If your sitting room isn’t white or beige, what colour have you chosen?

Looking for inspiration. Have saved lots of ideas on pinterest but would like to see real home too if you are brave enough to share a pic (even of just one corner)? Planning how to decorate a traditional victorian sitting room with fireplace and alcoves. I tend to like soft blues with a hint of sage but still figuring it all out. Don’t want anything too neutral or dark.

Mine is wallpapered all over in a gold design. Edwardian sitting room and lounge. Curtains are a goldy yellow.

The smaller living room is a peacock/teal blue and the large living room is a warm lavender

Willow tree by Dulux - a nice light apple green colour

CocoapuffPuff · 22/09/2024 08:38

Victorian proportions with not much natural light, and the walls are a very soft, gentle golden yellow. Like watered down sunflowers. Not too dark in daytime and all glowy after dark when lamps are on.

UtterlyOtterly · 22/09/2024 08:39

A very warm but soft yellow. I love it.

GrouchyKiwi · 22/09/2024 08:39

Navy blue. We have windows on the south and west walls so it's a very light room.

meganna · 22/09/2024 08:41

Denim drift by Dulux. It's a big room with a large bay at one end and double patio doors at the other so gets lots of natural light. I was worried the darker paint would look too dark but it really doesn't!

tabulahrasa · 22/09/2024 08:51

It’s sort of beige, but also not 🤣 We already owned the furniture and curtains - with free choice I’d have gone bolder on the wallpaper colour but I had to convince my DP even on what’s there.

photo was obviously of the dog, but I figured you can see a fair bit of the room

F&B Green Smoke

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 22/09/2024 09:03

Valspar tribal headdress which is a dark teal. Above the picture rail is white and the shutters and built in shelves either side of the fireplace are white.

The room is very dark as North facing and on the street hence the shutters but it feels cosy.

Curtains are also teal but shot through with gold. Pictures hung with brass chain, original slate surround for the fire and slate hearth.

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 22/09/2024 09:08

F&B think was called either Green Blue. I love it.

Sethera · 22/09/2024 09:10

Pale blue

We’re in a Georgian property so similar proportions. We have one that’s Hague Blue with white woodwork, and another that’s Yellow Ground which is a lovely warm and rich yellow that’s still clear and non-murky.

I find that older properties can take stronger colours quite easily and when we looked at testers the softer colours were a bit lost.

Devilsmommy · 22/09/2024 09:16

Soft teal in mine. Perfect if you like pale blues and greens

Sage green walls, gold mirrors etc and gold and cream cushions. Cream venetian blinds, plants and sunflowers in a vase. It's like walking into a big warm hug especially when the sun is shining

A colour called Mellow Mocha which is actually a muted pink. If I change it at some point it’ll be sage green.

I love Mellow Mocha. I have it in my hallway and had it in a kitchen in an old house. It looks really fresh with brilliant white woodwork.

3kidsaremorethanenough · 22/09/2024 09:41

Apple white, which isn't actually white it's like a very pale green
