A nice thread about artist Yvonne Coomber

So you are sitting in your house on a boring Sunday afternoon and the phone rings and woo hoo it's artist Yvonne Coomber herself! Not an admin assistant but the lovely artist herself.

I bought something off her website earlier today and the first purchase timed out as I didn't approve it quick enough on my bank app and so I had to do it a second time. Yvonne called me to check I knew the first one hadn't gone through and we had a nice wee chat (she didn't realise it had already gone through on the 2nd transaction)

Anyone met her or bought one of her pictures. I live in Scotland and so not very easy for me to go to any of her exhibitions although i would love to

I just bought 'feeling groovy' canvas off her website. I already have 2 signed prints. Yvonne is now looking through her original oils to send me some in my taste.

What a nice lady to phone up a customer and chat away.

I was quite shocked and probably babbled like an idiot.

Anyway I love one of her older pieces now not available called Wild Champagne love so Yvonne is going to see if she has anything similar available to buy.

I mean the lady sells thousands of pieces of art and no doubt has a team of people helping her with her art shows, art gallery etc and so you just don't expect the actual artist to phone you up herself.

By the way for those of you who like to browse her pieces for sale - she says she does not really put the smaller oil originals on her website as they sell really fast. So if you want one you have to contact her and ask to see what she has for sale.

Anyway just wanted to share my afternoon with someone and the dog wasn't that impressed!

Been eyeing it up for a while (just so cheerful and joyful) but the 15% off this month finally persuaded me to part with the money.

Would love to see anyone else who has prints or canvas or if you are lucky enough to have an original. Yvonne does lots of small budget friendly originals now.

Are there any other artists who you think I might like if I love Yvonne's work?

I'm tired of looking at my boring cream walls and the grey, cloudy day outside.

Feeling Groovy

Feeling Groovy - Yvonne Coomber

This piece is inspired by beautiful days spent by the ocean and is woven with love.  Full of soft blues and rainbows of Wildflowers.

Ooooh, I love this artist! I'm not sure if you're real or trying to promote her, but she is one of my absolute faves!

strawberrybarn · 13/01/2025 03:14

This is probably my fave, although I do prefer a rectangular painting (to go above the sofa!):-

Hi strawberry, sorry my post really did sound like I was trying to promote her didn't it. I don't work for her in any capacity - I'm just a huge fan of her work and after her phoning me I got a bit carried away writing my post.

I also just wanted to pass on the things I had found out like the discount this month or the fact you have to contact her to see what budget friendly originals she has for sale.

I first discovered her on walking past an art shop in Edinburgh around 2016/17 and though oh that's nice (her work in the window) and doubled back for another look. It was one for her signed prints in a frame. In I went to the shop and bought my first piece of artwork (sort of). I mean I know it was just a print and at but still
I'd never heard of Yvonne Coomber at that point.

Only in more recent years have I realised what a big success she is and that she has her own website etc.

I've been passing many an hour browsing pics for sale or past sales. If I had an endless supply of money I think I would have one in every room. As it is I have been waiting very excitely to receive my feeling groovy canvas.

Anyway thanks for replying. I clearly have a very dull life but got quite overwhelmed when Yvonne just called me up for a wee chat!! Made my weekend.

Her paintings are beautiful. I'm quite envious of you talking to her and having some "real" are in your house.
I have one of this ladies pictures. (Will take me a minute to post her link as I can't remember her name 🤣)

Ah that's lovely (with a lovely price tag too gulp!)

I think it is her use of colours that make her pieces so fab. I watched a video on her and she says she mixes all her own colours.

Anyway if you are interested I will post a pic of my canvas when I get it. Not sure how long it takes to arrive. Perhaps Yvonne has to do the hand embellishes after you order it. I'm debating whether to order a 2nd canvas while she has the discount on but really wanted to see the first one to check what it's like (I've never seen one of her canvases in real life)

I would love to buy one of the original oils and so I am hoping she sends me over what she has soon so I can look at them.

Do you have any of her prints/canvases/originals? If so which ones. Feel free to post photo's if you want to share.

I wish I lived closer to her gallery so I could go. I live in Scotland so a bit of a trek. Have you been to her gallery?

