Cape Verde honeymoon

Thinking of booking Cape Verde in early November for our honeymoon. Has anyone been here before? We've been looking at the Santa Maria area in Sal, specifically the Riu Palace hotel. It seems to be around 5k for 10 nights all inclusive, that's with a swim up pool room. Any advice or suggestions are really appreciated.

Definitely DO NOT book CV for any holiday let alone a special one. It’s a dire shit hole with huge issues and one of only two places we will never return too.

November would have told you… no!

God no. 1. It’s a shit hole, 2. It’ll be fucking freezing, and 3. Have a quick google of food poisoning in Cape Verde, especially Sal.

You could easily do 10 nights in the Maldives for this sort of money, and November is a great time for the Indian Ocean. Don’t do CV!

I wouldn't, having been to the resort you're looking at. We went at the end of October and the weather was brilliant, but there was little else to do but lie there and soak up the sun. The hotel is not luxurious, it's okay. For my honeymoon, I'd choose somewhere else.

No, just Google the issues people have had. Asia or Indian ocean or carribean are lovely then - all better choices. Mexico (Yuctan) AI is affordable and great quality with excellent trips.

Thank you for all the warnings, I didn't know about the country so thought it best to ask poeple on here who had actually been and i'm so glad I did. I'll look elsewhere, there are so many options but we definitely won't go to Cape Verde.

We got back together, people seperate and work things out all the time. I don't see why that is strange to you.

Curious enough… definitely!

Life isn't always easy and we're not loves young dream but some time and a lot of talking and understanding brought us back together and things have been resolved. I'm happy.

We went to CV in the summer holidays and had a great time so if anyone is put off by reading this it’s not all bad reviews !

Can do 10 days in Caribbean for £5-7k, out of hurricane season too!

Dh and I have just booked a week next March. I’ve been reading this thread in horror, so thanks for the lone voice of approval 😀
