1 SuperKing duvet or 2 x double duvets?

If you had a SuperKing size bed, would you get one SuperKing size duvet or two double duvets? My DH and I have a constant duvet battle.

We're replacing our bed soon to a SK size one and I've wanted have separate duvets for years (as is common in Scandi countries I think) but am I just setting myself up for extra laundry/faffing around?

Does anybody else have two duvets on a bed and is it annoying?!

Two duvets on our super king. Works really well!! Less disruption if one person comes to bed later than the other, plus we have different types of duvets and wrap ourselves up in them differently (!) because I like it cooler than DH.
Double duvet covers are also much cheaper than SK ones, and we had loads already so it made sense.

We have a super king, I hate it!!! It's heavy and cumbersome and a nightmare to change. I even struggle to fold it. If we hadn't already bought £££ duvet covers I would change it for 2 doubles in a heartbeat.

FoolsAssassin · 09/05/2020 17:02

2 double.

KitKatKit · 09/05/2020 17:12

Thank you everyone! @SeasideArms that's my worry, that changing a SK or Emperor duvet will be a pain in the arse 😄

Separate Duvets! No matter the size of the bed, best for the relationship!

KitKatKit · 09/05/2020 17:27

@dudsville 😄 That's what I was thinking too. Who cares whether its an extra duvet cover to wash!

We have 2 duvets. Mine goes underneath the heavy massive tog one my oh likes. Mine is the lightest tog I could find. He has a winter one all year round. Freak.

mommybear1 · 09/05/2020 17:48

We had an SK duvet which worked well for us before DC post DC separate all the way OP go for it!!

RandomMess · 09/05/2020 17:51

We have 2 single duvets on ours, perfect!

Roselilly36 · 09/05/2020 18:10

We have a SK bed, we have a SK duvet, the bed would look good made with two separate duvets surely? Lucky for me DH isn’t a duvet hogger!

Whycantibetangy · 09/05/2020 18:13

2duvets? How do you make the bed? Is it fold each in half down the middle or one on top of the other?

AgeLikeWine · 09/05/2020 18:17

Two duvets all the way. It really is a complete 100% no-brainer as its combines the benefits of a double bed and separate beds. No more duvet battles & much better sleep for both partners. The ‘hot’ partner can stay cool under a thin duvet, while the ‘cold’ partner snuggles up under a thick one. I would never want to share a duvet again, and I have no idea why everyone doesn’t do it.

Geometricprince · 09/05/2020 18:20

We had two doubles but it was just loads of duvet so now we've got two singles. It is better (except when the dog steals some of it Hmm)

magicstar1 · 09/05/2020 18:28

We only have a double bed, but a double duvet each. Only 4 tog, but if it’s cold we can layer them up. DH likes to cocoon, but I throw mine around so this is the perfect arrangement.

KitKatKit · 09/05/2020 19:30

Thanks all!

@mommybear1 Considering we have a little one due this year, sounds like two duvets is the way to go!

@RandomMess and @Geometricprince Do you find that a single duvet is 'enough'? The only thing putting me off singles is that 6'3 DH won't have enough coverage!

OP posts:
Geometricprince · 09/05/2020 19:34

We do but I'm a short arse and ds is just under 6ft! With two doubles we just found that it was either trailing on the floor or doubling up in places and I hate being too warm.

RandomMess · 09/05/2020 19:41

DH is 6'3" not an issue as you aren't sharing it 😂

He used to cocoon himself in the KS one! Also had the ability to turn is sideways, whip
It off me and wake me up. Also no more cold draughty where it is suspended between you.

They overlap in the middle and I always shuffle onto his side of the bed for sex anyway Grin

bluefoxmug · 09/05/2020 19:43

2 single ones.
much easier to change, wash and dry

RedRosie · 09/05/2020 19:44

Two double duvets on a king size bed.

One of the three secrets of a happy marriage.

RandomMess · 09/05/2020 19:45

I also love that I can stick my feet out either side of the duvet!

KittenVsBox · 09/05/2020 19:48

We had a massive bed in a rental house (we had three pillows across the top), and I had our existing king duvet, and DH had a double.
Having slept in the kids beds, a single is not enough for an adult on a long term bases.
If you like your existing bedding, I suggest you keep what you already gave, and top ut up with an additional duvet for the other person.
I used to make the bed by putting down DHs double duvet on his side of the bed, then putting the king centrally over the top.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 09/05/2020 19:48

2 double duvets. Never looked back! Both warm when we want and cool when we want.

bluefoxmug · 09/05/2020 19:53

oh, yes it is Wink

but, of course it's preference.

KittenVsBox · 09/05/2020 19:56

Ok, a single is not enough for my arse as a permanant arrangement Grin

Aramox · 09/05/2020 19:59

We have one king size duvet on a superking bed because we had the duvet before the bed! Works fine.
