What have you got planned for the rest of 2025

Travel addicts ahoy!

There was a thread last year that I started about upcoming trips, vague intentions and half-made plans. I thought it was time for a new, slightly different thread.

What have you got planned for the rest of 2025?

So far I've got Liechenstein, the very top of mainland Scotland, a spot of scuba in Gozo (need to check an ear so not going anywhere too far until I know it dives) and, likely, Montenegro. Montenegro was impulsive. A friend seemed sad so I called her and told her I'd go on holiday with her. I don't holiday with people so this is rather uncomfortable but I know she won't be glued to me so that's good.

We go abroad 2 to 3 times a year then other UK breaks and afford it by having no mortgage, we have savings and prioritise holidays over other stuff that's unimportant to us.

Would love a holiday - we haven’t been abroad since 2018. Probably doing a couple of mini breaks including Harry Potter World & Thorpe Park ( beginning of September). Hoping to go somewhere for my 60th. It’s towards the end of the year but we’ll aim for 2026.

Oooh where is catching your eye for your 60th? What holiday vibe are you going for -glam, chill, outdoorsy, etc?

@MinnieMountain Cassis! Ooh you wee genius. I'm always on the lookout for coastal short breaks, I must add Cassis to my list. Have you been before?

@RabbitsRock which airport is it? Because then we can have a nosy at the routes and make some suggestions. E.g. Manchester has different options from Aberdeen, Belfast, Leeds airports.

Does anyone want to share where in the UK they are going? It is a beautiful place full of culture, scenery and history. Share the excitement with this temporarily incapacitated travel enthusiast and inspire the rest of us😄my own trip will be wild camping near Kinlochbervie

This year I have been to: Warsaw - half work - half to visit a friend, Malaga for the weekend and a night in Utrecht with DH.
Saturday we are off to Calabria - week in Tropea, week in Pizzo and a night in Naples before flying back.
In June, I am meeting up with dd, who is doing a month long interrail trip, in Salzburg to do the Sound of Music tour (v. excited) and have booked an apartment with a probably much needed washing machine.
In July we are going to Amsterdam for a long weekend with friends.
End November - girly weekend to Seville.
Will do another trip in September / October with dh but waiting to see what dd is doing re. Master's degree - UK, local, another EU country - as we might need to transport her somewhere around then - and will work around it.

As said by pp - no mortgage, prioritise travel over other things. I would rather travel than have "stuff".

Please do! I’m not concerned about the situation with Israel- unless FCO advice changes for Egypt.

WhineAndWine1 · 22/05/2025 21:20

@XelaMI love Düsseldorf. It’s the only city I have visited in Germany but I absolutely loved it. We did NYC in April and I’m going solo to Side for a week of 5 star AI peace and quiet (can not wait) don’t know what else yet!

Ooh! When and where exactly are you off to Side? We have booked for next April.

WhineAndWine1 · 22/05/2025 22:18

@Meredusoleil2nd week in July and I’m at the Side Star Elegance. Can’t wait no husband moaning because he’s bored being by the pool and not wanting to go shopping. No pre teen DD moaning and constantly hearing mum x 25 million times a day bliss

HerbertVonDoodlebug · 22/05/2025 22:19

Only UK for me this year. Mostly short trips:

  • already been to Bristol x 2 for gigs
  • week in Wales in July (with DC)
  • two trips to outdoor gigs in the summer (Warwick and Essex)
  • Long weekend in Manchester
  • Couple of London theatre trips
  • few days’ solo hiking in the Lakes in autumn

We are going to their sister hotel the Side Star Resort! Hope you have a great time.

