1 SuperKing duvet or 2 x double duvets?

If you had a SuperKing size bed, would you get one SuperKing size duvet or two double duvets? My DH and I have a constant duvet battle.

We're replacing our bed soon to a SK size one and I've wanted have separate duvets for years (as is common in Scandi countries I think) but am I just setting myself up for extra laundry/faffing around?

Does anybody else have two duvets on a bed and is it annoying?!

Two singles on a super king - started with two doubles and it was too bulky and just too much bedding getting in my way and annoying me. Have a king size now and still use two singles. Seem to have a small child permanently in with me most nights so they can kick their side off to their hearts content Smile

How do you make the bed?

That’s my question too. DH and I are both over 6’ so two singles are not an option. I haven’t used a single duvet since I was twelve.

we have a five foot bed and a superking, as I was sick to death of dh sleeping on the edge and causing a fucking windtunnel down the middle

Apparently he was sick to death of me sleeping in the middle, taking all the space with my 18 elbows and sausagerolling with the duvet

he still moans a bit but the SK on the 5ft bed works nicely.

When we have occasion to sleep on the sofa bed we have two double duvets, and that is barely 4ft6, but that's lovely.

The superking is an absolute bugger to change, but I dangle it over the banister and do a good deal of shaking and corner grabbing which works well enough.

DH always changes ours superking duvet cover as his arms are much longer GrinI'd just make a hash of it.

At the moment I just have a double as I'm co-sleeping with DD and it's easier that way, but when DH is back in with me I think we will switch to two duvets! It sounds the way forward.

I have never thought about length of duvets.
DH is 6'4"

So, we have a 6' wide bed and each have a single duvet.

We also have a light 3tog super king duvet to go over the top when the bed is made.
I kick this off but DH keeps it at the foot of the bed. Over his legs/feet.
Is this because a single duvet is too short?
I never knew! Grin

RandomMess · 11/05/2020 09:49

DH is 6'3" and doesn't find a single too short, presumably it depends on whether you lay completely straight and how high up you pull it...

I don't like a double duvet, I like knowing where the edge is on both sides!!!

We have superking at the moment and I’m a weakling so DH has to change it, I just get tangled. We are hoping to move at some point and said when we do I would like 2 duvets so I can change as and when, more options too.

I've just been washing the bedding for the spare room which is a king size duvet in a double bed. The king size is the same length as the singles, only the width is different

EstebanTheMagnificent · 11/05/2020 16:50

You must have long singles, Jackie. Standard single and double duvet are both 200cm long, and king and super king are 220cm. You can get long singles which are 220cm long.

We have a super king and a SK quilt which works surprisingly well for us on a nightly basis. We are both very tall and I don't like being overly warm). It is a PITA to change bedding though.
