Can somebody advise how much recently you paid for your full bathroom renovation?

We trying to sort our master bathroom, it's 3x4m. This will be a full renovation (back to bricks). We don't want to go for makeover option, we want to do it properly so it would last 15-20 years. Wondering what prices you have paid recently (full cost)? Manchester/UK area? How long it took to renovate? We not looking at budget nor bispoke - something in a middle, but with decent finish

Was going to give details of the quote and work we have booked to take place in a couple of months but it will apparently be too cheap and too short a timeline to be of interest to you OP.

I would imagine if your tone and approach is the same in real life as it is on here OP that your quotes will be extortionate because any tradesperson dealing with you will sense that working with you will be hell and will price themselves out of the job.

PSEnny · 12/02/2024 18:01

If you want future proof and it done properly you’re looking at around 15K for high quality finish.

totaly agree

Wow. OP I hope your bathroom fitters are cowboys who take off with your deposit money.

Caspianberg · 12/02/2024 18:09

@PSEnny - what do you mean? I think ours is pretty future proofed at €5.5k.
No need to spend £15k. It’s all high end brands, fixtures, fittings. It was 2020, so probably €7000+ now tbf, but not double. I did a whole kitchen for €20k in 2022, so €15k on a tiny bathroom is mad. (Kitchen is oak/ ceramic worktop/ all Bosch-lg-Miele, Villeroy boch taps, so not budget either)

TheSlantedOwl · 12/02/2024 18:13

@LittleRebelGirl Your bathroom looks amazing and you obviously had it done properly. The OP is being bizarrely combative to the point of sounding deranged!

I am polite person, but I do like facts and valid arguments (I don't like talking non-sense). If somebody calling me rude, idiot, twatt and I am not using same vocabulary back - according to you - my tone is rude :) okay then :) Person posted photos stating she had full bathroom renovation, then she posted photos - I clearly see is not full renovation, hence saying - is non sense. Fitters did shocking job - they not even bother to cover floor holes nor replaster in green plasterboards around bath tube + apply tanking kit. So am I bad person if I am telling truth? Shall I pretend that I am idiot? and just be one of the sheeps?

I've just had a quote to replace bath, bath panel, shower screen, shower, shower pump, heated towel rail/radiator, taps. Plus remove the tiles and replace with shower wall panels.

I'll keep the loo, wash basin and original elm floorboards. The pipework will remain basically the same.

£5,300 north Hampshire. The plumber is quoting 5 days.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 12/02/2024 18:24

This has been useful for me, don't know about OP, think I might have been overquoted for my bath removal.

Caspianberg · 12/02/2024 18:28

Ours 100% was a full renovation. They took down every wall upstairs and rebuilt all the bathroom walls from ground up.

gingercat02 · 12/02/2024 18:31

Just over 11K. Full refit, whole wall tiling, flooring, and false ceiling. Separate shower and bath, wall hung loo abd basin. Just over 10 days all in.

Surely the final amount is entirely led by:
a) the price band chosen for tiles and porcelain items
b) the location and reputation of the labour

….meaning you can get a great bathroom for lots of different prices?

ConstitutionHill · 12/02/2024 18:35

Once you start calling people who have bothered to post "sheeps" then yes, you are being rude.

BenjaminBunnyRabbit · 12/02/2024 18:40

Op, you are abrasive and your written English isn't great so I'm assuming that you are not English?

dontcallmelen · 12/02/2024 18:45

Back to brick, all new plumbing as we totally rearranged the layout.
electrics/fan/radiator was also tanked as we have a walk in shower with no tray took nearly three weeks bathroom fitter got us a really good deal on the tiles my cousin is a manager of bathroom shop so shower/glass/cabinets/WC/taps/mirror/under floor heating kit all came with a excellent discount the bathroom fitter was a friend of his paid 12.5k in total which although a lot of money, we have a beautiful bathroom with great quality fixtures & fittings I realise though am lucky as we had quite hefty discounts.
this was done February 2023.

Lillipops · 12/02/2024 18:48

6.5k in 2022, stripped back to brick, moved plumbing for sink to a different wall. Porcelanosa tiles on and walls and floor. Extractor fan, new ceiling with spotlights. Took 6 days, 3 year guarantee had some issues with loose leaking it is a concealed cistern but all issues fixed.

Yes it was replastered. The tiles took the plaster off, so it was reboarded. Not a relative at all. My builder who was doing the rest of my house recommended him the the job. He was just setting up on his own after doing the job for a company for years.

I saw your other thread and loved your bathroom colour so much I showed it to my husband - do you have any other pics and where did you get the floor?

TheSpruce · 12/02/2024 20:14

Well one thing I've learned from this thread is that some people really will pay anything & don't seem to mind getting ripped off.

I came on the thread to post my own but you really are so rude OP! No one came on here to argue with you. Your attitude and posting style is a disgrace. Why are you being so unpleasant when people are trying to help?

Tryingtokeepgoing · 12/02/2024 21:02

Delerium1970 · 12/02/2024 15:09

what was price? 7 days, seems like shortcuts been taken :) If you will google - proper bathroom job takes around 14-20 working days if is done properly. Assuming working: 8.00-17.00

I’ve had 5 bathrooms redone in the last few years, and none took 20 working days. 14/15 person days of effort, maybe. But only 10 days of actual disruption. I’d suggest that a team of professionals could do it in less if they actually worked from 8 until 5 ;)

mondaytosunday · 12/02/2024 21:14

£7k, which included some very nice tiles, and reinforcements to the floor which was uneven. My daughter's smaller bathroom was £10k, but had to move all the plumbing around, and I got very expensive tiles!

ParentsTrapped · 12/02/2024 21:23

I’ve been quoted £15k to redo our family bathroom and tiny loft shower room. The family bathroom is back to brick as we are making the room bigger. We are in London so would expect prices to be higher.

Songsareliketattoos · 13/02/2024 04:10

Just spent around £12,000 on bathroom 2.5 by 3m. New window, all pipework replaced, old floor taken up and new one laid, waterproof laminate flooring on top, back to brick then replastered, lots of tiling, new bath, loo, sink, all taps, shower cubicle and shower, new radiator, new soil pipe and waste pipes externally. Work done over 5 weeks as plaster needed time to dry out completely before tiling, plus couple of unavoidable delays due to illness. Bathroom is transformed. West Mids.

Netaporter · 13/02/2024 05:45

@Delerium1970 out of interest, who told you that you need tanking? A good fitter will use a suitable waterproof tile board if required, but the point of tiles is that they are waterproof? Tanking won’t solve a bad plumbing job where the fixtures or pipework have been poorly fitted. Or a poor mastic job. Prices will vary according to the level of fixtures and fittings. Floor to ceiling tiling is obviously very much more expensive than just around a shower. Using a firm to project manage and supply the sanitaryware/tiles/f&f will obviously be more expensive than you supplying everything and getting a separate plumber and tiler - hence the price difference on this thread.

I’d also add, don’t forget to get the radiator installed so that you can switch it on independently of the CH so you don’t have permanently damp towels in warmer months.
