SLATTERNS Yoohoo bring those lists here now!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 02/08/2010 13:29

Argh.
Tired. Achey. Still two walls to do (second coat).

Quick question: How does one paint skirting boards without getting paint on ones carpet? Pleeeease tell me it only involves masking tape or similar and not taking up carpet. I might cry otherwise. Or just not do them.

minimammoth · 02/08/2010 13:44

I am going to try reverse psychology:
Things not to do:
dining/kitchen floor
office of doom
conservatory - make it look nice rather than a epository for miscellaneous items
data base
VAT return
filing
gardening
washing
decorate
read book
read through BCYT stuff
cooking
look for moths
tidy up
clear knicker drawer
magazine rack

Give self a talking to
Do not do any of the above.

OP posts:
minimammoth · 02/08/2010 13:46

Freaki you can buy a metal thing that you just sheild the carpet with as you go. You could make one from a bit of stiff card or a bit of flat plastic. then hold at an angle against the carpet, angle away from skirting and paint.

PlumBumMum · 02/08/2010 16:25

Sorry last bit had no relavence to me meeting my mum & dad but I'm have enough to worry about without my mum doing a whole guilt trip on me, and things are alaways done so it makes me look bad, I think thats why I'm so annoyed

minimammoth · 02/08/2010 16:52

Plum I am so sorry to hear how things are with your m and d. Its fine for you to have a moan, it seems like stalemate. I would suggest write a letter as long and as abusive as you like - you are not going to post it- in it you can say all the things you never get to say. Keep going until you have dried up. Then burn it. It will help get the emotions flowing rather than you not expressing them.
Repeat as neccessary. work on the assumption that they are not going to change, and work on how you deal with it.
Gone into Agony Aunt mode again. Ignore if its not helpful.

Plum - our M&S is just rubbish, i went in there a few years ago to look for dresses, couldn't see any, asked, 'oh no we haven't got any dresses in stock' wtf?!

Today there was hardly anything in sizes 8 or 10, loads of 20+ (maybe a comment on my area?!)
There were hardly any choices of colour in t-shirts, and what trousers there were were mostly weird colours.
Lots of stuff for old dears though.

Ran out of paint with a small wall to do. Have glossed windowsills etc, just the last bit of wall and skirtings to do.

House is a pit!

Went to buy more paint and some food but we were all starving so ended up in mcd's for dinner. a police car went through the drive thru bit and dd looked out the window and said "uh oh mummy they might be here to arrest you for taking your children to old mcdonalds for dinner"

JKS, it's bad purchasing I think that, they just buy the same number of each size in, and then of course the 12-18s sell out first and you're just left with the smallest and biggest sizes. Infuriating.

Morning

Lovely night's sleep, DS slept 9-8.15 so I got to sleep 11.30-8.15. Best night I've had in ages. It's weird, he's been sleeping in summer pjs (shorts and t-shirt) but last night he asked for 'real jammies' ie. a babygro and slept much better. I wonder if he's been waking up cold? Must go and get some more today, the only one we have which fits is the Tigger one that Freak sent me
Felt a bit queasy this morning, have just scoffed loads of toast though so feel much better.

DONE
All up
Breakfast

TO DO
Clear up
Unload dishwasher
Get showered and dressed
DH into the office
Hang nappies out
Put another wash on if there is one
Tidy upstairs and make beds
Tidy downstairs
Dust and hoover downstairs

Put away travel cot from Sunday night
Decide what we're having for dinner
Lunch

Park with friends
Mothercare
Back here for a cuppa?

Me sit down
DH home
Dinner
Clearing up
DS bath and bed
Tidy living room
Relax
Sleep

minimammoth · 03/08/2010 09:40

anonymousbird. how are you bagging your onions?
I have just harvested a few and some shalotts and usually make a laughable attempt at making them into strings to store. got any other ideas?
