a different relationship with them than most people I think!
Reminds me that I think I'm due another midwife app - must ring up.

booyhoo - I saw your post yesterday and thought 'she needs to come over to Slatterns' - and here you are! Grin

Plum - no no, I'm just being slack Wink

PlumBumMum · 28/09/2010 16:14

My fear of having a home birth with 2 (or in mycase 3) other dcs in the house is I would be expected to make/butter my own toast afterwardsGrin
Well not exactly but I know the dcs would be all over me (afterwards that is), but I do love the idea of climbing into my own bed and snuggling up with a new baby & dh instead of him having to go home etc

JustKeepSwimming · 28/09/2010 16:17

Well I had a HB with DS1, all went smoothly, then a planned HB with DS2 turned into an emcs as he was an undiagnosed breech.
Generally the docs say no to HBAC (hb after cs) but the MWs will support women if they are fully informed, yadda yadda.
It's each to their own really i do not like hosps generally, and i do not like my local one after being there with DS2 especially.
And my reasoning is, if my scar is going to rupture i will have at least 1, if not 2 dedicated MWs with me watching for any signs, whereas in hosp i could be left alone.

Plus, this baby is going to be a perfect baby, start labout once boys are in bed, MW arrive just in time, baby arrives asap, get to bed and have an almost normal night's sleep before the boys get up

anonymousbird · 28/09/2010 16:21

Thanks for tips on storage! I had wondered about the vaccuum ones actually, definitely could save a stack of room. And keep the dust/moths/mice out!

Getting some leads on a place to live (yey) but as with last week, everywhere I am interested in, so is half the world! Agghh. Never mind, something will come. Viewing two/three more this week.

Oh yes mean't say Vacumm bags

JKS Argos

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 28/09/2010 16:26

JKS - can understand you feeling that especially if things went well with DS1. I am going to be asking for an elective section I've decided, can't bear the thought of going through labour again (30 hours) and then having to have another section. I was so poorly afterwards, took me 2 months to be able to walk properly and really feel myself. I can't put DS through it, it would be a nightmare. Appointment with my consultant is on the 1st December, so we will see.

Cot bedding - I got DS' from Mothercare. It probably was expensive - maybe £35 for the duvet cover and pillowcase? That is only cot size though not cotbed.

JustKeepSwimming · 28/09/2010 16:33

Argos don't seem to have any cotbed size bedding. Started with Mcare, will end up there probably, just a bit shocked by the prices, thought they would be cheap (given the current duvet & cover by PIL).

I can totally understand your POV too, all that effort & exhaustion to end up with a c-s anyway. At least with an elective you can plan things, and you know what day baby will arrive Grin

anonymousbird · 28/09/2010 16:34

JKS is this any good??

I can't remember where we got ours now - flogged the whole lot as a bundle (on ebay!) last year.... It was in mint condition and someone got the lot for about £15 - two sets of covers, duvet itself and pillow.

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 28/09/2010 16:40

Precisely - and I do like a plan! Grin

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 28/09/2010 17:22

DS banged his head at school today so brought him home while DD napped and then we all went for a walk at bird reserve. He's fine.

Anon - I shove place non seasonal items in a plastic box under the bed. Those plastic cases will do just as well. Things we aren't using go in the woodshed/attic.

Spacehoppa - are you enjoying your blog? can we see it? I'm thinking of doing one but a) don't have much time and b) not sure people will want to read it.

DS to school - Y
Take DD for a Walk - Y
Washing on Y
Washing out Y
Lunch for DD Y
Dishy on Y
Empty dishy
Pick up DS from school Y
Put online shop away
Cook dinner - DOING
DS and DD to bed
Tidy up a bit

ImASlatternGetMeOutOfHere · 28/09/2010 17:36

Well I managed bugger all today. I think I did to much yesterday plus it is more difficult with kids under foot.

Managed to fill and put on the DW
3 loads of washing done and 1 in at the moment.

And that was it

Never mind, will try again tomorrow.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 28/09/2010 18:17

I'mASlattern -I can only get things done if DS is at school and DD is napping. Otherwise carnage abounds.

anonymousbird · 28/09/2010 19:37

  • into town done
  • shop a lot done
  • cook tea done
  • tidy up downstairs done
  • wash pots started

Phew! Got my whole outfit sorted for Saturday, what a relief!

JKS, as you've had a hb before I think it makes sense to give it another go.

If we have another I'm going to keep my options open while I read up around VBAC and then probably plump for an elective section. Grin
I'm not pregnant, but I like to plan ahead. Blush
