Help! Ways to improve green sofa!

greensofawoes · 05/11/2022 11:47

Just received a forest green sofa and hate it! I’m not keen on the seat cushions as they look overstuffed but hopefully that will improve with time.
Unfortunately the colour is the issue it’s much duller / flat than the swatch suggested. Any suggestions of colours to paint the wall behind (or wallpapers) that might “lift” the sofa colour?
Tried yellow cushions and it still looks rubbish
Can’t return as they want £300 for collection

I think pictures on the wall that have some of the green in, but aren’t too matchy matchy would be enough? I really like it. I think it will be lovely of you can just break up the starkness of the wall and tie it in with the sofa.

Antique golds, bronze & dark wooden furniture. Have a look on Pinterest.

Ooh looking at the Pinterest pictures, I think you want to do the whole botanical thing.

blackberrybat · 05/11/2022 11:58

A warm pale pink on the walls would look lovely with it

NemoNotThatOne · 05/11/2022 12:00

Coral coloured cushions would work well. Agree it looks a bit over-stuffed at the moment but it will settle- better than looking right now and too flat in 6 months.

@SheWoreYellow I'm slowly turning my living room in to a botanical jungle! I've got a brown leather sofa but have used green and antique gold as the accent course. Tkmaxx is brilliant for accessories, furniture and mirrors. Check out antique shops as well.

I quite like it, you need loads more cushions in different colours.

Pieceofpurplesky · 05/11/2022 12:19

Teal wall or wild wallpaper and then loads of mismatched cushions

That wallpaper is gorgeous. I've been thinking of getting a dark green sofa so this is very helpful!

Worriedaboutethics · 05/11/2022 12:49

@greensofawoes

fawn fake fur throws and cushions ( plus waffle Blanket etc)
plus you have not got the seat cushions level and you should have more of the others cushions

Fenneloup · 05/11/2022 12:50

Agree on the pink wall idea, not a girly pink, more of a muted one.
I think the sofa is lovely.

Badger1970 · 05/11/2022 12:51

I'd send it back, OP and consider it £300 well spent.

I'm in the trade, and that wouldn't leave my premises. The cushions aren't sat properly together and with that amount of puckering already, you're going to be in big trouble when the cushions flatten. Sorry.

CrushedPistachios · 05/11/2022 12:53

Can you take a picture of the swatch actually against the sofa? Is it the same fabric?

BronwenFrideswide · 05/11/2022 12:54

Concerning that the back cushions are all at different heights, have you got the front cushions properly pushed to the back of the sofa?

Agree with others regarding colour choices or wallpaper be bold.

Where did you get it from?? I freaking love that sofa!! If only it was shaped the other way!

BronwenFrideswide · 05/11/2022 13:00

Looking at it again is that big back cushion meant to be on the other end, the one with the long bit?

rickandmorts · 05/11/2022 13:01

Pink walls like others have said. We have a pink and green bathroom and it looks awesome 😁 lots of plants. Bronze or gold accessories.

bakehimawaytoys · 05/11/2022 13:04

My sofa is that colour! We have some striped linen cushion covers (oatmeal and green) and some plain oatmeal cushions. I really like it!

LeMoo · 05/11/2022 13:06

I'd go for deep plum / pinky plum on the wall. You just need to warm the area up a bit. I'd add cushions in a dark plum, place between the sofa and the yellow cushions to balance it out.

You want 3 colours in a room - main colour, secondary colour and accent colour. The yellow is your accent so you need a rich colour to balance it out with the green. Pick right and it'll look great - pick right and you could add a second accent, fluffy cream throws would look good.

LeMoo · 05/11/2022 13:07

Put a tall lamp in the corner, bringing the sofa out from the corner a bit too.

KnackeredMum81 · 05/11/2022 13:07

Paprika is very much a colour of the moment. This could work in some cushions, with a shade of pink wall that ties in, plus other cushions and throws. H&M has nice throws.

LeMoo · 05/11/2022 13:08

Oh and my advice still works if you want to lose the yellow cushions, just realised they're a new addition.

LeMoo · 05/11/2022 13:11

And consider a shelf behind the sofa, stick a few books on it - with that a floor lamp in the corner, you'd have a really cosy and welcoming place.

PeeJayDay · 05/11/2022 13:22

You need to put the cushions on properly.

FurAndFeathers · 05/11/2022 13:28

The sofa cushions aren’t on properly and the yellow in the throw cushions clashes. Switch for a bright pink or coral accent .

wall behind in a muted pink or paprika colour. Muted pink throw.
shelf with plants and accessories in pinks, teals and greens.
