Playdough on airplane?

I wondered if anyone knows the answer to this!

Is playdough allowed on an airplane? Just 2 tubs and a few cutters. It's the only thing that keeps my 3 year old entertained at the moment so hoping!

@TheSpottedZebra it's not especially crumbly and obviously will be played with me and supervision! I have a mat for it to go on and it's only one TINY tub c

There are so many other toys you can take, don't take playdoh.

Yeah it’s grand. I often brought that air dry clay stuff as a similar distraction. I was strict about keeping it on the table only and there was none mushed into the floor or anything. So it’s on you to avoid that.

Better would be a different, non messy toy.

My DH works as airline crew, please please do not take playdoh on the plane!! Just makes such a mess and adds to the crew and cleaners work. Not to mention if it gets on the carpet in the aisle it gets walked over the entire cabin!

God no! Think of the people who have to get on the plane after you and will end up sitting and standing in play doh.

Don't be that parent and find something else.

Don’t do it. Even if you just make little round balls, bits flake off and will land on the upholstery and carpet. My grandkids love playdoh but are confined to the breakfast room with it. This is a very small room with a hard floor and just fits a table and chairs. Even so, my husband spends ages picking bits from the floor after they have finished. My grandchildren have tablets but are only allowed them very occasionally. If they are going on a flight, the tablets are removed for 3 weeks beforehand so it will be a novelty on the flight. They are then put away until the return flight.

You asked, OP. And you’ve been told not to do it as it’s selfish. Including from people who work on cabin crew!

What if security thinks it is Semtex and you are all arrested?

Can people really not manage to keep their childs playdoh from falling on the floor? If they are being supervised 1:1? Genuinely quite surprised! They sell sweets, chocolate, drinks that a 3 year old could easily make a mess of too!

OP the works sell little trays in the craft section that would fit so that the playdoh won't accidentally roll off.

I'm astounded that a 3 year old can't be entertained by anything other than playdough! Why put yourself through the stress of trying to stop it rolling off the tray, fall on the floor, get squashed into the seat? Most ridiculous item to take on an aeroplane in my opinion. What's wrong with colouring, sticker books, a bag of small sensory toys to fiddle with?

Yes but those things wash out easily, have you ever tried to get playdoh out of a carpet once it’s dried? The seat covers come off but that’s not the point, the crew aren’t there to clean up after people and it’s not nice for whoever sits in your seat after you

Security may be concerned that it is plastic explosives.They look and feel very similar.

I know having been fobbed off with some of the green stuff and tried to blow a safe...it didn't work.😡

Good luck getting a product that looks exactly like Semtex on to a plane.

You can get so many fidget toys and things like that, why play dough?
