We have a few decorative bits we are waiting on being delivered but does it seem something is missing from my daughters bedroom?

Gently, I suspect you wanted to post these photos and have people coo over them rather than give criticism/suggestions, which is valid (because the room looks lovely and you’ve clearly poured your heart into it) but you’re possibly not going to get the reaction you want with the OP you’ve posted

I agree. I don’t think this was ever a post to ACTUALLY get opinions on what’s missing, as all suggestions have been shot down for one reason or another. You clearly love the room, and are proud of it. So other opinions don’t matter.

It’s a sweet room, you’ve made alot of effort. It’s clearly missing a rug/play mat but you don’t want to add one for whatever reason. So don’t! But why ask?

TheRealityCheque · 23/03/2022 15:39

Clear #Humblebrag here.

Ooooh look at how wonderful our kids room is. 🙄

Have a biscuit. Biscuit

Namechangehereandnow · 23/03/2022 15:41

OP, I too think you posted to boast/brag over your dd’s beautiful room, but are too polite to blatantly say that.

You’re not getting the ooh’s and ahh’s you were hoping for … I’d leave it at that Wink
@SleepingStandingUp It's not about the colour per se, it's about the "pinkification" of girls, including the toys. I don't like anything that indicates to someone that their identity, choices etc should be limited to a stereotype. And a shit stereotype at that (eg princesses just get to "be" pretty instead of actually "do" cool stuff).

There's a lot written on pinkification - random link below

www.pinkisforboys.org/blog/why-pinkification-matters
Which would be fine if thats what had happened here. But it hasn't. She has a mainly beige room. There is nothing princess about this room. There is nothing to day she's being limited to a stereotype because she has SOME pink in her room. And at 2,my eldest would have picked cot and dly over truck too, except everyone would be applauding that instead of commenting on what a poor child he was

Mamadooley · 23/03/2022 15:50

There is some real cattiness here my god 😬

I'm surprised how many people are suggesting a bedside lamp for a 2 year old.
Is it just me who wouldn't trust my toddler??

Mamadooley · 23/03/2022 15:58

My daughter ripped the shade with bulb still attached of my living room floor lamp the other day it’s not practical 🤣

Beautiful room.

I would add a rug and a chest of drawers.

titchy · 23/03/2022 16:01

Curtains! Looks cold with just the blinds. And another colour.

whenwillthemadnessend · 23/03/2022 16:04

A few pretty pictures and a rug It's a lovely room

allinadaystwerk · 23/03/2022 16:06

Colour, it's pretty but needs an injection of fun and colour , maybe a messy play area, or stage or home corner? I had one when dd was little, blackboard easle drawing and crafts with I vinyl rug and darker toned wall just in the corner. It looked more child focussed and she spent hours in her crafty corner

Mamadooley · 23/03/2022 16:18

Thankyou all some love suggestions I’ll deffo put some prints up and look into getting curtains. I would also get a rug but she likes to hide under them 😁

confettisprinkles · 23/03/2022 16:18

It's a beautiful room, I'd defo add some blackout curtains, my two year old wakes with the sun if it isn't dark in her room. Also a rug would be nice next to the bed, H&M or dunelm usually have lovely childrens ones.

beachcitygirl · 23/03/2022 16:27

A bedside table for juice & book & bedside lamp would make it more comfy I think.
It is absolutely lovely op.

HerRoyalNotness · 23/03/2022 16:34

Patterned curtains to add interest. Maybe florals which will add different colours

Octomore · 23/03/2022 16:34

If she likes to make dens under rugs, what's wrong with that? It's not as if you wouldn't be able to find her!

PragmaticWench · 23/03/2022 16:35

A lamp for bedtime stories. What about a Gro clock so she can visually tell when it's 'sleepy time' and when it's 'getting up time'? It could be up high so little fingers can't fiddle with the buttons and loudly declare at 2am that it's wakey up time!

My children also loved the ceiling glow in the dark stickers.

DaisyDozyDee · 23/03/2022 16:38

This. If she likes to hide under rugs, that’s more of a reason to get one, not less.
BellaTheDarkOverlord · 23/03/2022 16:39

Second curtains. DD has some from dunhelm mill. Pink crushed velvet blackout ones. Really lovely.

Helenahandkart · 23/03/2022 16:47

Chemistry set. Go-kart. PlayStation.

shouldhestay · 23/03/2022 16:47

A little bedside table or shelf

OhGingleBells · 23/03/2022 16:48

Oh OP it’s gorgeous!! What a lucky little girl!

What about a doll’s house? A chunky wooden one she can play with rather than a decorative fancy one. Or a rocking horse?

Has she seen it yet? She might have some ideas herself of anything else she’d like in her room - within reason obviously!

Does she like dressing up? Maybe a rail of dressing up clothes and a mirror?

Definitely an armchair of some sort. Maybe one of the ones that fold out to be a single bed so you or a sibling could have a sleepover on occasion.

Some letters spelling her name on the wall or the door would be nice too!

BasiliskStare · 23/03/2022 16:59

I don't think there is anything wrong with pink if the DD likes it but it is quite pale so I would put a rug of a much stronger colour down and I would put a bedside table with a lamp on it. I would also think about another blind curtains as if she does sleep in there it could be very light. All others have said but just my tuppence's worth. Also may be out of shot but where do you keep her clothes ?

looks lovely though I am sure she is happy.

Rantypanties · 23/03/2022 17:03

Why does it matter? She won’t play independently in it till she’s much older 🤷🏼‍♀️

Weird humble brag post- put it on Instagram…

Veryverycalmnow · 23/03/2022 17:05

I really like the look of this room- it will soon get a bit of character and toys etc when you move in, but you're showing us the decor which is lovely. Sounds like you know what she likes and needs. I'd love to have a separate playroom- that must be great.
I wonder if the previous posters who are being rude are jealous.
