Best food you ever had on holiday?

Been thinking about how food can be such a big part of holidays and curious to know what food experiences on holiday you have all had?

For me, a proper new york pizza from Prince Street Pizza was incredible.

I had a cajun jambalaya pasta dish in New Orleans which was out of this world.

A clam chowder in Boston away from the tourist area on Newbury Street.

A freshly made chicken club sandwich with egg bacon tomato and the crispiest saltiest french fries for lunch in Ibiza after quite a lot of uninspiring all inclusive food.

Crispy flaky cod and salty chips from New Quay Wales

Prawns in chilli and garlic oil before a perfectly cooked filled steak at Chill Out Restaurant in Tenerife overlooking the sea.

Really good steamed mussels in a little pub in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull.

I visited Urth Cafe in Laguna Beach and had a delicious mint chocolate mocha while watching all these super tanned super fit rich people grabbing their morning coffee and it was so fun.

I know sometimes it's all about the location but what food has genuinely been so tasty on your holidays? Love to hear them

Mandarin ice cream at a cheese festival in Bra in Northern Italy, I have never tasted ice cream so delicious.

Grilled baby octopus, fish skewers, a dish of perfectly fried frites, a simple salad of tomatoes vinegarette and a carafe of chilled rose eaten on warm night at a hilariously chaotic port front grill place in Sete, Southern France.

Dinner at Paul ainsworth at number 6 in Cornwall during the Padstow food festival (it’s never been as good as that time)

salted caramel gelato in florence

a chicken burger at Charlie’s in Tintagel

sticky toffee pudding at the Cornish arms in cornwall

vegetarian lasagna at a veggie restaurant in venice

a huge feast in the hills near Bologna on a food tour - every dish was amazing and there was deep fried custard

deep fried feta in sesame seeds with honey in crete

roasted feta with tomato oregano and olive oil in corfu

persian at ilili in New York

a fabulous pizza in Brittany (though we went back later in the week and it was shite!)

pumpkin pasta in a random roadside restaurant we stumbled upon in Italy

i bloody love food!

@CIGall I've had that fried feta and sesame seed dish too, in Athens I think. It was fabulous.

Now.

Deep fried custard, you say, ? 👀

Just scrolling down through this thread and have been reminded also of some absolutely delicious meals in Morocco. Tagines; that delicious pigeon dish they do in pastry; simply cooked fresh fish on the coast, and some fabulous puddings.

I loved the mix of French and North African influences.

Rather surprisingly the best food I had was when I had a week's stay cruising on a traditional Turkish gulet. Only 10 passengers and 3 crew. The skipper was also the chef. He cooked every day, 3 meals a day in the tiny galley. They were wonderful! Every meal was delicious, meat, vegetables, salads, all cooked and prepared to his mother's recipes. Mediterranean salad also seems nice, but this was really good. He'd buy food from a market boat every couple of days. No choices as such, you just ate what he cooked each day, but I loved it all.

This sounds incredible - would you happen to have any leads on where you booked this?

In Greece I had a peach and Amond salad that I still think about now!

Had the most amazing pasta at an Italian restaurant in Krakow.

Alas it was 10 years ago and the travel company I used went bust! Lots of gulet cruises around Turkey and similar in Croatia, Greece etc though.

I had a rather amazing roast dinner at Roskilly’s in Cornwall this summer. The meat was something else…

Also my favourite lentil soup in Cyprus. I’d fly back just to have a bowl or 10. 😩

Paella in a small village just outside Valencia. It had everything and was the best dish I've ever tasted.
Terrible indigestion all night due to overeating but it was worth it!
