I'm having a wobble, I'm not sure the colour of the walls is working with the floor tiles in the family bathroom - thoughts?

And if it doesn't work any suggestions?

Ah well I like it but I see what you are saying. I think paint something with same tonality but green (e.g. F&B Ball Green) on large piece of lining paper, stick over and see.

I think you are right, but the hallway isn't changing as it's the only thing I like at the minute (see small section of downstairs hall blue to left, it works with the rest of the house..I think (now doubting myself)

That bit is lovely.

Ok, forget the bathroom...that parquet floor is gorgeous! (But based on those pics I'd say keep bathroom as is. )

I have just ordered a lot of tester pots for next day delivery, expect a huge number of pictures from me on Friday with large painted samples pinned to the wall

I've seen this on Pinterest. If your bathroom gets lots of light and you have a dark hallway I wouldn't be afraid of going lighter. This is just an example (the bathroom suite is too modern, but the rest of decor seems like yours).

That does look nice, I have ordered some light tester pots too (managed to spend more on tester pots than I have on full size pots so far!)

I also think due to the dark colour in the hallway you should go light in the bathroom, otherwise it will clash.,,

Tatlerer · 09/08/2017 13:47

Gatorades we are tile buddies! I've picked these out for my family bathroom too! Best price on them I can find is via tons of tiles- did you purchase from there or from LA directly?
I personally like your colour combo but I'm going really plain with mine-white subway tile in shower cubicle and cornforth white on walls.

NanooCov · 09/08/2017 14:02

I really like it and don't think it really matters what the colour in the bathroom looks like beside the hall colours - after all you're (presumably) unlikely to sit one the throne with the door wide open to the hall?

I do think you could do with some scotia edging to finish off your floor though.

GatoradesDream · 09/08/2017 14:42

Off to google scotia edging....

What about painting the whole thing the same colour as above the paneling? Would that look too samey? (Following your lead with the pale colour Tatlerer - my fitter sourced the tiles so I'm not sure where he got them)

As for the look against the hall way, the bathroom can be seen as you walk up the stairs and it all clashes a bit, we don't tend to shut the doors when the room isn't in use

Omg i love it! What colour is the blue? In the bathroom? I've been looking for a blue like that for ages? Moving house soon and want to steal your ideas???? X

GatoradesDream · 09/08/2017 15:27

It's Fired Earth smoke blue (I thought it was Storm blue but just checked the photo I took of the pot). It is a lovely blue, unfortunately it doesn't work with everything else in there

ChallyCreaks · 09/08/2017 15:35

I'd brave it and paint a darker grey to match the tiles.

ggirl · 09/08/2017 16:12

The floor would look great with dark grey on the panelling , white above and light grey towels etc..I love muted monochrome looks though.

Blue does look lovely as well but doesn't show off the tiles as much as another toning colour would .

user1497557435 · 09/08/2017 16:18

I don't think they compliment each other very well but I do love the blue - what brand/shade is it?

user1497557435 · 09/08/2017 16:19

Sorry just seen details a few up x

SwedishEdith · 09/08/2017 18:41

What is the blue in the hall? When in doubt, go white.

GatoradesDream · 09/08/2017 18:58

I'm not sure what the blue in the hall is, it was here before I moved in, hence it works, unlike anything I have arranged myself over the last 5 weeks

Noooo you need to go warmer!

f&b moles breath or a plummy colour or f&b French gray

GatoradesDream · 09/08/2017 19:02

As for the 'go white' that is what I am doing in the front sitting room. My dabble with Timeless is going to be covered in white. Only I can pick such an innocent widely loved colour and put it in a room where it crashes and burns.

Current options that I think I might like (tester pots arriving tomorrow):

  • Whole wall (panelling and wall above) in Fired Earth Mockingbird (current cover above the divisive blue)
  • Panelling in a grey (various F&B shades ordered - light, mid and darks)
  • Panelling in a different shade of blue (worried about clash with the hall wall)
  • Panelling in an olive green (don't think I will like this but willing to try)

I am sure I am overthinking this but this whole bathroom has been a disaster and I just want it finished and looking nice before I tackle the other rooms.

Actually I think f&b Charleston grey would look amazing.

The hall looks a bit Drawing Room Blue. Assuming, it's similar, FB suggests these colours go with it.

But if not that, their site is a good way to get colour suggestions.