So far done Miami, Lisbon & Bologna for work. Peak district & Birmingham for leisure. Next planned - Northern Ireland and Lincolnshire - just me and DH, Fuerteventura - all 4 of us, Nottinghamshire & Birmingham with dsis

TeamGeriatric · 22/05/2025 22:55

We have a few days in Majorca starting this Sunday. At the end of July we have our main holiday, we are flying to Australia to visit family and have a few days in Tokyo on the way home, I lived in Japan for about 7 months, so have seen a lot of the country myself, this trip we are mostly doing Disney (in the sweltering heat) and a little taste of the main city sites. I have a couple of days off in October half-term, so we might have another short break, but not found any good option yet!

pumpkinpotpie · 22/05/2025 23:06

Love these threads!

we have a camping trip to Devon, a weekend in Spain for a wedding, a combination French Center Parcs and then camping trip to Northern France all booked. Plus I have promised DS an overnight trip to a (UK) theme park for his birthday.

I also have a couple of days off in October half term but nothing booked yet. We often go to UK Centre Parcs at that time but money is not plentiful and it’s insanely expensive!

exLtEveDallas · 23/05/2025 05:25

We had 2 days in Majorca at the start of the year for DH birthday. Then 10 days in Egypt at Easter so we could do the whole Pyramids / VotK thing when it wasn't too hot (it still was!). We are off to Spain next week on an impulse buy.

Depending on how we like Spain, we will either do another week there in the summer, then a few days in Oct, or we will go for a couple of weeks somewhere else (considering Morocco or Croatia) in Aug and a UK break in Oct.

MinnieMountain · 23/05/2025 05:40

I haven’t been to Cassis before @TravelMusings . We had a lovely family holiday in Saint-Cyr-Sur-Mere so I thought I’d see where else I like the look of on the train line between Marseille and Nice. I prefer not to fly and the trip is easy by train.

UK recommends since I’ve booked it for 2026- Whitesands beach in Pembrokeshire. There’s a camp site.

Dusseldorf eh? Must add that to my list. I’m going to Cologne next year.

WhineAndWine1 · 23/05/2025 15:22

@MeredusoleilFabby. Hope you have an amazing time 🤩

fussychica · 23/05/2025 15:26

3 week road trip in France next month, 6 weeks in France and Spain early Sept to mid Oct, another month in Spain mid Nov - mid Dec. A bit of a bonkers itinery this year. We usually do Canaries pre Xmas but seems busier and busier and the flights are really expensive this year plus our usual villa has gone up loads so we've taken a bit of a punt and hope it works out. Used to live there so know the weather in Dec can be amazing or not!

Jumbojem · 07/06/2025 23:49

Some fab trips here, and very wide ranging in budget and nature! We're usually UK camping breaks and one 3 weeks euro campervan trip in the school hols. But this year DC are exam years so we are doing 3 weeks at 3nd of June in montenegro and bosnia, flying to/from Dubrovnik so a couple of days there too. Looking forward to it, scenery looks stunning, but a lot of bus travel and packing up and moving on every few days (we do this in the van too, but it doesn't involve carrying a backpack!).
Planning this trip has certainly wetted my appetite for more travel, I would have liked a new year sunny trip from our local airport but probably needed to have been booked earlier as was pretty expensive for 4 adults. Hoping to find something for the autumn or winter though.

BG2015 · 08/06/2025 18:46

Already had 2 weeks in Makadi Bay, Egypt which was lovely.
Weekend in Glasgow in 2 weeks to see Stereophonics/Simple Minds.

End of July two weeks in Italy to celebrate DP 60th birthday and my retirement from teaching.

October 4 nights in Krakow -this is a surprise birthday present for DP 60th. He doesn't know yet!

Allthe3s33 · 08/06/2025 18:58

Med cruise soon. City break with family in August. Greece in September. London for a pre Christmas weekend. Christmas in the Caribbean (big birthday for me). Fully aware of how fortunate I am and yes, I earn the money and pay for it!

jeaux90 · 09/06/2025 18:09

July we are off to San Diego for a few days, drive up to Big Bear lake for 5 then fly to Nashville for 4 days.

August Woolacombe in Devon

November Antigua (without the teens 😁)

Going to my bucket list destination - Jordan.

I've had a lot of expensive, long-haul holidays.
But I think one of my favourites was Jordan - short-haul & also comparatively cheap!

Beautiful country, friendly people, good food.
