If your sitting room isn’t white or beige, what colour have you chosen?

Looking for inspiration. Have saved lots of ideas on pinterest but would like to see real home too if you are brave enough to share a pic (even of just one corner)? Planning how to decorate a traditional victorian sitting room with fireplace and alcoves. I tend to like soft blues with a hint of sage but still figuring it all out. Don’t want anything too neutral or dark.

Another for denim drift. Also worried it would be too dark as our sitting room isn’t huge but it’s gorgeous and so cosy. We love it!

Mine is painted Cloud Burst, it’s a Crown colour, it looks kind of grey in this sample but it’s actually quite pale purple ish.

A colour called Mellow Mocha which is actually a muted pink. If I change it at some point it’ll be sage green.

I've had mellow mocha in my living room for almost 20 years! Every time we redecorate I repaint it the same colour as I love it so much! We've had it with on its own, different shades of it mixed and with 2 different wallpapers! And I'll probably use it again next time too!

A very pale grey called qhiaper (was from wilko) and then the chimney is an Airforce blue colour.

I didn't want qhite or beige but as it is a terrace I didn't want to lose the light airy feeling.

I know grey is taboo these days, but I love it, it is very very light and a true grey so no purple/green tinges to it

Which brand does the Mellow Mocha colour? It sounds exactly like what I want for our hallway.

We have the dreaded very pale grey. Victorian house. From the dado rail up is white. The window sills are all white. The fireplace which is original is white marble. red turkish rugs on the floor and pale blue and gold curtains. Gilt mirrors and gilt framed oil paintings. It's pretty traditional.

Mellow Mocha is a Dulux paint

A smoky amethyst colour. I love it and it gets loads of compliments.

We have F&B calomine in our main living room which is a very delicate pink in the daytime and a warm neutral at night with lamps on.

Family room is F&B off white, which is a green tinged neutral, with green smoke woodwork and a nook wallpapered in this paper:

Oval Room Blue - I thought it was too dark at first but it isn't at all- it changes with the light as to how much blue or green you see in it. It has a warmth to it and we just love it. It looks great at night or in the morning. It is in the back sitting room which has the fireplace and no windows at one and and then a separate end that has 3 glass walls and overlooks the garden. It looks beautiful in both bits.

We've recently repainted and gone from a vanilla white to a gorgeous sage green which has really warmed up the room. Love it so much.

Another in Inchyra Blue, Farrow & Ball.

HazelLion · 22/09/2024 10:10

Dulux Tranquil Dawn, a light cool sage green

White ceiling, coving and skirting boards, walls are F&B Borrowed Light (or the dulux coulour match version) which is a pale blue. The sitting room is long with north facing windows at one end, so quite dark and we needed to lighten it up.

crumpet · 22/09/2024 10:20

Card room green. It’s a lovely colour.

bergamotvetiverthyme · 22/09/2024 10:21

Mine is jewel toned. Dark purple walls, deep red leather chesterfields, navy and green on the curtains, gold accents

betsyfloormop · 22/09/2024 16:05

Theatre Room red

Hague blue and French grey both F&B colours.

Magpiecomplex · 22/09/2024 16:56

Dulux Willow Tree between the picture rail and the dado rail, a darker green below the dado rail, and white above the picture rail and on the ceiling. 1850s house and the fireplace has green patterned tiles on it, so the green was a no-brainer.

CanYouHearThatNoise · 22/09/2024 16:57

Pale blue. Wallpaper on the feature wall is floral, with silver and blue flowers, brown stems

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 22/09/2024 17:00

Dulux Heritage Sage Green and Farrow and Ball Peignoir. On different walls, obviously, not like stripes or anything.

The Peignoir is less pink and more grey in my house, so it looks lovely with the Sage Green (which I only used because I had half a tin left over from doing my bedroom, which is, basically, the story of my interior design journey).

Blueballinthegarden · 22/09/2024 17:08

Sage green on one wall which is also covered in natural wood shelves and tonnes of books which I think always makes a room feel cosy. Forest green sofa with lots of natural linen colour soft furnishings. I love it!

Autumnismyfavouritetimeofyear · 22/09/2024 17:26

A colour called Pine Needles by Dulux - a lovely deep green with blue undertones. Its lovely, have reddish wood trim as well and it looks very cosy.

Els1e · 22/09/2024 17:30

Soft green. Very calm room
