Evening all,

Sick of seeing this grey sky..

Does anyone have any holidays planned yet?

Were off to Turkey for 2 weeks in August, I can not wait to feel some heat and spend some time together.

Out of curiosity and being bored how much does your holiday really cost you if you were to break every bit down.. clothes, spends, parking etc

Do people like complete new wardrobes for the family/couple for whole your there. I really enjoy having all new to wear.

Have a nice evening all

Seattle and an Alaskan cruise

Italy

Italy again and an Adriatic cruise

China

I don’t know about the rest of the year yet.

ValentineValentineV · 07/02/2025 19:15

I dread to think how much it all costs, my Chinese visas and travel to the visa place cost £650, all the extras do add up.

How lovely!! Living life to the full. If i had no children with various needs those would be my places to visit. Unfortunately, they wouldn't be appreciated. Maybe in a few years

I love reading about other people's plans. At the same time I know many cannot afford to have holidays, so I am mindful about that

I'm older (still have me cough drops lol) so have done all the long hauls continent to continent by now so stick to Europe. Shortish flights, term time or at less busy times of the year, and for as long as I feel is needed for the place I'm going to. Early retired, thank the Lord and am doing it now while I still can.

Back from a month in Southern Spain around Cadiz/Seville and Estepona over Christmas. I love being away for Christmas, especially to a place (like Spain) where the festivities are so low key and nothing like the commercialised frenzy here.

Away with my sister and brother in March (we have a siblings trip every year it's mad fun), to Belgium - Ghent, Bruges and the battlefields. Then to Nice and Genoa end of May with "himself" as Marian Keyes would say!. Somewhere in October and back to Spain for Chrimbo and beyond.

LadyFlumpalot · 07/02/2025 19:27

Skopelos in June and Grindelwald for Christmas. Two very different holidays! Very much looking forward to both!

LittleRedRidingHoody · 07/02/2025 19:27

Skiing for the first time this month!

A week in Dorset at Easter.

Camping / road trip the NC500 May Half Term ❤️

Camping / road trip mainland Europe in the summer holidays.

Festival in the UK last week in Aug (camping again - sense a theme 😂)

A couple of long weekends in the UK/Europe. Probably also a day here or there in the US tagged onto a work trip.

Really, really fancy a warm AI in October but not sure the annual leave/finances will stretch that far! I've been umming and ahing about it for a few months now. Even without it this is definitely the most holidays we've done in a year, but DS is now old enough (5) to properly have the travel bug and it's coincided with a decent bonus so it's a bit of a 'fuck it' year!

TeamGeriatric · 07/02/2025 19:40

Tentatively Venice for Easter weekend, unfortunately I've had to shelve our Netherlands plans to see the flower parade as couldn't get the right week off work.
Majorca for a few days for May half-term.
Australia in August to spend time with the in-laws, route to be determined, so possibly scope for a few days somewhere on the way there or back.
Somewhere in Europe for 3/4 days between Christmas and New Year, won't think about that until at least September.

MinnieMountain · 07/02/2025 19:40

DH is taking DS skiing next week. I’m going for a long weekend in Baden-Baden whilst they’re away.

Rome with a friend in March.

Easter weekend in the Peak District.

Yelloh in France in May HT.

August- walking in Austria, a few days in Friedrichshafen on the way home.

Cassis by myself in September.

We’re hoping to ski at Christmas if we can get a good last minute deal.

My first holiday with my now husband was Skopelos. In the 90s!

We’re going to Barbados next month and the US in July.

MumChp · 07/02/2025 19:45

A trip to Scandinavian to see family.
Quite cheap.
We can't afford a lot of holiday abroad these years.

Sunnnybunny72 · 07/02/2025 19:52

Just come back from Lisbon. Going to Krakow in two weeks and then Madeira in March. May/June will be next but nothing booked yet, pondering Italy.

countrygirl99 · 07/02/2025 19:53

Belize in May
Yorkshire Dales in June
Portugal walking holiday in September.
Possibly Finland in July/August but dependent on family stuff.
Probably a long weekend somewhere the UK in October.

socks1107 · 07/02/2025 19:54

Went to Porto last month, Canary Islands in summer. Will plan a June break and a November break too.
Sunshine last week in Porto was much needed!

nabanna · 07/02/2025 20:00

Poole in a couple of weeks.
Montenegro in April
North Macedonia in July
Scotland in August
Prague (day trip) in October

all the trips are short 2-3 days, but to places I mostly know and want to go back roy

CurlyhairedAssassin · 07/02/2025 20:01

A week's Med cruise for silver wedding anniversary in May.

Lyme Regis for a week in August.

Prague for short break also in August (with mum and sister)

Got a few other weekends in this country for weddings or to visit young adults at uni.

I love seeing new places, absolutely love it.

We did Prague in a day last year! 😍 So, so beautiful and made me want to do more one day trips.

InMyMNEra · 07/02/2025 20:03

Mallorca in June
Ireland in august
Undecided European city in December

Panicmode1 · 07/02/2025 20:05

We spent Christmas and New Year in Thailand which was magical..we are going to France for two weeks in the summer.

DS2 is currently en route to Lisbon for a school art trip, gets back for 24 hours before heading off to China.. DS3 is going skiing with school at half term.

That's it then because DH was made redundant in July so until he gets a new job, we can't afford any more holidays we haven't already paid for 😢

Crikeyalmighty · 07/02/2025 20:06

Amsterdam in March

Ibiza ( Santa Eulalia) and formentera combo in July

CurlyhairedAssassin · 07/02/2025 20:26

On my list over the next 10 years:

Venice as a short break.
Florence, Cinque Terre, Lucca & Tuscany road trip.
Lake Garda and the Dolomites.
Scandinavian cruise to include Copenhagen (or if not do Copenhagen on separate short break, same as Stockholm).
Greek island/s (never ever been), maybe combine with Athens.
US road trips - Grand Circle, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, East Coast.
Switzerland/France Alps road trip.
Japan when I'm retired.
I'll do the all inclusive resort type Med holiday when I no longer have the energy for proper travelling.

I probably spend most of my spare money on holidays. I hardly ever spend money on anything else. Very rarely buy new clothes, shoes, handbags, makeup or go out. Holidays are like my one vice.

FindusMakesPancakes · 07/02/2025 20:51

Are you all retired? And Uber wealthy?
I dream of even doing one proper holiday, but between only having 5 weeks off, school fees and mortgage, it seems a distant fantasy. 😭

iamsoshocked · 07/02/2025 20:55

Athens and Samos in August.
I am working on DH for a few days in Lisbon at Easter…..

Your school fees and mortgage will be huge costs. I don't have those.
