I'm having a wobble, I'm not sure the colour of the walls is working with the floor tiles in the family bathroom - thoughts?

And if it doesn't work any suggestions?

The thing is I find if you are not sure about something, you seldom grow to love it and usually end up changing it. I actually quite like the grey paneling in a previous posters bathroom pic and think it would bring out the grey in the tiles.

TheHiphopopotamus · 08/08/2017 21:19

Sorry, I don't think they go together either. Separately, they're both lovely but they don't bring out the best in each other.

I'd go for something like this

Or maybe Inchyra Blue, if you're going with F&B which is a bluey-grey. I think Vardo might be a bit too vibrant.

TerfwithaNerf · 08/08/2017 21:22

They don't go.

You need a bolder, richer colour. The blue is very meh.

wobblywonderwoman · 08/08/2017 21:26

I absolutely LOVE it. Genuinely love it.

clickhappy · 08/08/2017 21:27

I don't think they go well, but I don't think they don't go well either.

Some well placed accessories may break up the contrast a bit. A bath mat or towels or some artwork will bring it all together a bit. Maybe add a metallic?

nameohnameohname · 08/08/2017 21:28

I think it's lovely. But I'd put a richer, jewel colour in with my towels and mats. That'll bring the warmth in. Beautiful!

How are you going to shower in that bath? With a shower curtain? We have the same bath and it's a disaster.

The blue is a bit wrong with the tiles, I second the pp who said olivey green.

GatoradesDream · 08/08/2017 21:37

We are not going to shower in it, there is a shower on the opposite wall.

Is the bath a bit of a disaster for reasons other than showering? (Slightly panicking at a potentially very expensive bath mistake and the thought of trying to find another one I like?)

Personally I think you need to go bolder too. Have a look in Pinterest at period feature bathrooms. Lots of ideas on there. We've gone a for a deep blue (Breton blue) in ours in the end as it needed it. Farrow and ball colours didn't work in ours although I did love them.

Does your bathroom get much light? You can get away with going much darker if it doesn't.

StorminaBcup · 08/08/2017 21:44

I love your bath OP. It'll be fine - you have a seperate shower!

GatoradesDream · 08/08/2017 21:46

It gets a lot of light (large sash window) so maybe darker is needed.

Baths like that are wonderful! Only a disaster with a shower over.

StorminaBcup · 08/08/2017 21:49

If you get lots of light you could go lighter, obviously goes against what is being said. Have a look on farrow and ball about light and which direction your room faces. You'll get some good ideas for tones that will work. Sash windows too? I have serious house envy!

Barefoot789 · 08/08/2017 22:10

I really love it! Leave it as it is.

kitchenlights · 08/08/2017 22:25

Bath is lovely it's just the showering Sad
Also don't let your DH wash up in it and scratch it up Angry

Abra1d · 09/08/2017 08:24

I think your colour scheme is fine as is.

SummerKelly · 09/08/2017 08:31

I like it. I have those tiles but just in grey, without the stronger black lines. I haven't painted yet but I think they are harder to match than you'd expect.

Orangebird69 · 09/08/2017 08:37

It's nice but a bit meh. I think it needs to be a deeper blue.

GatoradesDream · 09/08/2017 08:43

It doesn't look good in the morning light I've decided. I'm now really torn as the hall way is dark blue and another dark colour next to it might look odd (I hate decorating!)

Picture didn't attach...it just all looks so awful together and I don't have an eye for these things. Would it look odd with a deep colour next to the deep of the landing (don't want to change the landing/hall colour as it's a large space that seems to be carrying the dark blue very nicely).

It looks fab! Very classy, period looking bathroom.

BackInTheRoom · 09/08/2017 08:57

The hallway colour, I feel, is too navy next to the bathroom colours?

BackInTheRoom · 09/08/2017 08:59

LittleMissMankyPants 'Vardo' colour in the hallway would look great!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 09/08/2017 09:02

Dark colours look better when the woodwork is painted too.
