Playdough on airplane?

strawberryblue · 29/07/2024 15:25

I wondered if anyone knows the answer to this!

Is playdough allowed on an airplane? Just 2 tubs and a few cutters. It's the only thing that keeps my 3 year old entertained at the moment so hoping!

OP posts:

No way! Completely anti social choice, the crew will hate you. Stress ball type squishy stuff is a good idea.

vanillafudgecake · 29/07/2024 16:47

I've seen adults leave worse mess after a flight than a child playing supervised with playdoh! Go for it

iwasashowgirl · 29/07/2024 16:49

Looks like Semtex and has cutters with it.

Go for it OP, but take some colouring books for the detention suite 😂

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 29/07/2024 17:05

It seems that playdough could be seen as a bit of a nusiance for other passagers on the airplane and for the cleaning crew.

What about something like this to keep your 3 year old amused?

Picture hasn't loaded!

We are flying with DD since she is 8 months and that was before tablets were a thing.

Magazines, books, paper and pencils, stickers, food and maybe two or three Happyland figures we used to make up stories.

Anyone remember the glorious classic thread about letting a DS take a super soaker to a party?

reallyworriedjobhunter · 29/07/2024 18:04

Take a couple of big bags of kinetic sand?

I think it's a good idea, I've seen it recommended by several people on here before. Also sticker books and boxes of plasters used to keep my little one entertained.

thehousewiththesagegreensofa · 29/07/2024 19:40

We took playdoh on the plane a few times. No problem getting it through security or playing with it "cleanly". To be honest, I've never really understood the fuss. Glitter on the other hand...

sausawyee · 29/07/2024 20:13

It stinks!

mitogoshi · 29/07/2024 20:16

Try reading books and colouring, the magic pens aren't messy

Redditchcycler · 29/07/2024 20:19

People do realise that security don't decide if something is Semtex just by looking at it don't they ?

MsPolly · 29/07/2024 20:26

We took it and was a huge hit on the plane and the whole holiday. None got on the floor or the seats. If supervised I really don't get the issue!?

intrepidgiraffe · 29/07/2024 20:39

Lots of tik toks about the scanners thinking play doh is an explosive - another reason I'd avoid!

Lolatusernamesuggestions · 29/07/2024 20:44

@TwoLeftSocksWithHoles so funny 🤣

I thought this was a joke post OP but you're serious aren't you?

I really wouldn't take play dough.

itsweirdbarbie · 29/07/2024 20:49

No, I don't even know if you'd get on with it either tbh a friend took some for her kids in her hand luggage and they confiscated it all. Get her a busy book and some non messy toys that she's never seen before and will be excited about.

Caspianberg · 29/07/2024 20:53

it really stinks. Horrible smell in a confined space

Vettrianofan · 29/07/2024 20:54

KreedKafer · 29/07/2024 16:34

Good luck getting a product that looks exactly like Semtex on to a plane.

Had to Google that🤣

Ponderingwindow · 29/07/2024 20:58

Try wikki stix instead

Eminybob · 29/07/2024 21:22

OP asks a question, ignores every reply apart from the one giving the answer she wants.

WHY ASK??

mathanxiety · 29/07/2024 21:32

You probably won't get it past security.

But I wouldn't take it, for the same reasons almost everyone else on the thread has stated.

There must be some other way of keeping your child occupied. Stories? Conversation?

mathanxiety · 29/07/2024 21:32

iwasashowgirl · 29/07/2024 16:49

Lol, yes to this.

DrCoconut · 29/07/2024 21:34

It would also contaminate the seat and table with gluten which depending on cleaning rigour may then be there to greet the next passenger who sits there. OK for most admittedly but not if you're the 1/100 or so who has a medical issue with it.
