If your sitting room isn’t white or beige, what colour have you chosen?

Looking for inspiration. Have saved lots of ideas on pinterest but would like to see real home too if you are brave enough to share a pic (even of just one corner)? Planning how to decorate a traditional victorian sitting room with fireplace and alcoves. I tend to like soft blues with a hint of sage but still figuring it all out. Don’t want anything too neutral or dark.

Muted tangerine orange and sage green - can never describe it in a way that makes it sound lovely but it is. Log burner, full wall of books, grey carpets and curtains and different pictures and shelves for display bits. Cosy blankets across the couches and natural wood for side tables and the mantle. North and east facing windows so morning sun only.

It's one of my favourite rooms as it's warm and cosy.

Always go for colours that make you happy never based on what anyone else thinks.

Not something I would have thought I would have chosen but due to a dark olive green wall painter recommend the other three walls an off white which is almost a v light mint green / looks white but mint green against the olive wall

Farrow and Ball Green smoke!

Georgian house so again similar style - main sitting room which is dual aspect so quite light is F&B Parma Grey which is actually blue on the wall and quite cosy with dark red rugs and navy upholstery. Downstairs sittingroom/snug is very dark so I went with railings which is a very dark navy and works well.

Assuming you have plenty of light then the most beautiful F&B colour is Dix Blue which is a warm green blue and changes shade as the light changes. I have it all the way up the hall stairs and landings and it is gorgeous.

Zoffany double la seine - it's a very warm french blue grey. Had it painted for 5 years and still love it.

In the process of redecorating and it's Valspar Sprig of sage (dark sage green) and Fairy's tutu (pale blueish pink).

F&B green blue. Love it.

A deep red and a mocha colour. I love it. It's a big room so can take it, plus faces East so would look cold with cold colours.

Pale blue

Orange, sounds awful doesn't it?! But it's really lovely and warm!

3 walls are a neutral off white/cream colour and despite it apparently being uncool we have a feature wall in a colour called pomegranate seeds from B&Q. Its a dark red and really striking. I like bold colours and plan to do my bedroom orange.

Valspar skyscraper with white woodwork including plantation shutters. Very calming.

Mine is actually beige, but it doesn't look beige, it looks like a very pale beigey sage green and I have lots of natural wood and earthy Browny rust red accents. I get a little dopamine rush everytime I come in here.

These are the curtains and cushions in my living room. 2 walls are dark blue, 2 cream.

Pale grey with a dark navy feature wall. I don't particularly want grey but it's a rented house and it's a fairly neutral colour

patchworkbear · 23/09/2024 00:05

F&B French Grey.

CatStoleMyChocolate · 23/09/2024 00:06

Ours is Pink Ground with a blue sofa and armchair. Works really well! I wanted to use Setting Plaster but it was too dark.
