August's 1st Anniversary Fledgling Flyers: It's our party and we'll fly if we want to.

Welcome to the August edition of the Fledgling Flyers where we are going to attempt to restore order in our houses, chatting as we go.

This month is officially our first birthday so we are celebrating sink shining and swishing and swiping in style!

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

For those who are curious, these are the Babysteps which we all hope will restore order in our homes and make our lives a little bit easier with lots of support (and chat, and wine, and a little more chat )

So please come and join us for our birthday party, old and new, from August 1st.

Good afternoon everyone... just passing through to officially report back in and say mahoosive "hellos" to everyone. Hope you are all OK & that you've enjoyed your summer - such as it was.

Haven't had a chance to catch up with thread properly yet - except just wanted to say to Miss Bennett that I was very sorry to hear your recent news - sending you lots of courage and solidarity from over here - hope you are taking full advantage of opp to vent on this thread!x

Sorry if I have missed other events/news - only time for a quick post today. Will try and read through rest of thread tomorrow.

In the meantime, am still available to post steps for a month from 1 Sept unless anyone else wants to do it (let me know if so - don't want to impose myself!)

Any ideas for new title? So far have only come up with "30 baby-steps have September, Fledgling Flyers will remember" and that's frankly pretty uninspiring ...

Enthusiastically flaps newly laundered microfibre cloths at everyone and ...

... good luck to all of those whose dc are starting school for the first time this week.

See you later/tomorrow ....

MuckyDucky · 30/08/2010 16:12

"september fledlings flying without the 'special help' from the dc." is best I can do.

ds has been helping. I have now done 101 things not on my list and almost nothing that was Hmm

MrsDinky · 30/08/2010 19:31

September Flying - Fledglings are Trying.

SC - I'm happy to post steps as well, how about you do it this month, I'll step in if you are away or anything and I'll take over when you've had enough, in October or whenever.

School doesn't start here for another week and a bit, hoping for some more of this lovely weather, we've been out today, popped over the border into Sussex to a National Trust property and a PYO, so I have a kitchen full of soft fruit to deal with.

MissB - I read the American Wife a few months ago, I did enjoy it but felt a bit squeamish about the sex scenes, it being based on the life of George W Bush..... I have just been reading The Peacock Emporium by JoJo Moyes, which I enjoyed and am wondering what to start next.

I have also harvested, plaited and hung up my first crop of onions, so feeling all cosy and domestic. Also washed and dried 3 loads of clothes, which all need putting away, unpacking has remained where it is.

Nettiespagetti · 30/08/2010 23:37

I like 30 babysteps have September Grin

But here my offering

September Sparkling clean fledgling flyers are we; Holidays have been, the dcs we've seen (lots of), babysteps were lean Blush but back to business we MEAN Grin

MuckyDucky · 30/08/2010 23:39

Grin fabulous nettie!

must go to bed. night folks.

feetheart · 31/08/2010 07:57

I'm going to sneak on today in an attempt to kickmyself up the rear inspire myself before tomorrow.

Had a lovely family weekend outside doing allotment stuff (we have a bit of SiL's but haven't done as much as we wanted with it this year), HUGE craft fair on Sat and cycling in woods yesterday.
This summer DC have got to the stage where they are able to walk a reasonable distance and, as of yesterday, cycle quite well too. Plans are afoot for further expeditions Grin

Need a quick list to get me going today:

  • Morning routine (all of it for a change Hmm)
  • Ring friend and arrange for DD and her best friend to get together for first time in over 3 weeks - it feels like a lifetime when you are 7!
  • Ring dentist and plumber
  • Hoover living room, hall, stairs
  • Shops for plimsols and PE kit (DD's was nicked last term and have put off replacing it 'just in case' :()
  • Play Rangers in park
  • Make felafels for dinner
  • Do something with windfall apples
  • Early night as 5.30am waking now seems to be my default setting Hmm

Will try and catch up later but just to say welcome to Bob and Ihate I hope you really enjoyed your w/e after such a scary time.

Off to tackle hotspots before Dc wake up.

elliepac · 31/08/2010 08:18

MOrning ladies!

Am back from lovely weekend away although the delightful British summer time treated us to some quite vile weather including a gale which meant I woke up on Monday morning not sure whether we were still on the clifftop! The fact that the weekend is over however means that return to work is rapidly approaching and nose is going to have to go back to the grindstone Sad. Haven't had time to scroll through everything but a huge welcome to bob. And welcome back to sc who is going to return to her spiritual home as leader from tomorrow. Am going to step post and run but will be back later.

