What have you got planned for the rest of 2025

Travel addicts ahoy!

There was a thread last year that I started about upcoming trips, vague intentions and half-made plans. I thought it was time for a new, slightly different thread.

What have you got planned for the rest of 2025?

So far I've got Liechenstein, the very top of mainland Scotland, a spot of scuba in Gozo (need to check an ear so not going anywhere too far until I know it dives) and, likely, Montenegro. Montenegro was impulsive. A friend seemed sad so I called her and told her I'd go on holiday with her. I don't holiday with people so this is rather uncomfortable but I know she won't be glued to me so that's good.

Montenegro sounds really interesting.

I've booked Canary Islands for winter months- I made sure it's sandy, plus there's an option to do a bike hire. After this, I've decided to focus on shorter breaks.

Egypt for May half term (unplanned my daughter's friend is going with her dad and invited my daughter along but I will join them for a bit as well).

Will definitely visit my parents in Germany for a few weeks over the summer, but also looking at somewhere like Mexico or Bali for a week.

MisterT373 · 22/05/2025 02:24

Just back from 3 weeks in Texas. Next up is 2 weeks Costa de la Luz/del Sol at the end of June. Travelling around the UK for the Womens rugby world cup in September.

Early October week in Poland followed by another Texas trip for Halloween/Day of the Dead . Finish off the year with Xmas market in Krakow.

PurBal · 22/05/2025 05:37

I love these threads even though I can’t afford a holiday.

ArtemisiaTheArtist · 22/05/2025 06:18

Only a trip to Scotland this year. I'm moving so there's not much money left 😭.

Titasaducksarse · 22/05/2025 06:21

Crete end of June.
August got 2 weeks off but no idea. Maybe a pootle about in our motorhome in UK
India in November

TheyreLikeUsButRichAndThin · 22/05/2025 06:22

Ooh cool list! Montenegro looks beautiful and Scotland is on my list too.

This year were doing a week Corfu all inc, week away in UK with wider family, and Oct half term European centerparcs. Didn’t go away at all last year, and prior to that eve we’ve had a run of self catering and I am just so sick of feeding people!! So we’re excited!

Anotherdayanothernight · 22/05/2025 06:26

A week in Sweden end of May to see family, 2 weeks in Sicily in July, then probably 2 weeks there again end of September and a week in Gran Canaria in November

RabbitsRock · 22/05/2025 06:26

Would love a holiday - we haven’t been abroad since 2018. Probably doing a couple of mini breaks including Harry Potter World & Thorpe Park ( beginning of September). Hoping to go somewhere for my 60th. It’s towards the end of the year but we’ll aim for 2026.

MinnieMountain · 22/05/2025 06:34

Where in India are you going @Titasaducksarse ? I’m thinking of it for my 50th birthday.

We’re going to Yelloh in Lacanau for half term.

August is Austria and Germany.

I’m going to Cassis for a few days by myself in September.

DS and I are having a long weekend in Edinburgh in October.

We might go skiing for Christmas if DH can find a good last-minute deal.

PermanentTemporary · 22/05/2025 06:45

Spain in June for a week. Probably a long weekend in North Wales at some point as a friend is living there part time for a new job and wants visitors. And a long weekend in York in late September.

Building up to a month off in late 2026 for dp's 60th so most of our energy and money is going into that.

I've been to the Yelloh at Lacanau but quite a few years ago ..it's lovely.

India, as we've only 2 weeks we're just doing a toe dip. Flying to Mumbai for 3 or 4 nights then train down coast to southb Goa

The flights are so reasonable we will do golden triangle another time. We did consider that this time but too much for the time.

gingercat02 · 22/05/2025 08:28

NE Scotland next week, Croatia in August and as yet unbooked Iceland with DH and long weekend with 3 friends in the Autumn. Checking in for good warm, short breaks

That sounds lovely. Where in Scotland?
People on these threads always have about 5x holidays planned. That's not a reflection of the majority of people. No idea how people can afford them all.

TravelMusings · 22/05/2025 09:06

@MisterT373 do you know whether the women's World Cup will be televised? I hope so since it's a big competition. I watch some of the men's stuff but would like to get into the women's.

@XelaM whereabouts in Germany? Maybe approximate it to the nearest city 😂 my German geography is pretty poor.

Our Scottish trip is to see the in laws so not expensive. Croatia is our family summer holiday. Iceland was DH 50th present in Covid and we haven't been yet. Annual girls long weekend is cheap and cheerful. We aren't as minted as that might look!

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 22/05/2025 10:27

Hoping for Kenya or Botswana, + India or Sri Lanka. I'm leaning towards the latter of both pairs.
However, I'm very frustrated at the moment. We'll be moving , so can't book anything until we have a date.

We are going to Inverness for a couple of nights then taking a three day minibus tour of the North coast.

RabbitsRock · 22/05/2025 10:56

I might start planning some short city breaks abroad as you can fly to loads of places from our local airport which is only about 30 mins drive. And flights can be super cheap. Any recommendations? I have a friend in Valencia but would have to check if that’s one of the destinations.

Have you been to Sicily before? Thinking of taking a disabled relative there to celebrate their milestone birthday. Will either just fly to Sicily and have a week sightseeing and relaxing, or will fly into Rome, take a train along the coast, stopping at Naples and Salerno.

Mikart · 22/05/2025 13:52

We only do short breaks of 4 nights...no week/ fortnight holidays. Till the end of the year we have Belfast, Wales, London twice, Port de Soller and a couple of gigs in different cities for overnight stays.
Nothing yet in December.

I earn a decent amount, have a low mortgage and no kids, I don't smoke, I don't have any subscriptions apart from Amazon prime, I don't wear designer clothes or spend money on hair/nails/makeup, I drive an 8 year old car that only does about 5000 miles a year, don't order takeaways, book well in advance for good prices and live conveniently close to a major airport......it's a lifestyle choice that I enjoy spending my money and spare time on and I incorporate a hobby into a lot of my travel. I wouldn't do it if I was running up credit card debts and wasn't saving each month or paying extra into my pension as well. I also have friends and family all over the country so going away for the weekend is often the easiest way for us to meet up.
This year I've far booked / been on:
4 long weekends in the UK
3 normal length weekends in the UK
2 European city breaks
1 week beach holiday in the Med
6 days in the US

MinnieMountain · 22/05/2025 14:25

@Mademetoxic we don’t have a car or child care costs. Our mortgage is quite low. We have a decent household income. Inexpensive hobbies. It adds up.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 22/05/2025 14:28

Turkey on Saturday for a week relaxing
Oregon and Washington in summer for a road trip/hiking, fly in and out of Seattle.
