How much are people paying to go on holiday this year?

Our stats:
2 adults 2 children
1 week in July to Lanzarote
Basic 2 star self catering apts, small pool, all clean and pleasant. No luxury.
£1800
Spending money approx £1500

We eat out for lunch and dinner each day, visit a music bar/play pool after dinner and do a few local day trips but kids happy with pool/beach/playparks. They could run up and down a wall beside stairs for hours!

I pass by some of the bigger hotels with the entertainment and activities and wonder if we would like that. Would anyone share how much they are paying for these types of holidays?

Just wondering how much people are paying for different holidays and also, as an aside, when is the best time to book for best deals?

Just under £4.5k for 1 week All Inclusive at a 5* resort in Corfu during summer holidays for 2 adults + 2 kids

Ours is much more than we have ever spent but we moved house last year and just had a uk break so splashed out this year. Probably won't do this sort of holiday again for a while.

But with Deluxe you even get a 30 minute massage per person included ! It's super. I go every year with girlfriends in April / May and it's not too expensive at all .

We’ve just got back from Madeira.
2 adults in a 5 star hotel half board £1600 - package holiday.
Spent about £250 on excursions.

These prices represent just how expensive holidays are in Europe. In summer peak season months of July and August.

We're sharing a four bed farmhouse in France with another family, £900 each, for 7 nights in August.
£650 ferry fare, only 30 mins drive the other side so hopefully not too much on petrol
No idea how much on activities...I don't think ther a much to do except bumble around the beach

I've posted this before but my general rule of thumb per night per person(no food included other than whatever board):

£125 b&b
£140 Half board
£160 All Inclusive
This is for the summer months, June to September - Europe (mostly Spain or Greece). This would be for somewhere mid range, so not properly basic (or shit) but not the height of luxury either. If you want luxury but not crazy uber luxurious then I'd add another £35-£45 per person per night for those prices.

Saying that I've managed to book 7 nights last minute to Menorca this August for a little over 2.5k for 4 adults SC but I did it all separately and for some reason the Ryanair flights were very cheap. That does include a hire car as well.

£3k for a package holiday to an Italian euro camp for 2 adults and 2 DC.
Its SC so will probably spend £1.5K when there, we don’t eat in and like beers by the pool etc. In essence we just buy whatever we want while there so it might be more.

My teenage daughter and I are going to Aruba end of August for a week 😃 so excited as have never been to a Caribbean island.

• Flights for the 2 of us cost £1300;

• Beachfront holiday apartment £400 (could have got cheaper accommodation if not beachfront);

• Plus spending money of course.

We're flying via Boston with a very long stop-over either side so will try to enjoy a few activities in Boston as well.

So far I've booked a long weekend in a caravan for £360 😳

£6.5k for three people for a week at Universal Studios. Includes flights, accommodation, tickets, express passes, travel insurance, parking.

School holidays.

Food will be extra.

I did August with the kids and it was eye wateringly expansive. But DP and I did the first week in May a couple of years ago for about £1200 each. The weather was variable but it was absolutely incredible value and well worth taking the risk on the weather

Mine are all grown now but they still talk about the caravan holidays we did when they were young. You'll have a blast and so will they!

£2k for a week in Lisbon in May, that was for Airbnb & flights. Probably spent £1k when we were there. We're going to Devon at the weekend, Airbnb is £1800, petrol will be about £150 for the whole week, probably spend another £1.5k while we're there. We don't track spending money so it could be anything tbh.

DH and I have a spa break booked for our anniversary in a couple of weeks, that was £550 for two nights, meals included but will probably spend another £100+ on drinks.

Just over 3k for 2 adults & 2 kids all inclusive in Portugal 2nd week of August.

£150 for 3 nights camping in Cornwall for 2 adults, 2 children and our dog. About another £400 on diesel, food and entertainment. Granted it was during term time as it’s our eldest last summer before going to school. 11 years of the same beach and it never gets old.

Decided to skip our summer holiday this year (we live in a ‘holiday destination’ near the beach) and booked a two week cruise around the Canary Islands at Christmas instead. £8200 for two adults and two teenage DDs not including drinks or WiFi.

1* week in Lake District with 2 other families in SC house (5 in our family) in July
£350 accommodation
£125 Shared Food bill
£250 two meals out pre-booked
£250 spends

We will mostly be walking/playing games etc so v cheap holiday.

we usually stay on caravan sites, we are just 2 adults. I love seeing the little ones racing off to the swimming pool or the arcades. So excited to be on holiday in their swimsuits. Bless them.

I loved caravans as a child! I have some really good memories. I also remember being made to wear jeans that were too small. I got soaked in the rain and I couldn't get them off. Genuine trauma! As long as you dont get your children stuck in clothing, you're doing great!

I think if we could, we'd have a touring caravan now.
