I flew today for the first time since lockdown and I think I can safely say that lockdown has definitely made people less considerate of others.

We had a kid with a slide whistle. Both parents had headphones on!!

And a father and son who kept play fighting behind us. Why do grown ass dads insist on riling up kids play fighting!

I was on a flight going to Tenerife. My DS was Breastfeeding so his ears didn't pop (he didn't much like sweets at that age to suck on).

The woman next to me, as soon as we were in the air. She handed over, snatched my boob out of his mouth and said 'That's enough now. We are in the air'

She said it so breezy and friendly! I was so shocked and genuinely didn't even say anything in protest. Luckily he was asleep on landing

She grabbed your boob?! Whaaaaat

For the sake of anyone reading this who finds themselves in a similar position, you can tell a member of airline crew this is happening and ask that this person is removed or you are moved to a different seat - they can put a man in that seat if the flight is full. It’s totally unacceptable. As is someone watching porn next to you. And anything that constitutes harassment or abuse - laws aren’t suspended because you’re in a plane.

@ANiceCuppaTeaandBiscuit I’m so sorry that happened to you.

I absolutely would have had I not had my child with me, but I was afraid he would just deny it was him and I'd be left in a more vulnerable position than if I just ignored him. I did report it afterwards but have no idea if any action was taken.

It’s OK. I didn’t mean to suggest you had failed here and I can imagine how intimidating the whole situation felt. Yours is only one of a few stories on here that aren’t just irritating but downright wrong. If sharing it on here means that one other person remembers this and thinks ‘fuck it, this is just not on’, then it helps.

@PrincessHoneysuckle yep, she grabbed my actual boob!

I was horrified and stunned into silence

There’s nothing wrong with refining seats when the seatbelt sign goes off.

I get annoyed when people in front let their small children stand on the seat and stare at the person behind, especially when parents look at you as if you’re a monster for not wanting to engage with them.

Reclining seats if not to sleep - is really unreasonable in Economy- you force everyone behind you to do the same or suffer knees around their ears

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 16/08/2024 23:53

I absolutely cannot abide anyone kicking the back of my seat. Legacy of having two little brothers who did it all the time if it was my turn in the front seat. Would have to be telling them not to in no uncertain terms.

Bereavement flight to the US. 12 hours overnight. Last minute booking. One seat left. Back of the plane in the middle of a line of 4. Two huge rugby players seated either side. I was literally pinned to my seat arms and legs squished in as they manspread into my space.

The one on the aisle fell asleep before we were airborne and didn't wake up until we disembarked despite my jiggling of him.

Horrendous.