The babystep for today is feeling proud.

The mission for today is here.

Am also going to list post as have lots to do today:-

TIdy for visit from mother at half 9. Why oh why she invited herself round at such a silly time is beyond me. Grrrrr.
Washing/drying/putting away
Food shop
uniform/shoe shop
pay CM
Car Tax

Have a good day everyone!

Good morning ladies Grin

For today:
hoovering the living room is mission for today

"I am so proud of you" babystep today Whoa!!! We have got to the end of the month.

Get ready for shining that sink again tomorrow!!

See, I said SC would make a grand entrance sometime soon. Wink Are you happy to start up the new thread today, or did you want me to. I tell you what, as I dont know if you will read this or not, if you have not appeared by 6pm I will start it up for September. mahooooooooooooooosive wave by the way

Feetheart Howdy, great to hear from you again, not "seen" much of you recently, too busy enjoying yourself running around the forest buy the sounds of things. great you had a good weekend.

Nettie, I think you have come up trumps again and think your title for September is just fab!! If I start it I will use yours! Wink

MrsD Has the "Harvest farmer of the week" award!! You carry on feeling all good with yourself with your plaiteed onions and such like Envy.

MissB - You must be releived that DD2 has no more holes than she had before your shopping expedition. That is one that our DDs have toyed with, DD1 did have her tummy done once, but it was too painful for her, so she took it out. Wink A few "I told you so" 's later and never been mentioned since. So far we have stopped DD2 having one of those disgusting large hole thingies in her ear, but she is 18 in November, if we get past that next September she is going to be living in some rough parts of London for a year (Gap year project thing) and I can imagine she will succomb!!! (eugh!!!!) DD3 is adamant she will ahvbe her tongue peirced on her 18th!! - 2 years to go!
I hope DD1 has had a fantastic time away and not brought too much waashing and grime with her. Was it a guiding trip? Sounds awesome!!

Mucky - Your list was very impressive yesterday, but I noticed one done and one in progress, Grin.

So, who has sewn on all their name labels and got everything straight for school? Hands up???? No, well, not me!! Blush I only ever use a permanent marker for the names!!

PositiveAttitude · 31/08/2010 08:42

Morning Ellie, sorry didnt know you were back and took ages to type out my post, so x-posted. Blush

Pluto · 31/08/2010 08:43

Good Morning. You may remember me from last year. I'd to come back and join in the September thread as I think this will help with our back to school routines. It's time to get back on top of things again.

PositiveAttitude · 31/08/2010 08:47

Hi Pluto welcome back, great to see you again. Grin Stick around and a link will appear on the thread today for the Septmeber one.

Stillcounting · 31/08/2010 09:48

Right ho my Fledglings

Just re-familiarising myself with the thread after a long absence.

A warm welcome to Bob and Ihate!!

Mahoosive thank yous to Ellie for leading this thread so entertainingly for two months despite a mahoosively heavy end-of-term workload and for her fantabulous round-ups which I think I am going to have to blatantly plagiarise but can't possibly hope to do as well....! You've actually managed to make Flying fun Ellie - an amazing feat!

And equally mahoosive thanks yous to the endlessly capable PA for deputising so dynamically whilst stroking bunnies, baking, pig-sticking pigeons, constantly removing bike parts from the kitchen table and running a Waltonion-sized homestead....

MrsDinky THANK YOU for your offer - you are on! T'would be terrific if you could pls deputise this month (I think there's one weekend in September when I'm away)and if you are happy to take over in October that would be brilliant!

PA thanks for much-needed reminder about setting up new thread! Not stepping on my toes at all ... I'm still in head-in-clouds holiday mode ....

Thank you to everyone for new thread name suggestions. Off to ponder them all and amalgamate and will be back soon to set it up ....

Stillcounting · 31/08/2010 09:49

Oh sorry - forgot to say welcome back to Pluto - great to 'see' you!!

Stillcounting · 31/08/2010 10:32

Right then everyone, taking inspiration for the title from Nettie and Dinky please park your mops and buckets over in our shiny new September thread

here!

Hope title is OK .... in reality it was MY holiday baby-steps that were slow ... all of you seem to have been as busy as ever Blush

MuckyDucky · 31/08/2010 12:02
