Probably not the right section, but I wondered what people thought about living somewhere they don’t live atm!

Agree with Majorca . Beautiful island, friendly ,safe and only a 2hr flight for visitors.

Majorca is such an unsung treasure. We went last year for the first time in so long and it really is so beautiful. The short flight compared to the likes of Tenerife makes such a huge difference with young kids. It also has way nicer beaches than a lot of other places and the sea is beautiful!

Only if there were no guns, hurricanes or alligators.. Florida.

One of these really American neighbourhoods with the white picket fences 🤩 Imagine the difference in quality of life if you had a pool out your back door, the weather was lovely and you could just go to DisneyWorld on a Saturday for a day out

Berlinlover · 09/04/2024 23:26

London.

Femme2804 · 09/04/2024 23:35

Indonesia. Best country. Best food, best weather, best beaches, best views.

@Lion400 Palma is a proper city like a small Barcelona, lots of palm trees, really good shops big and small- lovely bars and restaurants, shady squares, free public white sand beaches to either side within 10 minutes (and a good bus to get to them) good healthcare, hundreds of flights a day back to uk - all areas. Mallorca itself is beautiful with the exception of a few 'lads on tour' type resorts- very hilly in parts, lovely beaches, good roads - does get 'some' rain outside the late spring through to late summer months.

That sounds beautiful, a small Barcelona but nicer 🌴

London, where I am already, but somewhere swankier. Richmond or Barnes or somewhere like Wimbledon Village.

I love West London too, lived there for 20yrs. We’ve moved away now but if I could afford a small flat there as well, that’d be perfect (no chance!) 😂.

California or colorado. I have friends and family in both places and love it there. So envious of their lifestyles.

The guns issue really puts me off the USA. I love Colorado as well, never been to California but can imagine it’s a great quality of life. Apart from the gun issue. Isn’t it weird you can be in a queue in a shop and there’s a person behind you with a gun over their shoulder?

(*I don’t know rules in specific states so could be wrong)

Bamburgh

Northumbria? Loved it there, Bamburgh Castle etc. One of my favourite holidays as a child. ❤️
We never go up that way these days. We should..

In a specific house that I've known since childhood. It was empty for years then suddenly had a new owner without being advertised for sale, and I heard that they planned on either flipping it or renting out as a holiday home. I recently approached the new owner and asked to be considered if selling and was told they wanted nearly half a million quid for it! It is in no way worth that (worth about half that, max) but they said they have several other people who've approached them so are basically whipping up a bidding war.
Bastards.

Greed 🙄. They’ll probably not get what they expect. Might be worth keeping an eye out, you never know

The gun issue is real though, isn’t it??

Another vote for Palma, Mallorca. And had plans in place until Brexit.

Mrstwiddle · 10/04/2024 03:42

On the coast in Oregon state.

North Norfolk

Yep, me too. I’d like to live near to Brancaster beach.

We stayed in Clearwater Beach and it felt very safe.

WelshWannabe · 10/04/2024 04:48

New Zealand. We actually move back there in 3 days. Beautiful country. I can't wait.

I currently live in Australia and wouldn't recommend it.

I wouldn't mind Greece, though, either.

SpringBunnies · 10/04/2024 04:51

Richmond. I don’t want to leave my career. So somewhere closer to London but still commuting distance. Also I don’t want to downsize so unless I won a lottery it’s not going to happen.

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 10/04/2024 06:33

Anna Maria Island, Florida.

OhamIreally · 10/04/2024 06:53

London, in the exact area I live now but upgraded to a house from my flat. Actually I love 💕 my flat.

Love Seville but it's far too hot in summer.

Oganesson118 · 10/04/2024 06:56

In the UK, probably somewhere near Stroud. Just an area I like.

Abroad, probably somewhere in Turkey. Lived there as a student, not in a tourist area, and loved it.

Saschka · 10/04/2024 06:59

I like where I live, but if I was a billionaire I’d love another house in Banff, and a house near the beach somewhere (whitstable probably). Maybe Toronto as well, we used to live there and it’s an amazing city. Berlin is also somewhere I can imagine living if I didn’t need to worry about practical things like a job.

JLT24 · 10/04/2024 07:03

London

or

Mainland Spain - I’d become bored living on a small island like Mallorca but would love to be a quick flight/boat ride away with the freedom to explore different parts of the mainland too by road/rail

I actually love the place where we live (in Liverpool) but the weather is so bad atm, this winter has been so long and wet
