Hi there. Since December 2023 me and my fella have been to Corralejo around 8 - 10 times. We have stayed in a lovely apart hotel all inclusive and also a fabulous Air BnB apartment.sharing a pool with two other apartments. I prefer the apartment set up and now we go for that option, booking our own flights and saving a fortune. I would like a change at some point but not sure where to try. Not keen on Tenerife, Costa Adeje as it's so built up and the same with Lanzarote. Costa Teguise. Not sure about Gran Canaria either. Any nice accommodation in Puerto del Carmen. Lanzarote? I know it's busy but I remember there being a long promenade there. Sorry if I sound fussy but I am when it comes to holidays. I have managed to plan great holiday for 2 weeks with two of us for under £1000. I know Corralejo divides opinion but everyone had different needs. We tried Calete de Fuste but not for us as its a man made resort. All we want is nice accommodation, seaside, sunshine, places to walk to or go to by bus and a reasonable budget...it can be done in Corralejo but not sure where else? PS just returned from Argentina on a self organised tour which was half the price of a similar package!

North Tenerife is lovely and has a completely different feel to the south of the island. We spent two weeks in Puerto de la Cruz this winter. It's greener than the south and does get more rainfall but we had great weather and no rain. Lovely centre to the the town with lots of older buildings and independent local restaurants. We stayed in an upmarket hotel but there are lots of alternatives and plenty of self-catering accommodation. Take a look at the webcams. We hired a car for a week and also used the buses to access other towns and villages.

Definitely Playa Blanca in Lanzarote.. l have a place there..
Book your flights then try this place.
Privately owned... communal heated pool. No bar or loud music.. but right opposite is Playa Limmones with a few restaurants/ Spar etc.
If not hiring a car there is a bus that goes all round the resort .
I'm 66 and love it.. but we do go to Fueterventura too.

Rent a holiday vila in Casas del Sol at Lanzarote

Casas del Sol is an established and well maintained complex of 128 privately owned villas, of which more than 90 can be rented as holiday homes.

We love Lanzo! If you find Costa T too built up then PDC is not for you!!

I hated PDC, far far too built up!

We love playa Blanca, it’s beautiful! Lots of lovely beaches ( playa dorda, playa flamingo, playa Papaygo). So many beautiful areas of the island as well, it’s worth hiring a car- going to the top of the island, cactus garden, volanco , lakes

we love it! It’s my happy place 😍

Is this your place @Moier looking for somewhere for next year!

I do have one on there.. l unfortunately don't rent it out. I've had it adapted for my disabilities.. just let family use it .
But honestly it's a great place to stay.
But remember Playa Blanca ..although a quiet resort compared to the others is spread out with different areas.. this place is near the ferry port and Flamingo beach.
There is the precinct centre. Then the Upmarket area of the Marina( with restaurants and boutique shops ) at the other end of Playa Blanca .

Some great advice here so far thanks 😊

Oh, we stayed in one of these about ten years ago. Great location, pretty development.

We have holidayed on Lanzarote about 9 or 10 times over the last 15 years. We always get an Airbnb in Puerto Calero (usually a villa with a private pool). You can walk along the cliff path to Puerto del Carmen from there and get the water taxi back. Another great resort is Playa Blanca. But avoid Costa Teguise at all costs, it’s irish pubs, english breakfast and sunday roast all the way, we hated it. Playa Quemada has 3 authentic spanish restaurants and in daytime you could walk there from Puerto calero. Puerto Calero has a lovely harbour/marina with lovely shops and restaurants.

Have you tried the South of Fuerteventura? Morro Able? I'm writing with question marks as I don't know! I do go to CDF but I'm a single mum travelling with teen daughter so, it suits us.

There's a guy on Facebook who travels all over Fuerteventura and takes the most stunning pictures. It really is an island I'd love to explore more.

I've stayed in Puerto Del Carmen and wouldn't recommend if you're not looking for pubs and clubs.

I don't even know why I'm answering as I have no suggestions, but I'm watching with interest as DD is 16 now and not so excited about holidaying with her old mum 😂

Puerto Mogan in Gran Canaria is stunning

Azuresky68 · 30/03/2025 09:11

@TheBuffetInspector we all have different needs for holidays don't we? I have been on holiday on my own but didn't enjoy so much. I definitely need a variety of things to do with some nice scenery. I have heard that Morro Jable is nice but quiet..probably not for me! I have two female friends that I go away with on long haul but rest of the time I enjoy going with the BF, particularly the Canaries. Might try somewhere new but we love Corralejo!

What about El Cotillo in Fuerteventura? Up round the coast from Corralejo?

Tourist29 · 30/03/2025 09:45

Have you considered Madeira instead - we never had but saw Michael Portillo programme last week - it’s sub tropical, stunning mountain scenery and great for walking. Not too fussed about canaries other than for winter sun.

Playa Blanca in Lanzarote is lovely.
Look at La Palma? We’re going in 2 weeks, apparently great for walking

boysmuminherts · 30/03/2025 09:48

Absolutely Lanzarote, there's so much to visit on the island. Stay in Playa Blanca. Lovely resort. Further to travel to visit places but worth it. However, our go to place is Paphos, Cyprus. Going twice this year and once to Lanzarote.

dizzydizzydizzy · 30/03/2025 09:49

La Gomera is lovely. Much quieter than the other islands. You fly to Tenerife South and then get a ferry.

loveawineloveacrisp · 30/03/2025 09:49

Another vote for Playa Blanca. Have been many times.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. My other half went to Madeira but before we met. Never been to Cyprus as I thought it would be too developed. Playa Blanca might be good.I went by ferry from Corralejo but didn't explore properly. Any suggestions for accommodation would be really appreciated. We prefer an apartment or an apart hotel. I usually manage to get a much better deal by booking direct so our budget can stretch further for more holidays

I visited there but not quite enough to do for me. A nice day trip though.

We’ve been to La Palma twice and we absolutely love it. It’s very green, has a wonderful landscape and very little light pollution so star gazing there is amazing.

It’s not like the other Canary Islands at all. It’s like going back in time. They sweep the streets in the capital with long handled dustpans and brushes. We stayed at the La Palma Princess hotel, which was all inclusive and very nice.

There are Air BnBs around the islands and a couple of promenades. If you were wanting restaurants etc you’d have to stay more towards the capital.

We like Fuerteventura, too. We’ve stayed just outside Morro Jable, it’s not overly quiet. There’s quite a bit going on. We preferred it to Corralejo, tbh. We don’t like Lanzarote at all.
