I quite like them both separately but not together. The tones are way too different. I quite like a clash but the tones have to still match? So either a tartan in a different tone or a different paint.

Sexnotgender · 29/01/2022 12:36

Most people on here are into grey and neutrals - don’t let any comment out you off

Not necessarily. I’m currently sitting in my kitchen that’s this colour and I love it.

I still think that green doesn’t go with the carpet!

A more 'yellowy' Sage green (so like the lightest green in the tartan) would work I think? Sorry, I don't know anything about F&B paint though, I'm too poor! Grin

What about cane?

Or card room Green.

I’m not into neutrals at all, but that green is all wrong. If the carpet is a definite, I think you need to think which of its colours you want to pick up in F and B. Maybe the beige — B and B Cane? Or Picture Gallery Red or Incarnadine for the reds? Or Eating Room or Radicchio? If it’s the green you’d prefer to go with — Calke or Sap Green? It’s hard to get an accurate sense of the colours of the carpet online, but it’s warm, rust, autumnal tones. Your green is too cool.

@Sexnotgender

What about cane?
Snap, I thought that might work, too.
Shouldbedoing · 29/01/2022 13:02

There's too much blue in that 'green' paint so iit's not a match for the carpet

whymewhyme · 29/01/2022 13:05

I like both but not together, how about a dark green on the walls or a nutral beige

CorsicaDreaming · 29/01/2022 13:19

To my eye that paint (and I generally do like FB Green Blue) manages to clash with both the red and green in your carpet choice, which is pretty impressive!

If you really want that carpet I'd go for a neutral wall in FB tallow with one statement wall in the dark green of the carpet (FB Studio Green possibly?) or FB Radicchio if you are bold and fancy red (I would!)

CorsicaDreaming · 29/01/2022 13:25

Or would one wall of Brinjal FB work? The carpet is v colourful and so perhaps something even darker to offset?

CorsicaDreaming · 29/01/2022 13:27

FB Brinjal Estate Emulsion
Looks even better at night under electric light
(If you like that kind of thing!)

minipie · 29/01/2022 13:46

I love Brinjal but please not with that carpet!

Red green and purple… 😬

CorsicaDreaming · 29/01/2022 14:57

@minipie - it's controversial, but I think it could work... the estate emulsion ends up the deepest brown like an aubergine skin - but the modern eggshell is much more purplish I agree...

I have a neutral cream Berber rug over wood floor with that Brinjal wall tbh. So possibly could be a bit much with a checked carpet...

Stookeen · 29/01/2022 15:00

I love Brinjal, though I've never used it, but if I were the OP and wanted to go with a deep-coloured wall, I'd probably go with one of the rusty, deep reds of the carpet, rather than introduce another colour again, especially if Brinjal comes out more purple in some finishes and lighting.

Chewbecca · 29/01/2022 16:16

I have a room in brinjal already! Love it.

I can see Cane works but it doesn’t excite me. Might try a pot.

I’d love to pick out a red but would it be overwhelming in the hall, stairs & landing? The hall is dark.

Will work through those greens.

Liking card room green but may still be too cool?

Definitely don’t go together. The F and B is subtle and the carpet is v loud.

Chewbecca · 29/01/2022 16:23

Here with Cane

Roger Oates have beautiful runners and carpets. Lots of colour choice but much classier looking.

Chewbecca · 29/01/2022 16:27

I think I can see now that Cane is by far the most flattering

insancerre · 29/01/2022 16:27

I like the carpet
I have a tartan carpet in one of my downstairs rooms
I do like it with the cane
Goes perfectly

CorsicaDreaming · 29/01/2022 16:46

I love that you already have a Brinjal wall @Chewbecca - I always knew I was psychic 😆

OhFuckBloodyHell · 29/01/2022 16:51

I think cane goes well.

If you wanted a green, maybe Calke green? But it might be a bit much, Cane is nicely neutral with a carpet that busy I think.
