We trying to sort our master bathroom, it's 3x4m. This will be a full renovation (back to bricks). We don't want to go for makeover option, we want to do it properly so it would last 15-20 years. Wondering what prices you have paid recently (full cost)? Manchester/UK area? How long it took to renovate? We not looking at budget nor bispoke - something in a middle, but with decent finish

£12.5k
Back to brick & moved soil pipe for new toilet positioning.
We purchased our own sanitary ware, tiles & flooring.
Builder supplied coving, ceiling lights, skirting boards & plaster.
Full job took 17 working days.

13K - inc moving stuff around and sorting the electrics and heating and replacing floorboards and fancy tiles

what was price? 7 days, seems like shortcuts been taken :) If you will google - proper bathroom job takes around 14-20 working days if is done properly. Assuming working: 8.00-17.00

Absolute nonsense! Ours was back to bricks complete in 4 days

This is a very odd thread, but -- what's tanking, and when does a bathroom need it?

DeedlessIndeed · 13/02/2024 07:21

Had a bathroom done in 2021 and it was 11.5K

This one is 9K just for labour and then another 9ish on top for parts :(

Both had to go right back to brick (not just a replaster job) on an old victorian house.

DeedlessIndeed · 13/02/2024 07:22

I should say that it took nearly 2 weeks to get the last one sorted.
Expected this one will take roughly the same.

User373433 · 13/02/2024 07:31

Why are you asking when you know better than everyone else?

HappyHedgehog247 · 13/02/2024 07:35

10-11k excl fixtures and fittings but this was to create a brand new bathroom 2 floors up from current water supply so a lot of pipework, saniflo, install bath, separate shower, loo, sink, towel rail, insulate, plaster, tile.

Ilovemyshed · 13/02/2024 07:37

Doing our ensuite at the moment:

Shower unit £900 high end digital
Shower screens £600
Shower tray £300
Units £2000
Bath £400
Loo £100
Sink and tap £250
Tiles for shower £250
Flooring £250
Boarding and plastering £600 inc labour
Wedi board £100
Shower niche £100
Lights and wiring £250 (part of first and second fix bigger job)

So £5800 on bits before labour.
My OH will do the install.
We are renovating an old house and this is a new loft conversion done to shell by builders, so room and walls built from scratch.

Just over 10k 2 years ago. We did have a Burlington bath , sink, toilet etc and the brassware wasn't the cheapest but not too expensive eg overhead and hand held shower fixtures were around £500 , we chose brushed matte brash , chrome would've been cheaper. That included removing old tiles, plastering, tiling etc
Edited to add we didn't move soil stack etc and it took just over two weeks

m00rfarm · 13/02/2024 07:42

7.5k. Complete bathroom. All new - nothing reused. Not even the light fitting. Plumbing changed and electrics. Toilet position moved. Bath changed to shower and position moved. Took three weeks.

Duolingo · 13/02/2024 07:49

This is a useful thread thanks everyone.

I'd be interested in what the OP would quote me for a full refurb on a 4x3m half/three quarters tiled bathroom new everything, sort out dodgy plumbing under bath, fitted storage unit and nice floor - I don't care how long it takes as long as it is moving forward, I would just be grateful to have such an expert working for me. SE, would get good biscuits in. Thanks

m00rfarm · 13/02/2024 07:51

Finished product (looks dark as for some reason the overhead light was not on!)

Royalsingingseal · 13/02/2024 07:53

Op posts feel very mansplaining 🙄. Surely one fitter takes 14 days, a team of two 7 days and a team of three in and out in 4. I’ve watched DIY SOS don’t you know 😂😂

catherinewales · 13/02/2024 07:53

We paid £4.5k but we never went back to brick and we got panelling. We used A&V modern bathrooms. They were amazing. They are a huge company and I'm sure they'll cover your area. We also paid £6.5k for an empty room to be made into a bathroom. Took them about 3 weeks to do them both.

thaegumathteth · 13/02/2024 07:54

Mine cost £100,000 and took 23 weeks. Hth.

TheProvincialLady · 13/02/2024 08:25

We took ours back to air and everything was tanked. And I mean Everything. Took a hundred years and I had to sell my soul to B&Q.

ShakesP123 · 13/02/2024 09:54

About 11k midlands. That was for moving plumbing, reboarding, new bath, stand-alone shower, toilet and vanity sink. Taps etc. Vanity was around £1.5k of the budget. Also included tiler and tiles (herringbone) on walls and floors. We went cheap on the taps and shower as it’s the main bathroom and we only really use en-suites and have regretted as there is some tarnishing already with very occasional use.

boyohboys · 13/02/2024 13:56

Hilarious thread - op this isn't AIBU you don't need to argue the toss with everyone who has taken the time to give the information you required. And no your responses aren't being factual or honest they are rude!!!

I had this explained to me just last week! It's where you have brick walls, so they put a 'special paint' on which makes it more waterproof. If you have stud walls, they use some sort of waterproofing plaster board.
(This is what the wickes man said, happy to be corrected by anyone else but it made sense to me)

They'll be right cowboys for that little and a total rush job.

Pay more next time you cheapskate

TheTimeIsNowMaybeNow · 15/02/2024 17:46

That you think they'll be working 8-5 and it will take up to 20 days makes me laugh .

Doyouthinktheyknow · 15/02/2024 17:52

16k!

Stripped back totally, removal of everything, pipe work moved, bath to shower.

According to our plumber it was the worst bathroom he’d ever done🤣
It was the original tiles, probably from the 50’s so it was beyond awful and so long overdue.

Cost an arm and a leg but it’s amazing now. Took 4 long weeks!
