Soooo I wanted to paint dds room lilac. Went to the paint merchants, showed the man a pic of what I wanted and he gave me a tub of paint and sent me on my way. FIL painted the room today and just sent me a pic. It's a bit ....erm...... Bright.

No, not a huge faff at all. It's the preparation work that takes ages with painting and the woodwork, not the actual walls. and if DFIL will do it again, even less work

B & Q can colour match with valspar paint ( discount with trade point)

No, don't mix it with white, it's nothing like the colour you wanted, you don't just want a lighter shade of what's there.

Oh, that's a bugger, but yeah B&Q. You can probably just pick the colour you want off of the shelf there, much easier! (though they will also colour mix of course).

Just get B&Q colour paint. So much cheaper. That colour on the wall is purple, you need a really light lilac/blue to match that of the Next picture.

Go to B&Q and choose a colour on one of those paint cards and they will mix it for you. A couple of coats should be enough, but it may need 3.

In that light it's very close to DDs feature wall(s), I've promised to do the chimney too. Painting all her room is a mammoth undertaking because of a huge shelving unit and other shelves mounted on the walls.
