1 SuperKing duvet or 2 x double duvets?

If you had a SuperKing size bed, would you get one SuperKing size duvet or two double duvets? My DH and I have a constant duvet battle.

We're replacing our bed soon to a SK size one and I've wanted have separate duvets for years (as is common in Scandi countries I think) but am I just setting myself up for extra laundry/faffing around?

Does anybody else have two duvets on a bed and is it annoying?!

@RedRosie I feel I now need to know the other two Wink

KitKatKit · 09/05/2020 20:17

I agree @RedRosie what are the other two?!

Thanks to everyone who has shared input Smile

I started an identical thread a few months ago!
We had a trial run usng the single duvets from spare room and found it perfectly OK.
Much easier to wash, dry and change.
Also we like different togs.
Caveat is that both of us are under 6ft tall and neither overweight. If there is a bit more of you to cover, a single might feel skimpy.

I'm amazed at how much larger a SKS bed is compared to a KS. With the extra space and our own duvets, I feel like the bed is all mine!

KitKatKit · 09/05/2020 20:34

@WhereDoesThisToiletGo Ah I should've searched for your thread! Yes, we're really excited about the extra space. We both like to sleep with bent elbows/knees so looking forward to being able to sleep without elbowing/kneeing each other 😆

One duvet as I prefer the look

DorsetCamping · 09/05/2020 20:37

Wow 2 duvets?? Never even thought this was a thing!

Chesneyhawkes1 · 09/05/2020 20:38

We have a king duvet each

RandomMess · 09/05/2020 20:39

2 duvets is the norm in the rest of Europe!

Lazydaisydaydream · 09/05/2020 20:42

We have a superking bed and two single duvets. It has been life changing haha. I have a thick tog and he has the lightest one possible. We have the same duvet cover pattern on each one so when we make the bed it just looks like one duvet. Not a single argument about duvet hogging since we made the switch!

RedRosie · 09/05/2020 20:43

The other two secrets to a happy marriage?

Separate bathrooms.

Shift work.

bluefoxmug · 09/05/2020 20:44

we separate matrasses as well.
I can't even feel dh getting in/out or moving in his sleep.
bliss

RandomMess · 09/05/2020 20:45

We have separate mattresses too 😂

Then DH snoring got so bad he moved out to the spare bed for sleeping! Utter bliss, I am much nicer to live with now I sleep better apparently.

Soontobe60 · 09/05/2020 20:46

@SeasideArms

Post lockdown, you could get someone to alter your duvet covers to doubles?

Soontobe60 · 09/05/2020 20:47

Me and my DD had to share a bed in Berlin. It had separate duvets and was fab!

Our last bed was a super king. I hated changing the duvet! Needed a lie down when I'd finished 🤣

TigerDroveAgain · 09/05/2020 20:50

We’ve gone to separate duvets in the last few months. And it’s fantastic! Highly recommend

Costacoffeeplease · 09/05/2020 20:51

Two duvets here, so glad we changed a couple of years ago. It started when we wanted different weight duvets when I was having menopausal hot flushes, but we still prefer them even though that’s no longer an issue

Foggyday124 · 09/05/2020 20:53

We have an emperor and two duvets. You get more choice of patterns and they cost way less than the linen for the emperor!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 09/05/2020 20:56

One duvet as I prefer the look
One duvet is easier to look tidy but I've got the hang of making the two singles look pretty neat. We have a throw over the bottom of the bed which makes the bed look more unified.

MarshaBradyo · 09/05/2020 21:00

Wheredoes tbh I haven’t ever considered not matching the size of the bed to the size of the duvet until mn. I know I couldn’t do it though!

qazxc · 09/05/2020 21:00

Separate duvets. I sleep with a weighted blanket whilst DP has a duvet and it is bliss to no longer have a tug of war in the middle of night. I'm not tall but am quite rotund and a single size blanket covers me.

mcdog · 09/05/2020 21:02

This is genius, why have I not thought of this before?! I go spare with the tug o' war that happens with our SK duvet on a SK bed 🙄🙄

KitKatKit · 09/05/2020 21:08

Separate duvets, separate mattresses, separate bathrooms... you'd think we all despised those we share beds with 😁

@wheredoesthistoiletgo Yes I'd definitely get throw to chuck over the top and make the whole thing look neat!

@Foggyday124 I was thinking this too, there's way more variety in the smaller linen sizes than in larger ones.

@Chesneyhawkes1 A king duvet each - you're my hero. You must have serious bicep strength changing two sets of king covers!😉

We’ve always had two duvets doubles but have gone down to singles as I struggle with doubles now, due to arthritis much easier with singles.

123456abcd · 09/05/2020 21:17

2 single duvets on a super king work just fine.

DorsetCamping · 09/05/2020 21:19

Total game changer Shock
