ALICE where are you????

JKS Have been on thyroxine for over 7 years, will ring doctors in the morning, can feel my back really sore ATM but this is day 44,plus with the extra weight I can't shift it all seems to be adding up

dh rang when he was 5mins away from home to see if I was putting dinner on, so frozen pizza it was!

I'm going to get dcs into jammies and lie and watch Monsters V Aliens with them, maybe have a doze feeling so tired

JustKeepSwimming · 01/08/2010 20:13

Freak - DIY jobs always seem to work out like that

Plum - def sound like Thryoid meds aren't working then.

Had a serious go at shower door earlier, but it still looks the same used green side of scourer-thing & lots of 'bathroom spray' but no change, grr.

Hiya everyone and fab newbies. Newbies -I am the slattern that doesn't have hormones any more ergo my lists are a bit haphazzard and have been a bit Moth related, but am going to stop that, before i develope a nervous tic.
Am back from HMHB's. All in one piece more or less. Am supposed to be trying to have some time off. So I think I am going to do a things to avoid list, for a change.

Its amazing though that as soon as you are home the Areas of Doom start calling.

SweetGrapes · 01/08/2010 22:07

Sorry, how did I miss that?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 01/08/2010 22:54

Evening everyone

We got all our jobs done plus 5 loads of washing and had a yummy roast with our friends, the yorkshire puds were about my best ever I think, all huge and puffy, soft and crisp all at once, yum yum. Think I will make more tomorrow to go with the leftover beef.
We are up v.early to see friends off, they are going to catch the ferry to go on holiday, and then a lazy day I think. DH has the day off again, he's using up holiday before he leaves work on Friday. Definitely park with DS, not sure what else apart from that.

Alice you are teasing us

Plum hope you're ok, step away from google though I can imagine it's throwing up all sorts of hideous things - when your thyroid is by far the most likely explanation

JKS - grr at your morning, that would make me cross too. My bugbear when DH gets up with DS is that he doesn't get him dressed or clear up anything in the kitchen from the night before or anything like that, they just play with toys and watch telly. Then all the jobs are still there when I get downstairs.

Hello HMHB and Mini

PlumBumMum · 02/08/2010 06:36

Morning all a touch of insominia in Plum household,
dh & ds are in livingroom, dh is not well which is not like him at all, ds has been up from at least 5.30 but he just goes about his own business, and I have had a cuppa & some crunchy nut so going to go back to bed.

JKS there is something about the type of showergel etc & type of water reacting that makes your shower screen all cloudy

Mini did you sneak us out some cake?

Ali I love yorkshire puddings, have never made my own must try that!

Right
I'm going back to bed
then
dds breakfast
everyone washed & dressed
unload clean dishes
load up dirty dishes
wipe down surfaces
sort out carpet
ring doctors

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/08/2010 07:00

Morning - insomnia here too. DS woke at 4am and DH and I haven't been back to sleep - not in a way either. Waved our friends off on their holiday at 6.15, was very nice to have the evening with them yesterday

Plum I hope you've managed to go back to sleep Homemade yorkshires are the best, my Mum (and her Mum) have always made brilliant ones. You need either lard or beef dripping, the oven at 200 for a fan (so I make them once the joint has come out and is resting so that I can turn the oven up). Batter is 2 large eggs to half a pint of milk and 4oz of flour - I don't weight the flour but use 4 heaped of my Grandma's old-fashioned metal cooking tablespoon. Can you tell it's a bit of a ritual! Let the fat get hot and then pour in the batter and cook them for 17 mins.

Hope PlumBumDad feels better soon

DH has gone to get MacDonald's breakfast

wastingaway · 02/08/2010 08:42

Morning all, My poor house is in ruins because of the bank holiday weekend . We have been so busy as there was a festival on in town and we have been looking at different things and yesterday the scouts did a display.

Last night myself and DH went out for drinks leaving DS to babysit so of course they helped themselves to stuff and left everything out and paper all over the place

TO DO
Dining Area
Kitchen
Sitting Room
Hall
Downstairs loo

anonymousbird · 02/08/2010 10:05

I am not dressed either. Had to proof read something for DH which took a while (after a torrid night with DS and his itchy skin - aaaggghhh. He didn't get up until 9.10....).

Today, have done nothing so far other than proofreading so here it goes:

  • Get me showered and me and DC's dressed
  • Chickens food and water to be checked/filled
  • Water greenhouse and vegetables
  • Clean loos and bathrooms (again)
  • Hoover and mop the tiled floors
  • Walk the Dog
  • Tidy garden and gravel
  • Laundry - one load
  • Ironing of last week's laundry
  • Make meringue for kids' tea with friends
  • Bag up my onions
  • Check details for UK holiday - Tesco delivery to be finalised, Broadband connection(?), dinner bookings, audio books for car....
  • Packing to leave first thing Friday
  • Ensure house is in good state for my housesitters (ongoing!)
  • Tidy up vegetables before going away
  • Renew various insurance policies -car, boats.
  • Book car hire, pay balance on holiday, order travel insurance for week in the sun in September.
wastingaway · 02/08/2010 10:51

I have done nothing further, I felt so ill I just conked out on the sofa, but I'm feeling a little better. Morrisons will have to wait til after the library.

A little now and next I think -

  • rescue the frontroom from DS
  • change and dress him
  • kitchen - 15 mins
wastingaway · 02/08/2010 11:16
  • rescue the frontroom from DS done wasn't that bad
  • change and dress him done
  • kitchen - 15 mins some

Sink is clean and pots are soaking.

Next -

  • backroom tidy incl. folding dry washing
  • hang washing that's finished
  • what's for lunch?
Alicetheinvisible · 02/08/2010 12:05

Wasting obviously do what works for you, but last year before getting the dishwasher i really found getting the washing up done before i went to bed made such a difference to how i felt in the morning. Going into a clear kitchen just made me feel happier. Was a real fight with myself to do it though.

I have had a good sort through a load of books so going to give some to my friend (she is coming over tomorrow to have a rummage) then the rest off to the charity shop. We have four bookcases in our house, and now there is room in all of them

Still not dressed though

DONE
Get up
Make beds
Breakfast
Tidy bathroom and clean (actually scrubbed the shower before breakfast!)
Clear up breakfast stuff
Dishy on
Water mint plant (looking poorly)
Hang washing out
Put more washing on
Tidy hall
Plumber here 9ish (10am)
Bag up charity shop stuff
Get bread out of freezer for lunch
Phone friend to organise seeing her

TO DO
Get dressed
DD dressed
Pack up DVD's to send
Hoover DD's room
Hoover landing and bathroom
Hoover/sweep stairs
Lunch
Nap

wastingaway · 02/08/2010 12:10

Alice, that's my big struggle really. I've been getting better with the pots recently, but didn't do them last night and it definitely made this morning worse.

I'm going to make it my priority.

  • backroom tidy incl. folding dry washing done
  • hang washing that's finished done
  • what's for lunch? pasta cooking

What is this space in bookshelves of which you speak?

NExt -

  • round up stuff for library
  • lunch
  • quickest shower in the world and get ready to go
