Help! What colour to paint my therapy room wallls?

Have qualified as a hypnotherapist and am setting up my therapy room. It has a sloping roof. I have a purple chair and two dark grey ones (see pic) Was thinking of a soft green for the walls, but not sure! Looked at Dulux Nordic Spa, but maybe a bit bright? I like the look of Highland Falls number 4 or 5, but haven’t got a tester pot yet. The room gets lots of light and greys look very cold. I need something calming and that isn’t too girly, as I will have male clients too. Any help much appreciated.

Lilac. I'm a bloke love it, v calming.

Ooplesandbanoonoos · 13/01/2019 18:33

I think soft green is a good idea. One with a tone that doesn't clash with the grey. May be more blueish tones than brown if that makes sense. Or yes a lilac or maybe stronger Heather shade.

Dulux almond white & put artwork / curtains or blinds in that ties in the grey & purple of the chairs.

cathlaugh · 13/01/2019 21:58

Thank you. Tried Almond White, but it can’t out very grey. Not sure re curtains and blinds either! That’s a good idea though. Here’s the inside at the moment.

I’d be tempted to go dark and cosy, I think that building could take it and it would be lovely and relaxing for hypnotherapy

I think the dog wants to come in Grin

I like the lilac shade, very relaxing.

@cathlaugh maybe try a selection of the whites, I can't remember the name of the one I loved in my old house, but it was whiter than the almond white & looks so lovely with everything. But I've not put colour on the walls in years. A nice wallpaper on 1 wall might be nice too. I love that dark room pic posted above, but not sure you'd get that effect with so much natural light. Depending how the sun comes in blinds might be better so you can move them with the sun, I have similar doors in my lounge & kitchen & the sun drives me nuts, it's a new house & ive not managed to decide what to put up at the windows yet.

Lol! Yes Scamper wanted in! Never thought of going dark. Suppose was worried that people might think that the walls were closing in on them. But I like it! Do we know what shade that is so I can get a tester pot @FritzyMousey?

So much green outside, I’d go for lilacs

Atalune · 13/01/2019 22:19

Farrow and Ball- Bone which is a very soft and warm light green/taupe, with All white wood work.

I would ditch the purple chair.... sorry purple is just so tacky for a therapist!

I would have green velvet and Berber style embroidered cushions. Get a big fluffy rug from Laredoute- they have some pretty cream, greens and pink Berber style ones in the sale.

Get a few plants too.

FritzyMousey · 13/01/2019 22:20

Found a reference for the paint but not heard of it: wall, trim and fireplace colour, Maryjane, Para Paints

Atalune · 13/01/2019 22:21

I hate almond white- too yellowish and looks a bit like crappy old magnolia.

Bone- trust me it’s a winner.

You could go grey on woodwork with bone. That looks really lovely- a really light grey though.

JosephineHass · 13/01/2019 22:28

Green.
Green colour is having naturally calming effects.

Neutrals or greens would be lovely and relaxing and appropriate for a garden room, you’d have to drape some throws over the chairs though as they would look very officey against neutrals

cathlaugh · 13/01/2019 22:48

Purple is my fave colour. 😂 I thought it made the grey chairs look less severe. There wasn’t a lot of choice of colours in recliner chairs.

My tutor had a huge purple sofa! 😂

The client has a throw to put round them, so good idea to drape it and another one across the chairs. And thanks for the paint name.

Almond white actually cake out grey for some odd reason! Though that was just the tester pot. Will look at bone. Also liked powder something in Farrow and Ball, but wasn’t sure if too blue.

It’s an American paint, alas!

Think the bone is maybe too yellow? It’s the last pic below. Then the first one is Cromarty and the second is Pale Powder. What do you all think?

josephine what is that blue called please? It looks like dulux heritage clear skies...?

Bluesheep8 · 14/01/2019 05:50

Pale powder is beautiful op. I read an article about it once and both men and women who were surveyed found it the mist calming colour out of a selection they were shown of all different makes.

Notwiththeseknees · 14/01/2019 05:55

How about a pale lilac, mixed with some sage green and some oak accessories & tweed throws.
But if I'm honest, that carpet would terrify me - it is very busy!

Notwiththeseknees · 14/01/2019 05:56

Just realised, carpet is in a different building, so sorry Blush
