@Chewbecca

I have a room in brinjal already! Love it.

I can see Cane works but it doesn’t excite me. Might try a pot.

I’d love to pick out a red but would it be overwhelming in the hall, stairs & landing? The hall is dark.

Will work through those greens.

Yup I think it would be overwhelming to have ALL the walls red or green. Unless the look you are going for is full on French ski chalet. Which to be fair could be a good look. (Mmm... tartiflette)

But mainly a neutral (such as FB Tallow) and one wall in a deep colour matching the green or red could work.

Or Brinjal 😉

Sorry OP, not good. And I love retro, traditional etc style. It will look agressive and not restful.

Stookeen · 29/01/2022 17:06

@Chewbecca

I think I can see now that Cane is by far the most flattering
God, people never accept my suggestions! I'm terribly pleased that a random stranger on the internet thought something I said was a good idea. Grin

I agree that Cane isn't a colour to get wildly excited about in theory, but I said the same about F and B Dead Salmon, and it looks wonderful in the room I put it in.

Chewbecca · 29/01/2022 17:16

🤣 which room is it @CorsicaDreaming?

P.s. love Corsica too!

@Chewbecca I was very keen to have a tartan stair carpet but ended up with tartan wallpaper as a feature wall and a plain carpet. I'm really pleased with it

That is a good wall! DH would like the pic too 😁

We have a similar colour paint (not f and b) on stairs, hall and landing. I don't like it, even though I chose it.
It somehow makes everything look a bit "sickly".

@Chewbecca - We have done the one wall in our office (in earlier pic) Brinjal and are now about to tackle the lounge....

One wall to be Brinjal (with controversially the little side wall to the bay window also in Brinjal) - and then the rest will be FB Tallow below the picture rail and FB Pointing above the picture rail. Ceiling white (in my mind ceilings always have to be proper Dulux white!). Or possibly also Pointing. Just not keen on a cream ceiling so unsure on that one...

DH isn't 100% set on my Brinjal plus controversial asymmetric painting to the bay window idea. But pragmatically says, "Well I can always paint it over all magnolia if it doesn't work..."
I do love a pragmatic man 😆 Especially one who will let you go with your bonkers ideas, but then has a pragmatic back up plan if it all goes horribly wrong!

I've also painted all the risers on the stairs Brinjal and then FB mahogany on the treads (on the stairs to basement part, not the main stairs - that would clearly be mad 😉). It is much redder purple colour as modern eggshell....

I think I may be doing some more neutral repainting if we ever come to sell it.

I can't wait to get back to Corsica

Cap Corse by the sea...

F&B Duck Green

Chewbecca · 29/01/2022 21:50

Duck green. A good match. Bold!

Brinjal is in my loo.

We saw Eric Cantona in a heavenly beachside restaurant in Cap Corse once.

Are you really stuck on the carpet? Ie is that non negotiable?

Chewbecca · 29/01/2022 22:04

DH is. He's always wanted a tartan carpet.

I could persuade him to other shades if I found one that was fabulous.

I'm sorry, OP but that carpet would literally stop me buying a house.

I have seen more absolutely awful carpets with patterns in the UK than anywhere else.

It might work as a smallish area rug over hardwood, but wall to wall, no.

Chewbecca · 29/01/2022 22:41

The house is not going up for sale!

Brinton carpets are lovely! But that one does give a dated hotel vibe, sorry. How about Earth Plaid - that's a more neutral check?

whatisheupto · 29/01/2022 23:40

I like the carpet! I'm pretty sure it's the same as Rupert Bear's scarf?!

whatisheupto · 29/01/2022 23:43

Oh, no, I've just checked and it's nothing like it!!

Sexnotgender · 30/01/2022 07:09

Duck green. A good match. Bold!
That’s lovely but would make the area very dark I imagine.
milkyaqua · 30/01/2022 07:14

The paint colour is nice. The carpet looks like a picnic blanket.

Oblomov22 · 30/01/2022 07:32

The natural looks like a cloth napkin fur Christmas. I'm not Keen. The paint is ok, but not warm enough for the carpet, wrong paint tone.

Roselilly36 · 30/01/2022 07:44

That shade of paint does not go with that carpet at all. Personally I don’t think the carpet will be a good choice for stairs, landing etc as it may not pattern match correctly. If you have stairs that have a turn in them etc it won’t look right. But your call OP.

LtGreggs · 30/01/2022 07:46

We're about to put Brintons Tyrone Plaid in our hallway & stairs (well, as long as the house purchase comes good!). The walls are a gentle green already, similar to your original pic. The tyrone plaid is more earthy irl than the red it looks on some Internet photos. It's from the same Abbeyglen range.

GVmama · 30/01/2022 07:49

I think cane works well, and the duck green. Wellies and labradors are very much our vibe here so I can see where you’re going with it. Personally I would go for cane as the green might suck the light out unless it’s well lit with natural light.
