Why are people so triggered by the term vegan fish and chips? 😂

I’m not vegan, but hey- live and let live (quite literally in their case)!

I think because it’s like saying ‘vegan meat’ or ‘vegan chicken’ it’s just not those things. It’s something else.

1- meat and chicken substitutes are normally called things that approximate the meat they are replicating... but you do get Quorn mince, Vegan ch*cken Kiev, Vegan sausage.... etc. It's pretending to be those things, so what's the problem with saying, 'this is the vegan version of something else'
2- fish and chips is different... its a traditional English meal/take away which sometimes isn't even fish and chips. If you say, 'ooh let's have fish and chips tonight'... I bet not everyone will actually have fish and chips. Saying you want vegan fish and chips just means you want the 'chippy meal that everyone gets from the takeaway with a vegan fish substitute'... but it's a bit less of a mouthful.

Fish and chips should be protected like melton mowbray pork pies are. You can't have vegan melton mowbray pork pies and you shouldn't be able to have vegan fish and chips.

Doesn't make sense at all, Melton Mowbray is an area, similarly Stilton, West Country cheese being Dorset, Devon or Somerset, you cannot apply for a PDO for every fish in the ocean

Vegan fish and chips should be illegal; they're a threat to tradition! Fish and chip shops around the country would love more regulation - they must love red tape!😂

Then perhaps in the interests of accuracy, traditional Fish with Chips should be called ‘Fish & Worms with Chips’?

Is this still going? Notice how it’s the vegan food haters who keep bringing it up rather than the vegan who we are always told bang on about it.

The bottom line is that meat eaters can carry on eating all the meat they want and don’t need to worry about what vegans eat.
Just like gay marriage didn’t suddenly make heterosexual marriage disappear, so vegan food didn’t make meat disappear.

The vegans are the real "food haters" as they have chosen not to eat fish, which mankind has eaten since time immemorial, but have demanded that there be a fake "vegan fish" which looks and tastes like fish but is not fish.

It just annoys me. Fish should mean fish. Once you start having to quantify it, it just leads to a slippery slope where all kinds of rubbish is being passed off as real food.
