Anyone else love front doors?

Does anyone else have a thing for front doors? I just love looking at front doors, sounds random but I love architecture and interior design, my favourite would be a Victorian timber door, especially in pretty colours. I’d love to have a Victorian house worthy of a beautiful stained glass front door but alas we live in a 1970s build and it wouldn’t look quite right. I follow Gelata doors on instagram and they post some beautiful doors like this one 😍 Just wondered if anyone else is like this or just me?

Me!!! There's a few doors I love so much near me that I make a point of walking by them just to see them. I wonder if people notice me staring! Ha!

professionalcommentreader · 11/06/2026 12:07

Ha yes me! My daughter thinks I’m mad, I love a double wooden opening door, lots of properties in Scotland have them.

KimWexlerGoodman · 11/06/2026 12:08

Ha ha, yes! I probably stare at front doors like some people look at flowers!

I'm on a FB page about front doors.

Just noticed your username OP. Seems we share a love for doors and bcs!

Found a picture on my phone of me aged 4 standing outside a beautiful door in Majorca whilst on holiday. I would post it as I'm sure folks here would appreciate how lovely it is but much too outing! I remember asking my dad to take the photo as I wanted a keepsake of the door. Anyway point being I've always loved a good door for as long as I can remember!

I liked with my house as soon as I saw the front door. It's an original 1930s front door with 3 vertical panels and a stained glass sun ray pattern window at the top. It's the only reason I've not enclosed the outer porch.
If I did create an outer porch I would get a door like this to fill the arch. I like the way the door works with the arch and the glazed sections are circular

I love a sun ray stained glass pattern and your door is beautiful. I agree the only way you could enclose that porch would be to match it. It makes my heart sad to see those arched porches blocked by uPVC doors.

If I were to have a timber front door on our 70s house, I’d probably go for a 1930s one like this

That one is beautiful. I've got a 1930s house and I desperately want to replace the horrid white PVC with one like that! Just waiting to find a spare 2k+ lying around..

PatsFishTank · 11/06/2026 12:40

I love a good front door too. It makes such a difference to a house.

I love front doors too, mostly the ones with stained glass. We have a nasty UPVC glass door fitted in our arched front and I hate it, but soooooo expensive to get anything decent. I love the glass & cast iron doors that are much more common in the US, I am constantly pointing them out to DH when we watch tv.
This is a toned down version.

Have any of my fellow door lovers found a decent composite alternative? DH def wants composite when we change our awful uPVC door but they don’t match up in my eyes.

I’ve found my people I love front doors, mine is a Victorian with stained glass it’s currently Lilac, has been hot pink, teal, sage green & burgundy I do love original thirties doors with the side matching panes oh & double doors are a particular favourite do enjoy wandering around admiring doors.

MrsMoastyToasty · 11/06/2026 17:22

When the weather has been really hot I've fancied getting a screen door like the ones you see on American and Australian houses.

StellaOlivetti · 11/06/2026 17:25

Fun door facts: I am sure I read somewhere that a blue front door adds 4k to the value of your house! And also, there is a museum dedicated entirely to doors in Pezenas in SW France.

I love looking at doors when I’m out and about. I definitely have a favourite front door in my road, number 16. I always admire it when I walk past.
