Soooo I wanted to paint dds room lilac. Went to the paint merchants, showed the man a pic of what I wanted and he gave me a tub of paint and sent me on my way. FIL painted the room today and just sent me a pic. It's a bit ....erm...... Bright.

Anyway she's 4, she's certain to like it.

By childhood room was bright lime green (was called Apple Green, but I won't have wanted to eat it). I looked it far more than my friends boring hints of rubbish.

If it helps, my dd's room is similar to what you wanted, and it actually often looks more like battleship grey rather than lilac. Her carpet is an even deeper shade of purple than the walls you ended up with, and it is fantastic. That's on the floor though - not sure how it would be if it were the walls that were that shade...

I think you need to get all the furniture in, and put pictures on the wall. I think you will find the colour is quite toned down then.

My dd would have loved that at 4yo (truth be told, she'd have loved it at 16 as well ). Give it a little time - she may decide she likes it once you put everything together in the room.

I would go back to the store and show them the two pictures, just to prove that they did the worst colour match EVER!

Where did you go? I'd be seriously unimpressed with the sales advice tbh, he should have made clear he was colour blind before making suggestions willy nilly.

I would go back and ask them what the actual fuck why they gave you the wrong colour.

Then I would repaint it, you wont be happy with that colour .

No, it's nothing like you wanted, it's incredibly bright... all the prep work is done, just paint it the right colour :)

Will it be a huge faff to repaint it in a lighter colour do you think? It's only 3 walls as one wall is full of fitted wardrobes and one wall has a huge window so it shouldn't take long. But how many coats would I need to do? Can you tell I've never painted before? Lol
