Cape Verde honeymoon

Thinking of booking Cape Verde in early November for our honeymoon. Has anyone been here before? We've been looking at the Santa Maria area in Sal, specifically the Riu Palace hotel. It seems to be around 5k for 10 nights all inclusive, that's with a swim up pool room. Any advice or suggestions are really appreciated.

We have been to Sal a few times now, albeit before it kicked off with the food poisoning issues. We loved it for a lazy beach holiday where you just want a bit of sun! I probably wouldn’t go back at the moment as I wouldn’t want to risk catching something when we have the kids with us and needing medical treatment. That said, in our experience it’s nothing like what people on this thread have said - just incase that reassures people who have already booked!

There have been numerous reports of health issues on Cape Verde. Terrible reports. You need to research it!