Hi deli, thanks for posting. I think I babbled like a monkey when she called up - I was just so shocked! I mean she must have loads of admin people working for her so you don't expect to hear from the great lady herself. Especially on a Sunday late afternoon/evening. (she is clearly dedicated to her work)

Prior to that I think my biggest 'claim to fame' was meeting Rick Astley at a local nightclub. I was a teenybopper and he was brand new and unheard of.

I think talking to Yvonne Coomber has to be an upgrade to that. What do you think.

I haven't got my canvas yet so at the moment I just have a signed print of hers in my house. I'm waiting on the canvas feeling groovy plus another signed print I ordered to arrive. Not sure how long it takes.

I know I feel like a proper 'grown up' now ha ha. (bout time in my fifties)

Yes would love to see any artists that you love or have work of?

At the risk of sounding like I work for her if you love her stuff she has a 15% discount this month on her work - just put in happynewyear at the coupon box.

I absolutely love Yvonne, I’ve got a couple of her pieces and have met her twice in the process. She is an absolute delight and just the most lovely person, and so talented! I could bankrupt myself on her work very easily!

Hi Yvonne! 👋 Never heard of you btw.

I wish I could paint like Yvonne Coomber. No I'm afraid I'm just an ordinary boring mumsnet user who had a wee bit of excitement at the weekend and wanted to share.

I guess if you are not interest in art then you wouldn't have heard of her. I mean I hadn't either prior to seeing something in an art shop window.

If you like floral art she is worth a look. If you don't fair enough.

I think she is pretty well established now in the art world. I doubt she would need to try and promote herself on mumsnet.
I agree my post does sound a bit star struck but I promise you I don't work for her and I certainly am not her (I wish!)

Anyway happy Wednesday.

I love her pictures. I kept seeing them as I think a fb friend is a friend of hers and so would always share posts.

I managed to see some pictures in the flesh when we were on holiday in Devon.

I have resisted buying so far as not sure I have a good spot to put one.

Thewholeplaceglitters · 15/01/2025 18:22

We have an original Yvonne Coomber. We bought it on a complete whim passing an art gallery one Saturday afternoon sometime pre 2010. It was a lot cheaper than they are now! But still felt like a hugely extravagant amount to spend. I love it because of remembering exactly how it felt when we saw it and decided to treat ourselves.

4pawdrive · 15/01/2025 18:35

I know! She was just so down to earth and normal. A very calm, serene person was my impression from our call. How great to be so talented and then just so grounded too.

I'd love to see your prints/canvases/originals if you want to post pictures. I'm going to post a picture of my canvas when I get it.

Me too! I seriously think I could spend a huge amount of money on her stuff quite easily. I would utterly love to have one of her originals. If you have one I shall be officially jeleous.

In the meantime this is the only signed print I have from Yvonne. Sorry it's a bad pic as my hall light is shining on it.

I'd love to go to her gallery (or another that shows her work). They all seem to be down south though and am I way up in Scotland.

Lucky you though seeing them in the flesh so to speak.

Ha ha, any spot is a good spot for a Yvonne painting.

Sounding like a broken record now but she has 15% off this month if you enter happy new year at checkout. That makes the prints a bit cheaper.

I've ordered this one (not got it yet) but it didn't work out too expensive with the discount.

Oh you win!!!

How amazing. Please post a picture of it. I'd love to see it (i'm sure the others on here would too)

It does feel like an indulgence spending money on her work but it is so beautiful and it makes you feel warm and happy to look at it. I guess over your life time you get a huge amount of value from that really.

Yes I can imagine the prices would be cheaper back then. I'm not sure when she really started to get famous. Do you?

Please, please, please post a picture of it so I can be jealous.!

Jeez so is it an Yvonne Coomber or are you not sure. Please post a picture of it. Maybe you are sitting on a valuable piece of art and you don't realise.

Even if it is not Yvonne's work I'd love to see who else is painting similar work.

Yes please post a pic when you get it. We can called it the artist tax, like the cat tax or dog tax here on mumsnet.

Looking forward to seeing your Yvonne Coombers when you get a minute then.
Thanks!

@4pawdrive the first link you shared. It's by a neighbour who is an artist, just very very similar!
