…please share what you did, wherever you went. Having spoken to friends and colleagues, no one seems to have had their best time this year (although most of us have had the ‘pleasure’ of taking grumpy teens bringing down the mood!). Not to everyone’s tastes, but our best family holiday so far has been to Florida, visiting Universal Studios and Disney - it was such good fun.

Thank goodness my grumpy baby/toddler/teen days are over !
We did a tour of Vietnam & Cambodia, with a week-long Mekong cruise.
Wonderful; fascinating countries & great food everywhere.

CountryQueen · 30/08/2025 10:35

@Sunnydaydreamsdid you go to Florida this summer though?

bagsofbats · 30/08/2025 10:49

Scottish Borders on the coast with a 15 & 18 Yr old, it was bloody lovely.

Gymmumma · 30/08/2025 10:51

We did 3 weeks in Florida and it was incredible. We did universal and epic universe and lots of shopping/lunches etc. the kids loved it!

Sunnydaydreams · 30/08/2025 10:52

No, we went to Florida a couple of years ago. This year was a week spent in Greece. It was a lovely villa and we had gorgeous sunshine (and I feel lucky we were able to go on holiday) but it would definitely have been better without teenage strops! I’m looking for inspiration for future trips. Actually, some really wonderful holidays have been spent in cottages in this country, particularly Derbyshire and Yorkshire.

Camping in Wales! We were very well equipped, the weather was superb and we had an absolute blast for peanuts.

Icanthinkformyselfthanks · 30/08/2025 10:54

Safari(Botswana)/Victoria Falls. Epic

TranceNation · 30/08/2025 10:56

Went to Australia - done Melbourne, Cairns, Surfer's Paradise, and Sydney. All I'll say is Airbnb saves soooo much money compared to traditional hotels/dining out.

Oneweekoff · 30/08/2025 11:02

We actually stayed at home and did local days out as if we were on holiday. I bought new soft towels, lovely luxury toiletries, wore our holiday clothes, had a cleaner for the week! We all slept so well, we rested and saved ££££! The weather massively helped.

Two week Scandinavian cruise. Was fantastic although for me and DS two weeks is a bit too long

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 30/08/2025 11:09

I have had an absolutely awesome holiday this year. I’m a teacher and this year I have been so busy it has been brilliant (first year in a long time there isn’t someone with health issues).

Went sailing for two weeks - brilliant if you like it but not cheap. We have our own boat but chartering is also great, if you can’t sail go for a flotilla with a skipper. Gives teens something to do and it is hard to be grumpy when under sail (unless you get seas sick 🤢).

Then went camping with my 19 year old to watch a Grand Prix. Campsite was very close to the track and we had such a good time. Sometimes you need to enter their world.

Daughter’s graduation so a couple of days up there.

Who did you go with? I’m looking at this for us next year (don’t do heat well!)

MissAmbrosia · 30/08/2025 11:14

We went to Calabria and spent a week in Tropea and a week in Pizzo. Stunningly gorgeous with wonderful sunsets and lovely food - best I ever had in italy. We're going back to Pizzo this month for a week.

sundayfundayclub · 30/08/2025 11:26

@JamesWebbSpaceTelescope where was the camping?

sundayfundayclub · 30/08/2025 11:27

My dc had 3 breaks this summer & the one they enjoyed the most? camping with their dad locally 😆😆

Justanotherdramalama · 30/08/2025 11:29

We had a glorious holiday in the Highlands the weather was fantastic. Came home with lots of lovely memories.

Springflowersyay · 30/08/2025 11:30

Japan. Flew into Tokyo and more or less made our way south to Hiroshima over a fortnight (quick detour for snow monkeys).
It wasn’t relaxing, but it was an amazing trip.

crackofdoom · 30/08/2025 11:35

We went Interrailing- Cologne, Berlin, Romania, Bulgaria, Budapest, Nuremberg, Heidelberg (for the Technikmuseum at Sinsheim),Strasbourg, Paris.

It was really great and memorable, despite a heatwave in Southern Germany, and -yes- a fucking horrible, grumpy teen 🙄

@JamesWebbSpaceTelescope where was the camping?

The official F1 campsite (yellow) at Spa-Francorchamps. We had a pre assembled tent and it was all really well organised and set up.

fussychica · 30/08/2025 12:04

This year so far, probably 4 day break in Krakow, loved it.
Last year a week on the French Riviera using the train to explore the coast and based in Nice with perfect weather.
We take road trips through France and Spain every year and I always enjoy them but the two trips about were just very different experiences and both great.

MissyB1 · 30/08/2025 12:08

Two weeks in Sardinia but we were staying with friends who have a house there. Our teen had a ball, he was happy snorkelling, paddle boarding, kayaking. Also did 4 days in Ghent Belgium, that was great fun, again teen was happy.

sundayfundayclub · 30/08/2025 12:12

@JamesWebbSpaceTelescope thanks

Catsandcwtches · 30/08/2025 14:44

A week in Brittany at a holiday camp with water park/slides for the kids

Yuja · 30/08/2025 14:47

We had a fantastic week in Crotia with a 10 and 12 year old. We travelled round the Istrian peninsula, snorkelling directly off their beautiful rocky coves, hiring a boat, visiting the pretty Italian influenced towns. It was absolutely lovely and not too crowded with tourists.

I think I'm too poor for this thread.
Some of these sound incredible.
I did wild camping in Scotland in 2021 and loved it, and an AI in Turkey in 2022 which was great.
My last 4 holidays have just been ok, but grateful I can holiday really.
